In this JCB Backhoe Loaders, the increase of power from the diesel engine during the years, has been always oriented to working with the front loader, to have more power and torque to the wheels when doing truck loading or digging dirt with the front bucket. This is the reason why also the pallet forks are mounted on front, as there is more lift power there. With the rear excavator, always has been the same standard 1000Kg SWL to the end of the bucket since the mid 1980's when the first 3CX's appeared on the market. And the new ones continues the same. Rear excavator arm and hydraulic cylinders have changed very little in this nearly 40 years, just some increase in oil pressure in the models that are equipped with hydraulic piston pumps instead of the regular gear pump. 1000 Kg SWL on the rear excavator is enough to handle the biggest bucket filled or a heavy attachment as a rock breaker or a patch planner, etc. The extendable dipper is focused on reach more than in lift capacity, so when is extended this last is reduced considerably. On the Owner's Manual is a graphical lift table with the capacities of the excavator, and as i said, since the mid 1980 3CX's has not changed much.
Lifting power has nothing to do with engine horsepower, or the flow rate of the hydraulic pump. But all to do with the hydraulic pressure - normally governed by the main relief valve setting the size of the hydraulic rams, and the geometry of the arms (size of the levers) - all of which would likely be the same for a number of reasons. I suspect more engine HP is more for better road speeds or pushing capability.... This maybe a better test! But you did make a good point regarding the age of the machines and the comparison in that regard, as hydraulic components are prone to degradation in performance over time. I think your findings there are the most valuable for this test.

Boom rams std 110mm cyl x 60mm rod , There are also 3cx with heavy-duty 120mm cyl 65mm rod and 140mm cyl x75mm rod that should make a big different

It's difficult to tell if the rear bucket is the same, or a different size on each machine. As this may add an error to your test. Perhaps it would be better to remove both buckets and lift directly of the lifting point on the quickhitch. Are the excavator lifting charts present in both machines? Also, did you know that JCB provides a 'Heavy Lift ' excavator option on the 3CX?

Thank you for this very interesting video. I think your test is valid from a scientific point of view, as the testing conditions are well documented and reproductible. In your conclusions, one point can be discussed, however. Considering that the main differeince between the machines is stage V vs non stage V engine, perhaps there is a difference in fuel consumption and gaz emissions. But it's not really easy to measure during a short test...

In my home town jcb 3dx super 92hp can lift Transformer. Maybe 1.2 ton... Without struggling... Even jcb 2WD 76HP could lift the same WEIGHT i am serious

backhoe of a JCB 3CX is rated for only 750kg by the manufacturer. Even though you are capable of lifting over 1000kg, it's not healthy for the machine. You are seriously stressing out the valve boxes which can result in cracking or losing pressure holding capacity of a valve box. I understand you are just testing it for the sake of this video. But I strongly recommend everyone to stick to the rated loading capacities of 750kg for backhoe and 1000kg for the front loader. If you inevitably have to lift little over rated loads bring the load closer to machine as much as possible to reduce the torque induced in the lifting rams.
