It wasn't until pretty recently that I had heard about this game,(20 years later) I might have seen it back in the day but it never really caught my eye, but the more I looked into it, the more it intrigued me
So this has to be good did I just found a hidden GameCube GEM?
P.N.03 (Product Number Three) is a 2003 third-person shooter developed and published by Capcom for the GameCube. Set in a space colony compound, the game follows a female mercenary fighting against berserk robots. It was directed by Shinji Mikami and produced by Hiroyuki Kobayashi. To avoid similarities with Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, the game designers emphasized defensive and rhythmic maneuvers and a "feminine" game world.

I wouldn't call it "hidden" but its definitely a gem. It was famously part of the "capcom 5" gamecube exclusives which included resident evil 4, viewtiful joe, and a few others at the time

Literally the first few minutes of the game with the character grooving to the beat, the music style, and even certain enemy combat reminds me of Hi-Fi Rush! I'm pretty sure a bunch of the devs at Tango Gameworks used to work at either Capcom or Sega, besides just Mikami. Even the story you describe about robots going rogue, and the character of Peppermint was definitely inspired by PN03. If you haven't played Hi-Fi Rush yet, you gotta play it even if you aren't normally into music rhythm games as it's more of a 3rd person action game.

I adored this game. Absolutely loved it, completed several times before I knew you could do special attacks and massive beam attacks.

I remember seeing a lot about this in Nintendo Power back in the day. I was always curious if I missed out on a good game. Sounds like it's good for historical context around what was used from this in later Capcom titles, but as a standalone it really wasn't that special. Thanks for sharing some footage and your opinion of it!

Good video. Definitely a cool looking idea but that gameplay looks atrocious even for Gamecube standards
