    感謝介紹,不過看字幕就知道其實從頭到尾就一堆英文裡面的法文字了 🤣
    只是感覺這比較偏語言學 (linguistics) 嗎? 🤔 -我承認我是為了語言學才學法文的-
    尤其是學了法文之後對一些比較長的英文單字也會更好記
    例如 les fenêtres --> -defenestration-

i am a native English-speaker born in Taiwan and grew up in Canada and still living in Vancouver, Canada. Now that I am learning French, I see French words in English left, right, and centre. A lot of French people do not realize that these are also English words. And English-speakers may not be so familiar with these words as well. As I am learning French, I feel like I am learning English as well:
The following words exist in both English and French and their meanings are about the same:
-ameliorer (to ameliorate), often translated as "to improve"
-augmenter (to augment), often translated as "to increase"
    -farce, "trick or treat", trick=farce
-annuler (to annul), often translated as "to cancel". To annul is often used for something more serious eg. marriage, contracts...
    -breeze
-puree (sorry cannot do french accents on my laptop), mashed potatoes in french would be potates puree
-poser un question (to pose a question); in English to pose a question is more serious than to merely ask a question
-affluent means rich in English, in French it's like to be in something
American State names with French origins:
-Maine (unclear where the word comes from; one theory is that it's from French)
-Vermont (vert mont = green mountain)
    -Detroite (d'etroite, etroite = narrow)
the more obvious ones are everywhere:
    -question
    -response
    -riche/rich
    -panic
    -pessimist/pessimiste
    -optimist/optimiste
    -mirror/miror
-i think the English word mural comes from the French word mur (wall)
    -progressive
    -communication
-from corriger (to correct) we get the English words corrigible, incorrigible
    -desordre=disorder
    -etrange = strange, foreign
this foreigner is very strange; cet etranger est tres etrange
    -langue maternelle = mother tongue
    -langue = tongue or language
    -langage = language
    -liberal
    -conservative
    -attaquer (to attack)
    -intermediate/intermediare
    -calendar/calendrier
    -donation
-donner (to give) gives us English words like donation
-fete (the British may use this word for party)
    -souvenir
    -revenue
    -cost/coute
-ecouter gives us English words like acoustics
    -overt comes from ouvert
    -signifie/signify
    -docteur/doctor
    -poulet gives us poultry
    -oil/huile
    -boef/beef
    -jus/juice
    -tea/the
    -paper/papier
    -lamp/lampe
    -equip
    -subject/sujet
-from ciel i think we get celetial
-arbre, we have words in english with arbre as the root; arbretorium,
    -science
    -Greek/grec
    -Bretagne/Britain
    -mountain/montagne
-raisins is grapes, sec raisins is raisins
    -suffer/souffrir
    -support
    -apartment
    -effort
    -durable
    -pardon
    -centre/center
    -real/reelle
    -false/faux
    -raison/reason
    -lesson/lecon
-with the word doigt (finger) comes digit
    -rice/riz
-savage/sauvage; sauvage is often translated as wild like wild rice
    -inclination
    -university
    -train
-formation, in English, some may use this word to refer to "training" as the French use it
-quatre/quarter both words have to do with the number 4
    -promenade
    -video
    -frere (brother), think fraternity, fraternal
    -soeur (sister), sorrities
    -petite
    -chaise lounge
-bureau (office), think fbi (federal bureau of investigation)
-reunion (to meet); for the french a reunion could be like an office meeting whereas for the English it's a more meaningful gathering like family reunions, or your 25 year high school reunion
    the list is endless
yes we need to beware of faux amis but they are exceptions. there are way more vrais amis as illustrated by the list above

Julie your English is amazing. You should speak some brief dialogues in English to demonstrate how well you have mastered English pronunciation.

    西班牙文會法文也看懂八成,所以西英法很近,他們只要二年就能熟會,台灣人學英文要十年以前,現在約有電腦軟体,可以四年可學會英文切一半,也就是一半英文老師將失業
