I remember coming home from 1st grade, doing my homework as quickly as possible, then playing this game. Whenever I got to Bowser's road a sadness would come over me. That's what videogame music does to you. It makes you feel so many emotions in relation to the levels you're in. That's when you know a game has a great soundtrack.
Nintendo had an awesome Indian/Middle Eastern vibe going throughout their games at around this time. You can hear that in this song, but also in various instances during Ocarina, Yoshi's Story, and Diddy Kong Racing off the top of my head. It made the experience just a little more magical IMO.
I realized that for many other tracks but not this one, now I can hear the influence, although that influence disappeared in the future games where they made it sound more alien
Super mario 64 still is and always will be the greatest Mario game ever made, my very first Nintendo 64 game I played was this very game when I was 6. I Still play it today. Thats 15 plus years of awesomeness.
I love how they remastered this theme for super mario galaxy. I've been playing that game since I was 4 and my favorite level for the longest time was the second bowser level, so when I finally got to play mario 64 I felt so excited when I heard this song. Reusing themes can be a little tricky because it can come off as laziness but I'm really glad they reused this track

This theme, reminds of Peters hill Primary School, my childhood school between the ages of 4 and 11. When I was there, me and my friends would become the evil league with me as Lord bowser their leader . We would have many adventures together on the large wooden playground at break times. And often after school , I would stay at an after school club playing on the field and see the setting sun over the school and think of this song, on my final day of Peters hill (July 20th 2018), Of childhood, I had fallen out with my cousin in prior months and on that last break time and I was heading up the play equipment with all my friends for one last fight with my cousin Callum over the setting sun , all my adventures and stories led up to that moment. I was confronting the final boss of my childhood , heading towards him, like my very own Bowser’s Road. Afterwards, I went to redhill secondary school and my teenage life began but every setting sun or glimpse of Peters hill reminds me of this music alongside my childhood memories, fall outs, fun, fights, freedom, nolstagic school trips, discos and that fateful leaving day, of minecraft with friends after school and birthday parties at soft play areas. All connected by the theme of Bowsers Road.
Also I forgot the school crushes part in that nolstagia part, I had two which lasted way longer than they should. A girl named Kayleigh I thought was Princess peach so , as bowser, I crushed on her and kept capturing her. I was very strange.
I grew with this and I¿m playing Galaxy right now... a lesson has been learned, never underestimate the italian plumber when he features a platform game
Super Mario 64 is the HARDEST of the 4 games in the series, BY FAR. If you ever played the game, you know it too. People have had that game since it came out and STILL haven't beaten. With the lack of internet and expert strategy guyides. Figuring certain puzzles out was near impossible, and it was so satisfying when you did. Besides that people think the Galaxy games are harder, they're more difficult than Sunshine, but not even close to this level. Super Mario 64 was truly for Mario GAMERS.
