I was thinking this…he prob got back all the money he spent on the original Greeny and then some with all the signature sales…actually smart move on Kirk’s part. He bought an iconic guitar and prob made money on the purchase like an investment while bringing a guitar that would have sat in a collector’s closet unplayed to the forefront and adding to it’s legacy.
Yes that’s the point I think. He is continuing the legacy of that guitar instead of it sitting in a collection not being played. I think it is a good thing.
Taken from the Synyster gates school! Just talked with Syn, and the headless "Nobody" guitar WILL be getting a limited production run with Schecter! Availability and pricing (the "wen?" and "how much?") are TBD, but this IS happening. All models will have the "Synarchy" logo at the 12th fret and no other top markers - super clean. It will come in three models: 100 Gold 7 string headless 100 Large Silver Flake 6-string headless 20 "Acid Rain" 6 string with headstock The Acid Rain finish will be distressed or "relic'd" with these final touches personally done by Syn.
@@michaellorenz7177 hard to say. That’s all that we know. I’m assuming the two headless will be overseas like his dark knight that’s limited to 100 and maybe the acid rain that’s limited to 20 could be usa but like I said no info on that yet!
If they are planning to charge more than 1300 USD for the Epi Greeny, it better come with Gibson's headstock. If not, a Japanese Tokai is a much better option if you want a more affordable Greeny-esque Les Paul (and also a MIJ instrument)
The Paranormal Esquire is my favorite too. I just got one of the cheap Squier Sonic Esquire H and did a 3 way switch mod on a SH-4 for series/parallel/split(slug side), so when I saw this, I knew I had to have one
I think you should get Dave Grohl’s Epi, would be an adequate entrance into ES-style realm. Tune it into Drop D and perfect mid-gain riff machine…and, cool upgrade project. We all know that Epi electronics has to go out, jack and switch, at least…pickups, well, matter of taste. Locking tuners right away!
The Casino has always been in a Sunburst finish, but usually kept the Natural for the John Lennon model. Good to see they’re moving the Natural to the Standard line.
I do kind of like them, but I do find that they tend to not have the features I want and can be a bit unattractive. The reduction in size really lends itself to extended range instruments, but I do find that a lot more could be done with them to make them more practical and interesting. Why not create a headless guitar with a means to quickly swap to alternate tunings? I'm thinking of something with a roller bridge that has a separate tuning key for each string that has two positions that it can move between, one where the string path is unobstructed and another where an adjustable set of rollers with fine tuners are pressed against the strings to increase the pitch, allowing for B-Bender functionality and/or swapping to drop d by manipulating a lever to affect the pitch of one or more strings with the option to have it lock into position or return to the original position when the bar is released. There's so much that could be done with a separate bridge and tailpiece that just isn't being played with because so many designs are trying to integrate the bridge and tailpiece into a single unit, which just makes for something more complex to set up than it needs to be. People know what they're doing with fixed bridges and the possibilities opened up by doing something with a tailpiece that has some interesting features and offers convenient tuning is a missed opportunity IMO. I'm kind of imagining a bridge where the main tuners move on a fulcrum to do divebombing while always returning to a set position, then when the bar is raised you get a new tuning for each string. All the benefits of a hard tail and the ability to do bends on chords with a predictable pitch range and confidence that the strings won't break.
I don't need an Epiphone Greeny. I've got the Epiphone Bonamassa Lazarus for $899 with Burstbuckers, and all I need to do is change a couple knobs to replicate his Greeny guitar.
Idk I think the emg 81/85 will always hold a place in our hearts. It’s not so much the modern edge anymore but now a classic that will always hold its own. Never cared for the blackouts and still haven’t had any real time with fishmans but I always have loved the emgs
I currently have a 2014 model of the epi lp studio deluxe and I love it. Prices back then were exactly how you said it, "the people's guitar." If I was to buy a new updated version, I couldn't even touch the Prices on this guitar anymore. Leave it to gibson to influence prices.
Realistically active pickups, emg's, were developed in the 1970's. Live sound wasn't what it is today. Needed the higher signal for longer cable runs, pushing the front end a little bit more on amps. Now with high gain amps and much higher pickup outputs on passives.. Actives aren't really necessary. I still use emg's in a lot of builds. They're easy, quick to install.
I've got a couple of the Paranormal series guitars....the Cabronita baritone, and the 70's style P-bass. They're both great instruments...the fit and finish were excellent. When I set them up, I barely had to do anything. I love the giant freaking headstock on the P-bass. It's very true to the original, ha ha! Both these guitars are a lot of bang for the buck, and I'd recommend them especially to student guitar players who want a great sounding and looking guitar for a really decent price. Good for gigging and studio, too.
Ibanez always add a T to denote that it’s a neck thru guitar and yes there have been plenty neck thru RG’s along with other shapes. They aren’t as common, but they have existed and in recent years too.
For the Paul Gilbert single-coil not being available - I remember back in the day, all of his signature guitars were wired, so you can get Strat position 2 and 4 sounds, but middle position was 2 humbuckers together - so you could not get the sound of the middle single alone. Might explain lack of info on the pickup, since it's not designed to be played alone.
If the Epi Greeny is an Inspired By Gibson model, then I'm definitely in. I'm curious about the Dave Grohl model too and I would be willing to let go of some other guitars of mine to get it if it isn't outrageous.
I won't lie I much prefer Paul Gilbert's FRM series, especially the FRM150 but it's hard to find now a days but the FRM300 is pretty awesome though I wish his prototype in the cherry red vs purple with the mini humbuckers was available. I'm just not a purple fan.
Honestly with prices jumping so high on Gibson AND Epiphone, I wouldn't be shocked if the Chibson market blew up at some point in the near future, it's already becoming quite popular. The quality of them is only getting better and better every day
Not all PAFs have A2 magnets. Just as many have A4 and A5 and some have A3. The spec specified A2 but gibson uses whatever was easier to get at any given time or what was cheapest. Most Pafs from 59 and 60 have been found to be A4 and A5 with A4 being used in 59 and A5 used in 1960. In mid 1961 gibson switches go a shorter length A5 mag . Most of the A2s come from 57 and 58 but even they were using alot of A5. Also Pafs Mags don't weaken over time. That is a myth. They were never fully charged to start with . Winders weaken the magnets in replicas to mimic the old lesser charged magnets.
That Synister Gates Schecter has a Hipshot trem. They're INCREDIBLY nice; I have one on my Kiesel Osiris. Headless is cool and I love having one, but it's definitely not something I'd put all my chips into.
If the Mustaine V's are $1399 and $1499, there's no way the Hammett sigs are less. I'd say $1499 minimum. The AJ sigs are probably going up in price before the runs are over. Only at the 3rd edition, not even halfway. They can get $1499 all day for AJ sigs. Crazy.
I love the sound of my EMG equipped guitars but recently bought a Seymour Duncan loaded ESP and there really isn’t a lot of difference at the end of the signal chain.
"... There's just SO MUCH of the guitar missing ..." Funny you should say that while I'm in the midst of considering a Harley Benton travel "Strat." When I first encountered these, they were called "pickguard guitars," because of how closely the body's outline followed the contours of the typical Strat-type pickguard. Too bad they're not available from the Reverb shop, else I would have got one already ... but have you seen these? How's THAT for, "Where's the REST of it!??⁉"😎
-Much like the beard trend, I'm counting the days until the headless guitars are relegated to the dustbin of questionable trends…and/or for jazz musicians -No, actives aren't going away, at least technically. The EMG type might be, but Fluence are pretty popular. I have a set in a Strat and…well they're not likely to stay long but it's not because they sound bad, it's just that they don't work for me. The buffered signal doesn't work with some of the things I do, and the way they respond to the volume and tone control is…off; but most of the issues I have with them are the same things that other players actually prefer. That and how everyone running into DAWs, modellers and things like that, I don't see actives going away anytime soon. *BTW, regarding "Greenie," Can we put this to rest? Turning a pickup upside down will not put it out of phase, it doesn't work that way. I don't know why this keeps getting said, particularly when it comes from writers in guitar magazines that should know better. It's even worse when its said in an ad or when you're reading a description of them on a retail site. This also applies to saying position 2&4 on a Strat is "out of phase." It's not, they're just in parallel. Lastly: I'm not a Hollowbody fan either, but a good ES335…😮oooh man, you don't even know. Les Paul Bursts with PAFs get all the love and attention. I promise this though: play a really resonant and lively 335 with a good, responsive set of PAFs and you'll know why they were nicknamed the "Burst killer." I fell in love with them as soon as I found out the solo for La Villa Strangiato was a 335. I never even liked Rush, but that's one of my favorite solos and the tone is insane. They work best when they're slightly underwound. Semihollows naturally have a lot of mid-range. So that along the slightly scooped nature of underwound pickups compliment each other in a glorious way. Sort of like how a Tube Screamer sounds killer with a Blackface fender amp. The full bass and presence of the BF mixes with the mid-hump of a TS in a way that makes it hard to shut off the tube screamer.
@@carlchameleon9847 they're SO f'cking ugly, unnecessary and…🤔 douchy. If the most obnoxious hipster was turned into a guitar, they'd be a headless one. I'll admit they're not as bad as the 80s Steinbergers that looked like a VHS cassette with a guitar neck glued to them. They were uglier than hand full of pulverized assholes. Now that I think of it, the arguments against them AND beards have a lot of overlap.
The « T » at the end of PGM1000T is for neck Through. They use it for the RG serie as the RGT. Here I assume it would be weird to use PGMT1000… so PG1000T
Is the age of active over? *laughs in Fishman* coming from an EMG user. Also agree, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the biggest win for all the Mustaine models so far for me is the Kramer. Those should’ve been pushed more.
Watch the Epiphone "Greeny" cost $1600+... I mean come on, they are Epiphones why are they charging what should be Gibson money for them. Not sure what Gibson is up to but I hope this is a lead up to changing the higher tier Epiphone models into Gibson "import models". Gibson need something like Fender's MiMs to fill the high-mid market, Epiphone doesn't belong in that segment. I don't know, maybe I am not seeing things the right way but I always felt like Epiphone was meant to be the affordable Gibson not a replacement for what used to be Gibson's lower end models. You can't even get an Epiphone LP (not special) for under $450 now unless it's discounted.
I'm not going to buy any version of Greeny so I don't care but I like see them make the same guitar down the entire lineup. It's interesting to see what they can get do it at every price point.
The PGM makes me laugh a little cause I don’t know why anyone would want that on their signature. The painted f holes - I never understood why Ibanez likes painted f holes on some of their models. Like either put actual f holes, or put some other design there. 😂🤷🏼♀️
Neck angle looks pretty flat too. That wouldn’t be the only fake in Entwistle’s book either. The alleged “Gibson Flying V bass” is a an example that comes to mind.
I love my AJ Epi which is an incredible guitar, but as a Tool fan, it made sense. These Mustaine models are moving into used American Fender and Gibson territory.
At least the Adam Jones' Epi is kind of a Limited Special Edition at 1299, seeing other Signature guitars that are not that special, and just production Signtature run at that same price, it does not make sense to me. Honestly, I would've expected to see the Mustain and DG at a similar price point to the Emily Wolfe or Jim James ($850)
thats cuz synyster and zackys dad is Brian Haner a session guitarist and comedian that is freaking crazy good guitarist and funny as hell when he talks about watching kids play
Epiphone prices just going up and up I bought just the epiphone brendon small explorer galaktikon burst for $750 crazy deal, but the dave grohl will sell out instantly no matter the price and I'm guess it will be hard to get. The last time they released his gibson version was 2007 and it's selling for $15,000 to $30,000.
Let's NOT talk about Growler, Hammet or Cynical. Let's talk about practicing more and buying less. Let's find established players and TH-camrs who are willing to help their subscribers climb higher, not open their wallets wider.
When I was a kid, whenever my friends and I heard of a new Gibson, ESP, or other custom one-off signature from one of our favorite artists… We were intrigued, sure, but we knew we weren’t going to be able to afford it any time soon, so we really didn’t care. Whenever we heard of an Epiphone, LTD, Squier, etc version of those signature models, you better believe we were super stoked because we knew we’d for sure be able to save up around $600 for one. So, I see these signature guitar prices going up and up and in Epiphone’s case becoming ridiculous, and I can’t help but just not care about any of them. I can totally afford them now as an adult, but mentally I still think to myself “holy shit, $1K+ for an Epiphone is pretty nuts” and now that they’re nearing $1.5K it’s just about gotten to the point where they just aren’t affordable options. Granted, you could argue that these particular artists’ fans have all aged into being able to afford these, but I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking these are insanely priced. So who are these really for?
Whilst they may be expensive, you're forgetting that with time, things get more expensive. It's not just epiphones that are expensive, their Gibson counterparts are obscenely expensive as well.
been waiting for a DG335 reissue for a LOOOOONNNNG time. Just waiting to see if we're getting an epiphone AND a Gibson to see if I'm going to have to fork over some serious cash
I feel like epiphone is moving away from being a beginner brand to trying to compete with Ltd especially the eclipse and signature models since you have had a lot of really cheap brands move into that beginners first guitar space like donner and glarry, while squier is doing something similar but instead they are trying unique specs that fender isn’t quite wanting to gamble on yet and making unique spec models that differentiate them from the fender models that they are based on.
On the Mustaine Vs it seems people are complaining more about the inlays being dots than the price. I think the Mustaine prophecy should have been green burst.
Personally still pretty hype for an Epiphone DG 335, even if it were to be 1500 I would rather shell that out than what the Gibson release would go for if they do drop another series of his
My guess is the “Greeny” Epiphone will be upwards of $1500. For that kind of money, I’d go get an Epi ‘59, or just get a used Gibson LP studio. Or something like that. 🤷🏻♂️
I don't like the fact epiphone is just putting artists names on models they have already. Especially when the artists don't use those models normally. It is an easy cheap way to sell guitars.
Epiphone electrics should be around $600-1000 and their acoustics should be like $1000-3000 since that’s what made Epiphone so revered to begin with prior to the Gibson buyout
They hype on epiphone sigs does seem to be down. But I think that’s just because of what’s come out as of late and coming. Greeny is cool and I might consider one myself. But I think to how look it took me to get my MKH and how it was sold out for months to start and I think the sig market just wants more interesting ones like an MKH 7 or the syn headless vs a LP like greeny. Although the pick ups alone could make it worth
Is Hammett using them or not really the decider for active pups? I mean, just like anyone else, it's completely expected that he would get bored and revert back or move on to something else. We do that when we're bored. In the same manner, I'm sure plenty of passive users are just now experimenting with actives. I've got 15 year old guitars with actives, I think they'll be around for awhile.

They work best when they're slightly underwound. Semihollows naturally have a lot of mid-range. So that along the slightly scooped nature of underwound pickups compliment each other in a glorious way. Sort of like how a Tube Screamer sounds killer with a Blackface fender amp. The full bass and presence of the BF mixes with the mid-hump of a TS in a way that makes it hard to shut off the tube screamer.
why do you hate headless so much
@@carlchameleon9847 they're SO f'cking ugly, unnecessary and…🤔 douchy.
That 12 string jazz master is actually a hockey stick….girls field hockey stick LOL
The 7 string headless version is the only iteration of that guitar body shape which makes any sense to me. I actually like this one.
Not only is that control cavity cover a P , it also resembles one
In all fairness, the headstock on the 12 string squier is a hockey stick shape, just not an ice hockey stick😂
The cavity cover is insane 8==8
I'm not going to buy any version of Greeny so I don't care but I like see them make the same guitar down the entire lineup. It's interesting to see what they can get do it at every price point.
The 7 string song on the new A7X album is 🤘🤘🤘
The PGM makes me laugh a little cause I don’t know why anyone would want that on their signature. The painted f holes - I never understood why Ibanez likes painted f holes on some of their models. Like either put actual f holes, or put some other design there. 😂🤷🏼♀️
Its funny, paul is funny. I love it
Painted f holes started with Gretsch back in the late 50s or early 60's I believe ? Yeah I don't understand that either !!! 😂
Neck angle looks pretty flat too. That wouldn’t be the only fake in Entwistle’s book either. The alleged “Gibson Flying V bass” is a an example that comes to mind.
Hockey stick 12 string fender necks are classic.
I love my AJ Epi which is an incredible guitar, but as a Tool fan, it made sense. These Mustaine models are moving into used American Fender and Gibson territory.
That headless Avenger is the best looking version of that shape, imo
At least the Adam Jones' Epi is kind of a Limited Special Edition at 1299, seeing other Signature guitars that are not that special, and just production Signtature run at that same price, it does not make sense to me.
Honestly, I would've expected to see the Mustain and DG at a similar price point to the Emily Wolfe or Jim James ($850)
I totally agree with the estimated price of $1299.
Epiphone should put a picture of Frankenstein on the back of their greeny. Or maybe a quija board.
thats cuz synyster and zackys dad is Brian Haner a session guitarist and comedian that is freaking crazy good guitarist and funny as hell when he talks about watching kids play
I just waiting for the sound Adam Jones model!!!
Dave Grohl Epi sig is out, “White Wolfe” Sheraton is in 😂😂
I'm glad I got a Brent Hinds V when they first came out and were only $800.
One of the best Epi sigs to date!
14:13 I don't like the fender forearm cut or what it's called. It's on the wrong spot for me. Otherwise looks cool👍
I really like the Jazzmaster XII and to steal from another comment I read, it’s a Smurf hat headstock
Thought on headless guitars. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
I am still waiting for Paul Gilbert to make a Fireman with a Hipshot tail.
As far as the Synyster gates schecter headless goes dont like it personally just doesn't look cool to me
I love Synister Gates but those are nah
TH-cam may demonitizd you for that back plate on the Paul Gilbert guitar…
made it here in 57 seconds
made it here in 57 minutes
Personally, I am sick of artist signatures.
any inside info on the Tom Delonge Signature Fender??
On the Mustaine Vs it seems people are complaining more about the inlays being dots than the price. I think the Mustaine prophecy should have been green burst.
That was a regular hockey stick headstock but a field hockey stick headstock 😂
Personally still pretty hype for an Epiphone DG 335, even if it were to be 1500 I would rather shell that out than what the Gibson release would go for if they do drop another series of his
That 12-string Jazzmaster needs the headstock from my MIJ StratXII, sooooo much better than that hockeystick.
My guess is the “Greeny” Epiphone will be upwards of $1500. For that kind of money, I’d go get an Epi ‘59, or just get a used Gibson LP studio. Or something like that. 🤷🏻♂️
When do you announce the giveaways?
instead of the Mustaine Kramer just buy a Jackson JS King V and his livewires.
I don't like the fact epiphone is just putting artists names on models they have already. Especially when the artists don't use those models normally. It is an easy cheap way to sell guitars.
******** Ummm??? Those are Fishman pickups in the Dave M. Epiphone V. I have the guitar on my couch rn. 🤣. Got it yesterday.
Can someone explain why the scale length is so important?
Epiphone electrics should be around $600-1000 and their acoustics should be like $1000-3000 since that’s what made Epiphone so revered to begin with prior to the Gibson buyout
Neck through RGs are not at all common in fact I think there’s been exactly 2 of them right ? One last year and now PG’s ?
They hype on epiphone sigs does seem to be down. But I think that’s just because of what’s come out as of late and coming. Greeny is cool and I might consider one myself. But I think to how look it took me to get my MKH and how it was sold out for months to start and I think the sig market just wants more interesting ones like an MKH 7 or the syn headless vs a LP like greeny. Although the pick ups alone could make it worth
No mention of Dave Grohl, even though it's in the title?
Mustaine’s are way too expensive for an Epiphone . I’d love to see a Hammett Epiphone V. LTD’s prices are getting ridiculous also.
Well seems like we will also get a Kirk Hammett Flying V in two different colors...
Lol, now I know why it’s actually called Greeny…it’s helping Gibson/Epiphone rake in all the greens. 🤑
T in an Ibanez name means Thru Neck.
Sick of the Greeny. Time to hype my signature Les Paul, the Batesy!
