    That is an old ESAB-Heath CNC machine made in Fort Collins Colorado. I used to Sell & Service them. You only have the x axis rails. You are missing the cradles and the expensive y axis bridge that contains motors and controls.

    • @christopherbradley4090
      @christopherbradley4090 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It wasn’t esab, it was blue not yellow ( the y-axis/control box assembly). I can’t for the life of me remember the brand though but it would have been cheaper than esab. It also sat on large water bed.

    • @twowheeljourney9149

      @@christopherbradley4090 Google ESAB-Heath. They only made the frames. I worked on them in the 80’s all over the world.

      It was an Aviator XL with a Burny 1250 control box

    • @twowheeljourney9149
      @twowheeljourney9149 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Chris perhaps your right. The c&g rails were probably copied from ESAB Heath. They look identical. The old BURNY 1250 was a nice controller because it had integrated amplifiers. I retrofitted many machine in Australia & Japan to use that controller.
      The Y axis is where the value is. The X rails are kinda useless.

    A word of caution about warehouses. I think I see/saw an over head sprinkler system in your new warehouses. You may want to call a fire sprinkler business and and have the sprinklers checked out if you have not already. I'm sure with your "fleet" of cars you will want them and the building insured. Have the system inspected because they do become faulty. I used to manage a warehouse and had a company come over and do a quote for maintenance work. I put the quote in my yearly budget for the next year. I left that job shortly after. I had a friend that still worked there call me one day and ask me if I had put the sprinkler system in the budget- I told him I had. He said - I knew that and told management you did but no one would acknowledge that fact. Anyway, the reason my friend called was that one or many of the glass sensors broke and caused about $30,000 in damaged product that they had stored in the warehouse.

    I was a field service Engineer for Esab for 36 years. The rail with the small gear rack is the x axis and the other is the non driven slave rail. These rails supported the main gantry. Each section is typically 16' long giving you slightly more than 12' for cutting length. Single drive machines are typically set up for 6' or 8' cutting width. If this was a very old machine, the frame work was a tracing table that rode between the rails for an optical tracer. It had a lot of cross supports so the table was very level for the tracing head. Some had both a tracing head and a small numerical control which had basic geometric shapes stored in it and all you did was input the dimensions desired and cut them out. It could have been an oxy-acetelyene or a small plasma or both!! You really don't have anything of much value. I suspect it is all worn out. I didn't see any rail stands to support the rails that are typically supported approx. 28" off the floor. One set of stands for every 4 foot of rail plus one set at each end!!

    I’ve been working on CNC machines for a decade and built a couple of my own design. For what it is worth, I wouldn’t attempt to build a plasma table out of the scraps of an old machine. You don’t have enough parts to just add a couple motors, you will need the linear motion components for at least 1 more axis, and a CNC control, and a plasma cutter with remote IO capability and a torch height controller or sensor that can integrate with the CNC control.
    If it were me, and I wanted to build a CNC plasma cutter, and I was willing to spend several thousand dollars on parts, I would probably spend a few thousand more for new linear guides for the x axis and material for a new table so you can get parts that fit your design instead of making the design fit some old parts that may not be in very good condition and exact replacements may not be easily sourced when they fail.

It was kicking on and off and only heating the home to 66 degrees. I have replaced it once before because even after cleaning, it still didn't work right, but this time I was able to clean it and everything is back to normal.
    It's very frustrating when you heater kicks off and on and works a couple of minutes and then shuts off. The thermocouple of course wasn't properly sensing the heat from the flame, thus shutting off the gas.

      You should start watching some of the hvac channels. If you want lessons, I like grayfurnaceman. Gas heaters are fairly simple, with few parts that go wrong. At least until you get into the high efficiency heaters, which start getting complicated, but not by much more.

    Make sure to check your capacitors and amp draw on those blowers and draft inducer (vent) motors. If it’s going bad like the noisy one definitely is you’ll overheat the furnace. Oil won’t save the bearings on that baby, lol. There are safety switches but it causes damage to the blower motor regardless . (Licensed hvac ~3yrs)

    A used oil burner is a cheap way to heat a warehouse. You can burn every used oil / spirit you get, even used veg oil. When properly tune, no smoke is produced. It makes sense when you work with cars, gallons of disposable, hard to recycle, used oils, can be put in good use. Remember to filter them to 4 microns, and you can even mix them with you diesel oil to used them as fuel in a diesel truck. Lowering the ceiling with polyestirene panels, can help too.

    you need pv panels and heat pumps - save money - also break up heating into zones - you really don't have to do much other than getting utilities running - the client can set it up however - get somebody established and long term in there and you will be happy - you can get back to even almost and try to start making some money. get that cnc going get all your tools moved in and as you start fixing cars you can add on - big tvs in shop a must - surf the net when you need to look something up or find a fix or a special tool or whatever - you have enough space really give yourself some extra elbow room - get some signage and shop manager rent out a few bays? you may not have to do that once you have tenant just concentrate on doing some cool projects do a fox body mustang with aero and wing and blown 327 - think about getting a dyno and becoming a tuner shop - diy build your own hd dyno? the future looks bright at any rate #flat rate shop
