  • This video is about the nissan elgrand oil change drain and fill process. It’s only to show how to fill and flush oil but the oil filter is a separate job not covered in this video but very easy to do.

Nicely done, and yes I did read the bit at the end explaining it all.

Thanks for the informative video. I need to mention that it appears that you need new front tyres.

@@martinjudd1284 probably new brake pads, catalytic converter, bushes, wiper blades and shocks. Many little things but it’s not easy to make a video of each item being replaced and wouldn’t be very interesting watching a new tyre purchase for a van 😆

just bought one of these, and the oil pan was almost dry. Had to put over 5 litres just to top it up.
it was smoking too, so I put 10w40 and its better already
but will be doing a full change with filter next week!
    thanx for the vid

Great review! I'm very interested on getting one of these Elgrands and DIY oll changes will definitely be happening!
I wonder whether the vacuum for oil changes method would work on the VQ engine. It would definitely eliminate the need to fool around with the drain plug. The kicker is the location of the filter. Is it on the bottom of the engine?

A bit late. But yes, it's on the underside.

Hello It Is very important to change oil filter every time you change oil in Nissan Elgrand with best oil Penrite 10w/50. Please remove the first black plastic cover under the engine to change oil.

Sorry about your video but what kind of halfway job is that, what about changing the oil filter too. Do you know these engines has a plastic guider on the timing chain you don't want to clog oil filter running on that engine.

If you could post a video on it I’m sure people would appreciate it.
Was only showing how to change oil not how to change filter

@@taximan7912 If you watched the video fully you would have seen that I was trying out a thicker oil and even wrote at the end that people should use recommended oil as I was just experimenting to see if smoke would go away and that i was using it just as a type of flush so I can then put the recommended oil with filter later to achieve a golden oil colour which only happens when you change oil twice if you find black oil after u purchase a vehicle.
But everyone has there own technique so if you want to buy two oil filters and change an oil filter twice In one day to do a basic service then that’s ok that’s just your technique.
But it’s a little too expensive for most of us to do that Frequently so I do it this way.
And for me I enjoy my cars so I find I change my oil more often that I should but I change my filter on the recommended intervals cozif u change it too early it would be a waste of a filter but a cars oil can never be too clean

When I do a review of the car later on this month I’ll include how to change oil filter if that will help you out a little. On the forums people can never find the oil drain plug and always ask the location for the elegand so that’s all I focused on was to show people where it’s located and answer that common question

At the front of the engine, under the crankshaft pulley.

Dude this a vehicle that drfinitely needs its filter every time. This engine is a pain in the ass. That filter placement is so annoying aswell.
So is that side point the only point you can raise it on?

redbach23 yes if you watch till the end it was to test if the smoke it was blowing on start up would disappear next time I start the car by using a thicker grade of oil. But i did also write to follow the recommended oil for the car not what i used it was a experiment oil

Just a quick question, for how long did you use that one? Did you get to a 15w40 for instance or are you still with that one? Thank you!!!
