I wanted to see Gohan awakening to his strongest form after being beaten by his beloved teacher, Piccolo-san, even just once. No way, I didn't think that the official who had been treating Gohan and Piccolo badly until now would really do it now. I never even thought about the last magic piercing light killer. For me, who has been a fan of Gohan (and Piccolo) for a long time, this movie is like a dream.
Gohan and Piccolo are my favorites, too. This movie was like glass of cold water after wandering through a desert devoid of hardly any character development for them. Not that I don't love watching Uncle Piccolo bond with Pan, but I was more than ready for him to be back on par with the Saiyans.

I think it's a huge thing that we were able to make a movie that shows both Gohan and Piccolo obtaining new forms, achieving such great feats, and also showing the strong bond between master and disciple. I'm really glad that this movie was made two years before Toriyama-sensei passed away. Right now, I'm filled with gratitude.

Yall need to look further back. Beast has been there all along. Everytime gohan overpowered people capable of destroying planers as child, everytime his anger spiked his power grew. Gohan isn't scared of fighting, he's scared of what he will do to someone who pushes him too far
