So true that most people fear growing older. Also, since it is so rarely talked about, many are in denial about our physical impermanence. Getting to a ripe old age is indeed a gift when we find inner peace and a quiet joy.
Hi! I too, had that fear for years; aging and getting old. Then I started to do a lot of self work and discovery as to why I was like that and it all stemmed from messages I received from people around me when I was very young and impressionable. What I heard were actually opinions that I accepted as truth. Once I realized that my thoughts and feelings, now, create my future reality, I started to focus more on how I feel, now and how is that going to show up later? Someone recently reminded me that, "In 20 years, You're going to wish you appreciated who you are now and you'll wish you could go back". So today, I'm appreciating that right now, I am the youngest I'll ever be now, so I choose to enjoy it. Thanks, for addressing this topic. 😊
@@Cas3620 Thank you so much for sharing your valuable insights! Yes, it’s quite the perspective shift to realise that we are the youngest we will never be and to appreciate today rather than bemoaning our lost youth. 🙏🏻💜🥰
Hi😊 When I was watching your video, I thought that even younger people could benefit from what you are sharing because I think at every age, day, and moment to learn these things on how to live and experience life fully is something for every age. For, life can end at any time. Yes, I worry about growing old, yet more I worry about continuing in some ways that I've lived and am determined to change. Change has been slow for me. Those ways are a prison. As I've grown older and know the prisons that I've come through, I am more conscious of not taking moments in life for granted. I've learned to enjoy moments more. And fear? I sit with it until it dissolves and I often say a prayer with my hand on my heart, " may I have (fill in the blank). That helps me.
@@lesliemctavish4300 Thanks for your comment, Leslie.🙏🏻🥰Yes, indeed, this topic is for every age, which is really the topic of life and how to live it. Change can only happen today. This is something I realised in my 50’s. The mind traps us in its created future version of ourselves, but all we need is to see the preciousness of this day that we’ve been given to live and we can start enjoying daily transformation right away. If you haven’t seen it already, I encourage you to check out the Today List which I created on my website (no sign up needed). It is a blessing that you’ve learned to enjoy moments more, one of the remarkable blessings of aging. And thank you for sharing how you deal with fear. This is the healthiest way, to simply sit with it and not push it away or run from it. Perhaps another good prayer would be “May I know the peace within.”💜💕
I think we worry about the “what ifs”. I think that it creates more anxiety to be in that place. Whatever happens is going to happen. We can’t hold back time. We can only prepare ourselves by keeping fit, eating healthy, being engaged with people, growing our brains. I try, not always successfully, to be positive, loving, a good human. There definitely is more grace in aging. More forgiveness of ourselves and others. Things once important are not so much now. Simplicity is what I long for. And I’ll get there. 😊❤️
