Love this!! Really appreciate the multiple photos showing examples of what NOT to do as often we don't really see it in our own spaces until you contrast it with the 'correct' way to do it. Well done as always!
Hi Reynardlowell, love your channel and wondering about something and wanted to get you idea on it. I plan to add a modern 5 glass panel front door on my house and I also wanted to do a glass door near or same look on my bathroom for extra lighting in the one window bathroom. The bathroom door is around 17 ft away from the front door in an open door way to the living room and diningroom so its all in view of the same doors. That would be too much of the same thing right? Should I go with a solid glass door for the bathroom door? Privacy glass of course, other then solid glass there are the 5 and 4 panel doors. Thanks if you are able to reply.
Hi Reynard, I try to buy but the code is not valid. anyway I can purchase?
I have a neutral colors in my home, and have heard these tips here and there. But you have just given all the cohesive reasons for a better design.
I think it takes time to find the right pieces and often people are just in a hurry to furnish a place, without considering the size of the room or how it will actually be used. Many times this either leads to rooms that are plain, inadequate and not fit for purpose, or that look like they came straight out of an ikea or crate and barrel catalogue
It's also really difficult to find the right choice online, atleast that was my experience, wasting hours on Wayfair finding nothing or being disappointed when it arives because it's not real wood etc.
Also unconsciously order something at 3am online.
It's worth pointing out that interior design showcases are photographed much differently than something in your own home on your phone camera.
Another excellent video. The tips for decorating with neutrals are so helpful. Your examples are spot on to help the viewer fully understand concepts. Thank you so much!
Older mirrors usually have deeper reflections, due to real silver on the back
Wow, that's fascinating!
I love neutrals as a base with pops of rich deep colors like plums as an accent color.
Reynard, I love your posts. Unlike most, you do not push your personality and/or dog as the most important thing. I like getting these tips from a man. You are logical, analytical, and give examples of exactly what you are talking about. (Please don't flash these so fast). I understand you perfectly without all the aggressive nonsense "personality".
I had a living room that was mid-toned tan and grey to white, without any architectural interest in the slightest. I couldn't believe the difference black made. And even very dark brown. I also added a ultra-marine blue in small doses, and even smaller amount of burnt orange (rust) and even more texture. Of course big artwork too. Sculptural rounded chairs.
I have drapes of polyester but look like linen, because I was afraid the linen dye would fade too fast. I think it does, but fake linen won't fade.
Thank you.
Yes you're right, 100% linen will likely fade with intense sunlight. I personally like the middle ground of linen poly blend, or linen cotton poly blend, gets the best of both.
What does any of this have to do with someone's gender?
Hi. Please, Can u do a video on the unexpected red theory trend? Red is my fav color but find it tricky to style n this made me sad that i dont have any red home. Thank you.
I grew up in a house that leaned toward Hollywood Regency/ all white, with colorful international items: Persian rugs, Murano glass, etc. A good lesson to live in.
Inspiring and practical advice, as usual! Thank you!
We tried neutral after inheriting furniture. It didn’t help and absolutely brought out the non cohesive elements. Do you have a video on dealing with inherited furniture?
I've got a west-facing room that glows up nicely for these warm, neutral interiors but looks flat & cold during the morning.
White & taupe works well in that room.
I completely changed my modern, but flat bedroom with art work. It feels like a completely different room.
Wow, thank you so much. You're suggestions are so simple, and easy to follow, as well as, understand. Thank you. 🙏
Fantastic demystifying. Thank you.
Excellent video. Thank you so much. I am saving this to my YT library.
I bought a grey sofa as I thought it would be a 'safe' colour and I didn't know what my colour scheme would be. Now really regret it 😅 trying to distract by putting colourful cushions/throws on it. Any other ideas welcome!!
Removable cover on the toss pillows that match the sofa, and add rectangular or cylinder lumbar pillow. Vary the shade and texture (ie linen, nubby, silky). Or vary the pattern (ie 1 large plaid, 1 medium solid, 1 tiny geometric). Drape a lightweight throw over sofa or plop in basket nearby.
Same here - grey sofa as “the safest possible choice” 😅 but at least we learned our lesson and won’t do it again.
Great video - thank you for sharing your expertise!
So helpful; thanks! 👍🏼
Great video!! 🤩
Brilliant video and tips
Love this video 🎉
great video!
Thanks!
My king thank you
Great Video.
"Pulling off a neutral room is often difficult as you need to pay extra attention to details"
I think I'm just gonna embrace the monochromatic life.
thankyou
Great job, very informative and helpful, thank you!
I would appreciate it if when showing the “good” examples, you lingered on them a few seconds longer.
Thanks, will keep that in mind!
I rly like your the guidance n ideas u provide in the videos.
Do u know where to for those types of chairs ur showing @4:51?? Looking for something like that for my living room space, thnx.
Yes! Left one is Wegner CH25 chair, and right one just look for Pierre Jeanneret chair. Original ones are very expensive, but there are plenty of replica or rendition, and also second hands available.
@@reynardlowelloh man thank u appreciate the info/response. Luv ur taste.
Omg 2:04 is my friends house :D
What's your wall colour code?
I'm giving up on neutral rooms. I need more colour in my life
What are your views on ultrathin magnetic lights?
@reynardlowell how about combo of cool neutral, warm neutral, 10% accent color?
Does cat fur count as “texture”??!!
Yes definitely! I mean every surface is technically a "texture", it's just with the accessibility MDF and chipboard furniture (plus accessories like fake plants, etc), many spaces end up with only one and the same smooth surface, making it look flat and sterile.
Of course🎉
🤣 brilliant
Yes, and bonus - it is repeated throughout the home!
@@marylut6077 Yes; I do strive for a cohesive look!! My cats are happy to assist!!
❤
in the process of creating a cozy ADHD friendly room. they need round furniture as much as possible as they are prone to injuries with furniture, stubbing toes, getting caught on sharp edges...etc.
🙏🏽
🤍
Usually good, but here you’re missing a very big trick. Instead of just explaining what to avoid and what to add, actually do it please. Take a boring room and change it . Show an example that folk can relate to. Use your skill to make magic
That is a great suggestion.
He showed 2 examples and even his old apartment. What are you talking about?
Are you trying to say he should show a room he redecorated from beginning to end? That would need to be a separate video. This video is just going over what to do.
He could make video of one of his clients I’m sure in the future
