Ben Finegold, though I've only discovered him 2 days ago, is one of the precious few that can explain chess so informatively and entertainingly at the same time. I think generally, people would find analyzing a game of chess to be one of the most excruciatingly boring things imaginable, but Ben Finegold proves them wrong.
Akobian is better. Finegold makes it too 'childish' and jokes too much. Akobian is a pro who also makes the viewer to think a bit instead of talking chess or dumb things all the time.
I just wanted to say GM Finegold, I love your lectures, you make chess fun and teach at the same time. Keep up the great work! You are helping Patzers like me, Or as you would say, the people in the audience at home! LOL!
Leonid Zakharovich Stein (Леонид Захарович Штейн; November 12, 1934 - July 4, 1973) was a Soviet chess Grandmaster from Ukraine. He won three USSR Chess Championships in the 1960s (1963, 1965, and 1966), and was among the world's top ten players during that era.
Great choice for a lecture. I seem to remember Stein winning some great Kings Indian's way back in the Soviet Championship era. I'll look for the old tournament books.
Well dxe5 is risky, because of ... Qd3, d4 ,d5, d6, Queen g5 attacking both queens. And then Qxd8 mate and then the board gets destroyed :DDDD Ben Finegold for President !
no, SynsityGW is correct c6 does draw the game out longer. Re8+ Kb7, Bf4 Bd3 providing an escape square for the king... or Re8+ Kc7, Bf4+ Rd6... white has no immediate mate.
There was one game, it is covered in Kasparov's book about Petrosjan and Spasski, where Stein played as black vs (Portisch? I can't quite remember) and just let one of his knights be taken by his opponent, played on without a care in the world and played a really nice game which he did not lose! I think it was a KID. I loved that game so much and it was very inspiring for me!
Interesting that he won two Soviet championships in a row and stated that he carefully studied Fischer's games. Maybe he said some unwise things after Fischer won the WCC in 1972.
And then the whole world will say " who the hell does this fat guy think he is" and then they will answer their own question: "Beats the snot out of me"
yah its mentioned in a couple vids, check out one w a title something along the lines of 'my great middlegames from the 80s' as my memory serves he sheds some light
I really like your kind of teaching Mr. Finegold. It is never boring and I can learn very much. But you really should exercise the pronunciation of the word "Zwischenzug"! I heart it and it churned me cause I am German and I could almost not understand it.
not knowing the players involved in the lecture or making fun of them in a away e.i. their names, that is not being a cool teacher . that is just plain rude and uncultured . And another thing: If you try to act like your lack of information is baddass ,it is not really, it is just plain unprofessional
DJTalpes "lack of information" haha. This is a grandmaster lecture. It is geared towards everyone who isn't a grandmaster. That would include masters. Perhaps you are a grandmaster, but I would more easily believe that you are one of those who is thinking Arby's.
That's just Ben's usual humor. You have to watch more of his videos to understand. Also, I think it's pretty ignorant of you to comment on his "lack of knowledge" when he's a grandmaster.
Queen take's f 7 mate with advantage L O L Ben of curse mating your opponent has advantage i'd sack a queen to mate Magnus Carlsen Hahahah OF CURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That zoom on "I work really hard here" :P
He is overworked
:)
scarscrews overloaded*
Ben is the coolest grandmaster I ever saw. This is his first lecture I was watching, and sure not the last one...
+Marjan Živanović how many did u watch till now?:)

I'm not so sure of that.
He’s my favorite 🤩.
finally Ben Finegold is back!!!!
27:06 That's even worse, that's worse than Checkmate!!!!!
Thanks Ben, so entertaining, i love this channel....greets from Germany
So entertaining as usual. Thanks Ben !
I just wanted to say GM Finegold, I love your lectures, you make chess fun and teach at the same time. Keep up the great work! You are helping Patzers like me, Or as you would say, the people in the audience at home! LOL!
Love the freeze frame, Paul Simon!
Great lecture as always.
Who is Paul Simon?
@@VincentFarrugia He meant Ben Simon. Paul Simon is an American singer.
9:14 Arjun is so clever hahaha he ruined Ben's joke by figuring it out before he could tell it.
I am really happy you're doing a video about my alltime favourite player :) I will enjoy it to the fullest!!!
Finally a finegold lesson again! I love that guy!
Always play Bishop f8!!! Classic!! Excellent lecture as always. Thank you

Ben make more videos I love the videos keep on working
For me you are a legend Mr FInegold
Good lecture and very funny!!!
6:05 I wont lie, he got me
This guy is awesome both informative and fun. Usually when I learn I am bored but not in this case
This is one of the most talented individuals I've ever seen!
I love these lectures, I hope he's still with the St Luis Chess Club
I LOL'ed so hard 22:52
I never can finish his lectures because of his humor
Great choice for a lecture. I seem to remember Stein winning some great Kings Indian's way back in the Soviet Championship era. I'll look for the old tournament books.
You are so good and so funny, you deserve a raise!
"I thought this was the legends in your own mind class" XD
Me too!
This is not a chess lecture, it's a fucking comedy HAHAHAH
+Daniel J. Rajaiah Agreed!
+Dajura both
Finegold does his best, and chess videos are boring AF. Finegold is one of the only chess teacher I can stand.
This is a fork between good comedy and masterfull chess teaching.
I agree, and not a particularly funny one.
Well dxe5 is risky, because of ... Qd3, d4 ,d5, d6, Queen g5 attacking both queens. And then Qxd8 mate and then the board gets destroyed :DDDD
Ben Finegold for President !
of FIDE :)
This was very entertaining!
Today I learned that bishops move backwards. thanks GM BF
15:18 "mate in 22 moves" - Eugene Nalimov
what about c6 at 9:35? still loses but no mate that i can forsee
c6 Rf8+ Kb7 Bf4 and there is no way to stop mate in 1.
If Kc7, then Bf4+ and mate in 1 is coming.
no, SynsityGW is correct c6 does draw the game out longer.
Re8+ Kb7, Bf4 Bd3 providing an escape square for the king...
or
Re8+ Kc7, Bf4+ Rd6... white has no immediate mate.

at 27:11, he could have played Bxf7 with mate rather than Qxc6
yeah that what they dissgused few seconds later
6:05 I lost it
The third game reminds me of Ivanchuk-Kasparov from Linares 1991
Leonid Stein passed at age 38 in 1973.
RIP.
Interesting that he won two Soviet championships in a row and stated that he carefully studied Fischer's games. Maybe he said some unwise things after Fischer won the WCC in 1972.
hahahah, i loved the zoom on the final video xD
This dude Grandmaster Ben Finegold really make a Mark Fuhrman reference lmao
Edit: bro he really tied it up at the end, I saw it coming
The most exciting chess player I've seen so far .
Thumbs up to Ben
Interesting, Thanks!
27:04 If Qe7 then Bxf7++ Ben missed this? Sign me up for grandmaster lol!
russians should slow down ? can someone explain this it very important
if you're rushing you're going fast. rushing - Russian. play on words.
wow !!

firendable Rush in, c4 d4 d5 rawr
Yeah fire engines are all red, and they're always rushin around.
Why isn't this guy commenting all the chess majors?
4.00 dat pic
Haha! That still at 4:07 is priceless!
27:05 Bxf7, checkmate :P
at 43:10 Bc1 is weird. why not bxe6 and if b4 bxf7+rxf7 rxf7 and if ba3 qg4 is too strong.
@15:17 Lomonosov 7 piece says mate in 23.
Ben, you cant play f5 in every game, Brock Lesnar will sue you..
Tomek Duresov Brock Lesnar won't sue him, he will f5 him.
lol
And then the whole world will say " who the hell does this fat guy think he is" and then they will answer their own question: "Beats the snot out of me"
29:20 "Class Dismissed.." haha Ben Finegold is so jokes
so jokes?!
Go 0.5x speed at 0:40, it's so chill
c'est la meme chose, 23:37 does Ben know french?
Oscar Garcia yes he lived in Belgium for several years playing chess professionally and picked up French along the way
really?
yah its mentioned in a couple vids, check out one w a title something along the lines of 'my great middlegames from the 80s' as my memory serves he sheds some light
I really like your kind of teaching Mr. Finegold. It is never boring and I can learn very much. But you really should exercise the pronunciation of the word "Zwischenzug"! I heart it and it churned me cause I am German and I could almost not understand it.
31:42 Qxd7 is not checkmate in one as Black's K could move to f8.
You're right but then Qe7# so it doesn't make any difference.
19:39 so HIGH up in the chessboard that he can do that move 😂
fuckin hilarius. GM and my idiol, ben finegold
doesn't c6 stop the mate on the first game?
AT 20:22 there is a mate in 2 super easy. Queen takes pawn on h6, King to g8, Qg7#! Hard to believe GM's missed this!
TexasSizzle Whose move is it?
Agreed.
"not very explosive here..." too good.
somehow the c4 explosives didnt detonate.
Vous parlez très bien français ! Very good :D
at 8:47, an homage to jim garrison's wit?
At 4:05 xDD LOL!!! Hahahaa
Who else puts this as background noise when working. Like if you do.
Ben is the bestestestest
Buena
"That guy is right, whoever that guy is, ok?" :D
4:00 lol
#finegold4bestgm
that's an elected position, right?
What about Rubenstein? I heard he was pretty good.
4:05
15:16 Tablebase says #23
agreed let honor stein...😂👍
Why is he always picking on Ken West?
Because Mr. West has been playing chess for ages but has a low rating.
22:50 LOL
0:01
Fuck I had a good lol at Qd3
Hi
Is he always 14yo when he talks of being a young lad?
22:50
8:40 ahahahaahaha
Two A players didn't know how that rule works?!
You're just asking me to say: 'I just lost from my dog?'.
I've just now played a game of chess with a random dog :) ...and lost.
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Boh, whoa, whoa!
Nevermind. Thought I saw a Knight on f5. My bad
10:20
20:33 kf5 is better cuz then mate is unavoidable except u trade ur quin while taking the pawn is good but then black can stop mate with rook g8
wow, my favorite german word is kenwest!
this guy's mad funny
Bring back GM Akobian
Both GM Akobian and GM Finegold are great teachers in my view
'... yes?'
'no'
'close'

DJTalpes "The oak (finegold) does not care, if a pig (you) is rubbing its back against it. " Nothing left to say...
That's just Ben's usual humor. You have to watch more of his videos to understand. Also, I think it's pretty ignorant of you to comment on his "lack of knowledge" when he's a grandmaster.
he has the chess knowldege no doubt about that, but basic names and dates...
yesenadam lol, nice job troll. I see you're very dedicated to your work.
"His opponent did some crazy thing ruining the computer." :D
:D
I'd take lessons from this guy just for the jokes. "Qh6 mate will give white the advantage."
*dab*
Ftacnik analysis of Petrosian game...
Lol queens gambit accepted, make an exception for ken west.
King e-8 threatening to castle, that was hands down the funniest thing i've ever heard. th-cam.com/video/eM82L0n3Q7A/w-d-xo.html
Lmao Arjen's voice
