Very honest review i must say, you are correct on almost every level but i have some explanation on your genuine leather and color issues. This wallet is not stored properly and become hard cause of the conditions of the warehouse ( very humid i guess ) or a fake one but looking at its grain pattern and the kind of marks it is developing it looks real to me. pls mention the seller also so we can stay away from them. i am a big time fan of genuine leather and wildhorn products, my messenger bag is soft and beautiful, its blue in color but pure leather is hard to dye also, so its the another reason it looks almost gray to me, so if your wallet color is faded it is another sign that is a genuine leather but not maintained properly, and for the color issue, buy black or brown cause it is the natural color of the leather hides of animals, it will look good even after 50 years if taken care properly.
