    Solid work. While replacing my wiper brakes, I noticed my engine oil was a bit low so I ordered a longer dipstick. Very productive weekend.

    I remember helping my grandpa with a repair like this on his old Chrysler. Being built in the 1970s, it had drum brakes on the wipers.

      I think Disc Brakes wipers was an optional. And in some cars wipers Brakes are behind the dash so you can't see it

    I think it’s also important to note, is that running your windshield wipers when it’s dry out can cause the rotors to possibly warp. Great video and informative as always, thanks Chris.

    Keep in mind some older SUVs and trucks will use drums instead of calipers for the rear windshield wipers. Hope we can get a video on that soon!

      More modern ones will use caliper brakes on the rear window. Also, most use TWD - Three Wiper Drive.

    I boosted my wipers with a twin turbo kit for extreme performance. However, with that mod I had to go with very hard to find and VERY expensive drilled, slotted and double vented ceramic rotors to bring the wipers to a stop. Well worth the time and money!

    I recently bought a 2005 Tacoma. Mechanically everything checked out! Unfortunately, I didn’t realize after the purchase how badly rusted my wiper brakes and calipers were totally rusted out! I heard Toyota had a recall/class action suit on these but I guess the original owner never got the notice. Anyways, the dealer is replacing mine. So glad to find out now that I can do this job on my own. Thank you Chris!

      NEVER rely on a dealer for those. Perfectly good aftermarket Carbon Ceramic Wiper Brakes can be had for around 5K. Just shop around.

    This is a great video by Chris. I'm a master technician of 25 years. I had a customer last week saying that their wipers were clapping the windshield when the wipers moves back into the resting position, even with new wipers. Come to find out that the wiper rotors were warped. I changed them and the wipers were back to normal. And I also replaced their blinker fluid with a new type of liquid with reflective particles to make their blinkers more bright. They were very satisfied.

      please tell me you didn't forget to replace the muffler barrings did you? it's recommended to get them changed out every time you fill up with gas. but only on fill ups. if you just get a few bucks wprth at a time then they'll last forever.

      Just a heads-up to you all, you don't need slotted or drilled windshield wiper brake rotors. Standard ones will last longer and won't risk having the rotors cracks. Ask me how I know, 😂

    Just a quick tip, from my experience, since these are linked to the brake system, you can help the wipers stop by pressing the brake pedal each time they reach the A pillar. That way, you won’t scratch your paint and it will give you a few months to get a replacement!

      Just switched over to pneumatic brakes, working great. Brake pedal is much softer and more comfortable now, would recommend!

    Pro tip: When servicing pneumatic wiper brakes be sure to apply a thin layer of D.O.T Fluid to the wiper blades and winshield surface area to ensure no contamination arises from the old air.

    I made the mistake of not using DOT 3.5 blinker fluid when bleeding my wiper breaks and we all know in NJ inspection stations they check for wear and fluid level. Thanks again Chris for keeping me off track!😊
    It's not like the old days when you had vacuum wipers when you pressed the gas pedal to the floor the wipers would just stop in the middle of the windshield.

      Don’t make the mistake of using amber signal fluid when you should have used red. My wife did that, had to drain and refill with correct color.

    It is such a simple repair, and I think that's why not a whole lot of people cover it on YT. Even my auto instructor from HS didn't go much in depth on this repair.     I just got a car. (My grandfather got himself a new one so he gave me the old one) And I decided that I would fix everything bad with the car that he always wanted to fix but couldn’t. I started watching your videos and now some stuff are really useful. Like the old ceramic coating video you made. I did what you did in this video with my brother and now the cars wiper blades last longer. I had to get them changed every three months. And they look a lot better than how they wiped three days after the last change.

    Wiper brakes are always the first thing I do to a used car after purchase, followed by spark plugs. It’s cheap and easy to do, and it’s so easy to not look like a fool with bad wiper brakes, always so easy to spot, yet so easy to fix. Also nice that it doesn’t cost much for parts either.

    Being an old phart, I didn't get to this video until December. You youngsters have it so easy. Back in my day wipers used drum brakes. No pad slap on those drum brakes, you really had to fiddle with them to get them right. My '68 International Harvester Scout had vacuum driven wipers and it was a real pip to get right.

    Please always use drilled and slotted wiper rotors. They last longer and can prevent a fire because they dissipate the heat better. Great work Chris!

      Ya, especially when you have the wipers on the high setting. Think how much that wears out the pads and rotors to stop the wiper in time before it leaves the windshield.

    Oh, really helpful mod. I can not stress how useful this is... While cornering , to be able to keep your wiper blade in such a position sing the brakes to attain massive downforce is simply amazing.

    Wow! I can't believe I never knew this. I've been struggling to find what was wrong with my wipers for months! You did such a good job explaining the first few steps that I didn't feel the need to watch the whole video, so thank you. I'm off to the parts store! Called my local dealer and the parts guy just laughed at me. Makes me sick that they don't even know about the importance of wipers brakes! They're not gonna be getting my business anymore!

    I can’t thank you enough for this video! I was always perplexed as to why my wipers seemed to squeak so badly, but now I know! I ordered my kit along with a gallon of headlight fluid and exhaust freshener to make the emissions smell like lavender.

      In the fall, they have pumpkin spice exhaust freshener. I love it and spend hours breathing in the exhaust.
      BTW, blinker fluid is on sale this week. Also the canned air so you can replace the air in your tires.

      @@Leopold3131 I thought I was the only one who enjoyed the potpourri of fresh exhaust in the morning! I usually fill my garage with that sweet scent and pass out from sheer delight/asphyxiation.
