In this video you'll learn to build a complete website from scratch - using the free versions of GeneratePress theme and the free version of Elementor page builder.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I own both GP and Elementor but needed clarification about how the two can work together. That information, plus a few Elementor tips convinced me that I made the right choice in using both. This is a great video, Alex! Please keep them coming.

Sorry if this is a silly question but why do you need Generate Press if Elementor has all the components to build a site? Why not use the default wordpress theme instead? What are the benefits of Generate Press?

Hey Alex, this is a very good tutorial thanks for doing it.
I have one question, I would like to use a plugin (Elementor - Header, footer & blocks) but I would need to remove the built in header and footer. Is there a way to remove the Header as well as the footer entirely?

Hi Declan, If you don't really need a header or a footer, then maybe just using 'Hello theme' since its a blank theme designed for elementor. Otherwise, you can try the 'disable elements addon' in GeneratePress premium.
Another way, might be to hide the elements in CSS described here: generatepress.com/forums/topic/remove-header/

Great video with a great deal of useful information. Thank you very much. I have one question. After I have set up my homepage on the dashboard how do I get all the pages to look like it? I built the homepage, now I want to use it as a foundation/template for all the other pages to look like it.
Hi Dr Donald, pretty easy to do that, on the bottom of the elementor side bar (left of screen) next to the 'update' button there is a little arrow where you can 'save as template'. Next time you are building a blank page you add a new section, then add a template!

ok, i understand - the 'essential addons for elementor' adds a 'EA duplicate' option in the dashboard for pages & posts - so I use this to make a copy and then rename pages I want to reuse. There are a few other more lighweight plugins that do this too if you search 'duplicate' in the plugin search. Hope that helps

Just curious, does removal of the copyright attribution violate the theme’s terms and agreements?
Generate press licence is under the general public licence (gpl)

Themes and plugins distributed on Wordpress.org are typically all gpl
It’s a great reason to use WordPress - freedom to modify the software so it works how you like it :)

Hi, If you want to use Elementor use Generate press, but you can try the pagebuilder in kadence free if you like (I haven't tried it yet).

This shows how to make a very simple blog page. If you don't want the featured images you can easily turn them off in elementor under content > featured image. Good luck :)

Concentrate on GP pro alone for a while, you’ll get a cleaner more light weight & faster result. It might take a bit more work but the extra performance is probably worth it

Yes I think so, Elementor replaces it. So I prefer to use the normal post editor for blog posts and use an SEO plugin too.

nice video! what I dont get is the difference between "custom link" and "Page". Why do you use a custom link for the "About" section and not a Page?
Hi Fritz! yes there is no need to use 'custom link' here, I only used it because I actually hadn't made the about page yet... so it was just a way to save time and show how it works :)
Custom link is normally used just to link to other websites, rather than your own wordpress pages (use 'page' for that, like you noticed!).

A suggestion for another video would be to generate a mega menu in generate press using the plugin mega max menu. There are already two videos about that on youtube, but they miss two crucial points:
1) the integration of the generate press search function in the navigation bar (very simple when using the default navigation bar, but becomes tricky when using max mega menu)
2) Insert buttons into the navigation bar (using the .button class of generate press)
