By stacking stone foundations on top of another foundation that's been offset slightly, we can instantly create stairs that are perfectly spaced apart without fail - this can make for quick and easy straight staircases, or save a TON of time when trying to create a perfectly-spaced spiral staircase. We can precisely change the length of the steps, the height of the steps, and even make them curve into a perfect spiral at different angles. This, alongside clipping and floating, is one of the most powerful tools we have in our teapot toolkit.

I had trouble with this technique then I figured out the problem! Hopefully this will help anyone else who's struggling.
After selecting the foundations when creating the custom set, DON'T CLICK CONFIRM SET. Simply move the bottom foundation onto the other one, and _then_ click cancel.

a little tips for building the stairs
if you use the rock-type floating island, the stairs will be build raised from the platform
but if you use the soil-type floating island, the stairs will build lowered from the platform.

there were some out of bound glitches back in 1.5, they're kinda complicated, but mhy fixed it asap after the glitch was found (and we are never able to do it anymore ;v;). Thankfully I tried once and my out of bound structure is still there, even now

It still works but for those who did it but still did not get it to work, basically at 1:44 do not save the custom set; just select from top to bottom AND THEN--without clicking "confirm"--take the whole stack and put it on top of the sunken foundation. The sunken foundation then becomes the first "step" of the stairs. That said, we do have proper blueprints for stairs available now and we can levitate them too, all the better for less load. If you want the spiral staircase though, you can still do this if you want.

Just rmbr dont click 'Confirm' at all after creating the stack set, just move it on top of the other platform then click 'Cancel'

Hi, thank you very much for the video. It has helped me a lot in building stairs for my teapot (tho its very frustrating mihoyo seems to enjoy making customization harder than it has to be). Around the 5:00 mark you talk about and show making the stairs go outside of the boundaries, however you are unable to save it. Have you found a way to be able to actually keep what you made go outside? Otherwise, its kind of pointless if it only works in editing mode.

I built 2 staircases this way, then when I try to make a third, I'm unable to place the stack on top of the other foundation. I'm using the same platform heights as the other ones I made, I'm selecting top to bottom. It just suddenly won't work, maybe like 10 minutes apart. Any advice? Something I'm doing wrong? I'm just trying to make 3 identical staircases and I did the first two with no issue...

It does as far as I've tested, at least among all the landforms. I think the reason this works is because every other landform has that bevel around the rim that dips down and lets you partially sink stuff into them, but the stone foundations only have a straight edge, and it's that discrepancy + being stackable that causes the bug? So if we get a smaller version of the stone foundation in the future (like maybe a perfect cube?), there's a chance this'll work with that too

EDIT: I tried this, i didn't realize those stone blocks don't snap. You need to perfectly stack them without error. I always make floating platforms anywhere hahaha. It's not making a proper step coz it's not stacked perfectly.
EDIT 2: Finally it made a stairs, but, it eas kinda slanting to the side. Maybe coz of the stacking of the stone blocks.
That's why it's recommended to enable "Snap to Grid". This makes sure that the stone blocks are aligned since they snap to the same, specific location

Ok so I’ve tried this a million times and every time I hit cancel at the very end, it just sends the stack back to its original spot. I’m using 5 blocks total as a test, but I’m doing everything else the same? I’m able to kinda get it to work if I rotate it but the bottom single block that’s “sunken” stays in place while the rest of them rotate, but they’re all still stacked on each other and don’t collapse into evenly raised levels. Do I just need more blocks so I’m hitting the red at the top?

it works great but my bottom-est step is way too tall, as in the first step is way too steep, but the rest of them are fine. Am I doing something wrong?

@@ChiyoTachi ^ same question if anyone can answer. honestly, it isnt working for me. i think its because of the hud where instead of create set, i need to multi select first before i can create a set, but im holding out hope that maybe im doing it wrong.
EDIT: this is resolved! it still works. what i was doing wrong was clicking confirm on create set. when using the multiselect, click on the platforms from top to bottom, DO NOT CONFIRM to create set. instead, place on top of the one other platform, then cancel.
