    I appreciate this video but honestly, we would make do with the background music volume way lower than it is now. It’s a little harder to concentrate and grab the information being passed with the background music overshadowing the person’s voice.
    Thank you.

    So its kinda like a python dictionary?

    • @ark5458
      @ark5458 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes, python dictionary is basically an implementation of hashmaps but has a lot of extra features the same way lists in python is a mix of an array and a linked list

    Well, if you wanted to dynamically store data at runtime, you should have used an array list, like a vector tho this would have not made searching for a specific value faster.

    arent hashmaps only used for like java ? i mean you wont really need that for other languages right ? so whats the point of asking about it in an interview if you're not hiring for java position etc..

    • @thasmeerp
      @thasmeerp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why only java? It can be used in other programming languages as well while the situation demands. I personally have used this in js

    • @AnshumanAtrey
      @AnshumanAtrey ปีที่แล้ว

      python, c, c++, js, java and many more programming language can use hashmap

    Two comments jump at me. The first straight forward one - the title of the video does not match the content. Title says "Anagrams", but content is about student ids. More importantly, while hashmaps are definitely very useful, I wonder if allocation of student ids is a good example, given that universities have a good idea how many students they can admit (as they only have so much capacity) which can translate to creating an array with a size that should work. Or maybe I am missing something. Great effort thought. Thanks for making it.

      Looking up a student by their ID would be O(n) then(ofc given that the entries in the array are not sorted).
