  • A video of PBA players throwing the ball straight at a full rack, rather than the normal hook ball.
    Possibly the most pointless video I’ve made…
    Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed!

    If anyone is curious why this is done, sometimes, if you're required to get lets say 7 pins to win, throwing with hook, sometimes you can pull it (miss left) or drop it (miss right) and not get the required, so its a much safer play (unless you need a strike or 9, to go straight at the pocket, or sometimes just to have fun

      also, bowling balls break down every shot, so another point you can think about is that throwing a spare ball doesn’t disrupt the oil on the lane as much as a reactive resin or urethane so that you’re shot can be saved for the next match or keep your bowling ball in max condition (just to save money on either cleaning your ball or buying more bowling balls, if you have the privilege and dedication to the sport to spend)

    I had a buddy who bowled, with a 16 lb ball, in our league, with his wife. Saw him finish a game once using his wife's 14 lb ball. I don't think the ball hit the lane for like 30 feet. The rack virtually exploded when the ball went in. Took out 9 pins...I think they were afraid to not fall! The 10 pin cowered in fear, but remained.

    • @procrastinator6902
      @procrastinator6902 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. A straight ball tends to deflect to one side, preventing it from hitting the pocket solidly altho this isn't always the case. A ball thrown well with hook and spin hits the pocket between the 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 pins and drives thru without deflection causing its path to deviate, creating a much bigger chance for a strike.

    I like how it's an entire continent (europe) vs one single country (USA)
    Lol, they do the same thing in golf with the Ryder Cup. Always struck me as odd that Europeans have to lump themselves together in order to compete against the US hahaha

    • @MrCraazed
      @MrCraazed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well I’m not sure what you want to do to make it competitive. If you exclude Russia as Golf and bowling are not sports commonly played there, the USA have a bigger population than Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain combined.

    I'll die on this hill. The logic behind this makes zero sense. "All he needs is good count and he's a winner." Ok, then throw a regular shot. You're a pro bowler that averaged 230 over 60 games on a sport shot to get here. You can hit the pocket, just like you did the whole rest of the telecast. Yes, you can wash out. Yes, Del Ballard. But over the course of a tournament and a week's worth of bowling, how many hard and straight balls do you throw at the head pin?
