Godzilla is childs play in comparison to the might of The Kraken. Sure, Godzilla is the king of monsters, but at one point in time we actually thought The Kraken existed. This makes The Kraken unimaginably more scarey the Godzilla.
Gooood, it has been too long. I love how this piece really captures the panic that comes with the Kraken's attack, the same kind of panic I felt in the movie theater seat when I watched this as a little kid >///
Lol I was listing to this while watching The film, and this part came on. I love this soundtrack so much, that i play the kraken level just to hear it.
Was anyone else surprised by how violent the last Kraken scene was in PotC2? It legit went from 0-100 in no time and showed some really disturbing stuff. I love it.
It is truly amazing how Hans Zimmer can put emotion and feeling into music. In the beginning, the music is slow and calm, but after a while it begins to build and you can just feel the Kraken racing towards you, through the water. And the tentacles slowly rise up the ship at 1:20, and then suddenly the attack begins at 1:50, and it is so intense and overwhelming, and that is truly amazing about
5:42 to 5:53 slays me everytime. Taking that motif and turning it into a breakneck 7/4 as a way to really ramp up the intensity is so genius. Really underappreciated moment here.
1:18 is the best build up to the main part where the Kraken attacks the ship. Awesome concussion beat in the background. Just magnificent how Hans Zimmer uses an organ to build up to that part (since Captain Davy Jones plays an organ), and then just blasts everyone with extraordinary loud music to show just how big that beast really was during those horrific moments.
I could never forget the way this made me feel when I saw the movie in theaters. I even put it on my Myspace. I know that may be silly but I loved it so much!
Well everyone knows that Cthulhu is fictional due to a book(correct me if I'm wrong) yet back then we thought the Kraken was real, and it could be real due to the ocean being so fucking huge.
As to the debate about Kraken/Godzilla, well Godzilla represents the A-Bomb which, while deadly, is man made while the Kraken represents something far worse. It represents the might and mystery of nature and the crushing power of the Deep. This is more horrific as it is some thing that no matter how hard we try we can never control because nature and terror lie within all of us. Not to mention that we once thought and some still do think that the Kraken existed, this I feel makes it far far more horrifying as it is more believable and more monstrous. But still it doesn't exist so no fear needed. Let no joyful voice be heard...
That's the thing. You see, everyone knows Godzilla, but the Kraken is more of a mystery. Something that lurks in the darkest parts of the ocean. Fear can come from the unknown.
I have listened to so many Hans Zimmer songs dozens of times over, this one theme pushes out to the top of them all. In front of themes like man of steel, gladiator, batman, inception etc.
I like POTC tracks because even when menacing like this one is, the tracks are lively and energetic, like it is about facing adversity, and there is an aesthetic sense. Unlike the cold and lifeless or just tensed and overexcited tracks used in such situations in many movies.
I love this soundtrack, and in this particular track/score I really enjoy how Hans Zimmer incorporated themes from Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (the organ sections). It really sets the mood and complements Jones' character well.
Robin Ramstedt DAMMIT!!!...I'll look for it captain...KEEP FIRING THOSE CANNONS!!!...*goes below*...tch...damn it...BUTCH!...where did you put the...oh...I FOUND IT!...DRINK UP BOYS...WE'VE GOT ONE HELL OF A FIGHT AHEAD OF US!!!!
i wonder what other crazy sea monster is gonna come out in Dead Men Tell No Tales. 1st we got underwater zombies and then Kraken and then mermaids, i wonder whats is going to come out from the dark deep cold sea's .... just thinking about it sends chill's down my back hahaha
Kraken legend is based on the Giant Squid And it still exists in the depths of Ocean It's a deep sea creature and favorite food of Sperm Whale (or should I say Moby Dick) 😉
Just imagine 1:49-2:10 playing when The Silence arrives on the shores of Pyke and people are cowering in fear as Euron steps on to the docks with a confident smirk on his face
Someone in my class played this from they're phone when the teacher handed out test results it was the best even the teacher couldn't keep a straight face lol.
Such a powerful piece if music, just imagine looking out to sea, seeing the water rise slightly, and then seeing the tentacles rising up around your boat.
Is anyone here in shock besides me? Cause this was uploaded almost 11 years ago, and At World's End is about to reach 10 years? Damn, I still remember when I went to see this on theatres ;-;
Idk I don't watch them but there is those teen beach movie, the one with the girl and the bad hair day, teen spirit or something like that, if they are not about teenagees that want a boyfriend they still suck anyway just watch a preview and you know its gonna be bad.

Robin Ramstedt It is!

I love this tune! Hans Zimmer classic
Such a powerful piece if music, just imagine looking out to sea, seeing the water rise slightly, and then seeing the tentacles rising up around your boat.

you know when disney used to make badass movies, not just dumb teenagers that want a boyfriend...
Alexei Strife how am I being retarded I'm being honest, some are good but the majority are about teens in school and crap like that...
Axel Garcia Name three movies by Disney in the last three years that follow the plot you described.
Idk I don't watch them but there is those teen beach movie, the one with the girl and the bad hair day, teen spirit or something like that, if they are not about teenagees that want a boyfriend they still suck anyway just watch a preview and you know its gonna be bad.
Axel Garcia ...Teen spirit is over five years old. And that's one example, in a company that's made dozens of movies.
Disney makes marvel movies
The Kraken was just awesome. So much so, I felt genuinely sad when it died. Hell even Jack felt sympathy.

We look to discover space when our oceans are only about 5% mapped. So dont you try to tell me Krakens dont exist
'Krakens' its plural._. I was referring to the possibility of many big squids, not just the one
cchdz ocean's pretty big man haha. And squids would stay deep underwater
Kraken calamari sounds delicious.....
