What a pleasant little surprise from this direct. I'm glad RF fans get to experience this game for the first time. The DS version of this has skyrocketed in price. It's a little outdated compared to RF4 but it's still a great playthrough with a cute story.

I have no idea where I would even get a RF 3 ROM from without some kind of virus getting into my computer, I'm sure there are people who don't know what a ROM even is. Not everyone has the same resources as you do.

If you don’t have virus protection on your computer already that will protect you regardless, I don’t know how you survive using the internet at all. Having anti-virus protection is just basic computer having. And it takes nothing at all to download two items and smash them together just like in real life. If you understand the concept of how to insert object A into object B in real life you know how to do it in DS emulation. This isn’t console emulation where you have to deal with +1 or +2 extra things. All in all emulation takes maybe at most 30 minutes to set up from the ground up if you’re slow. If you don’t have the time for 30 minutes you probably don’t have the time to play video games in the first place.

I have so much fond memories with this game, being my first Rune Factory series, I chose Shara once, I will do it again. Also, I hope they feature the song "Like the Wind" by Joe Rinoie & Yazumi Kana again, I love that song til this day.
Shara seems kind of bland to be honest. She never really says or does anything too interesting in the game. It doesn’t even feel like your relationship changes as your hearts do. She always acts the same pretty much. The thing I liked about RF3 was that the quest system was linked to each characters story and it was fun to do quests because you got to know each character better, but shara never got a lot of quest so I feel like she never became a fleshed out character. My first play through I chose Raven because I liked her story and character arc but my second play through I got farther in Carmen and Carlos’ quests and Their such a charismatic duo and I kind of like Carmen’s characterization. I don’t know. That’s me personally I guess. I think that’s why I never really cared about Shara. Maybe that’s not a perfect self-analysis. Anyway, sorry for the impromptu rant. This game is pretty awesome and I might buy it if they add new content or it’s cheap enough.
Same, this was also my first rf game. At first my target was sakuya but later in the game i chose sophia instead, though tbh i like her sister more 🤣 . Though eventually i did all the mirrageable candidate, I did max everyones heart then save. Miss that rainbow girl and the store owners daughter.
i chose Raven on my first playthrough , and at the second one , i chose ... Raven again , i just can't let her go . In my current playthrough , i keep chosing Raven , she is just that good
yea Raven is very interesting, her inner conflict just makes you want to be with her, to protect her. Ngl I was kinda conflicted between Shara or Raven but I end up with Shara cus Im somewhat bias towards the first bachelorette we meet in most dating sim games I played haha, other than that I just like her calming n mature demeanor.
It is nice to see Rune Factory 3 on the Switch. I loved the game when I was younger. It would be great if they released a special for RF 1 and 2 as well.
I feel like 3 and 4 hold well enough on their own already. 1 and 2 might need more work to remaster, but I'm hopeful they will make a Special edition for RF1 and RF2. Maybe we'll get a Frontier and Tides of Destiny port as well in the future!
As someone who has played every Rune Factory game, I am pumped. RF3 revolutionized the series, adding tons of skill levels and depth to the combat system, letting you fight alongside townspeople, and adding a ton of quality of life improvements that make the gameplay so much faster (the ability to just hold multiple items at once looked so goofy at first, but it was so darn convenient). Not to mention that the characters had so much personality, even if there were barely any people with a normal personality. I think the one flaw is that it's too short, especially compared to the games that came after it. I'm still buying it day 1.
To me it's the best in the series next to RF4 (RF4 just essentially took everything that RF3 did and polished it). The characters in this one I think are the series' best, as each felt unique. And I think Raven is #1
This game will be worth it for new rune factory players. The story line is amazing. Interesting that they are working backwards on remakes. But I am thrilled Rune Factory is getting revived and will continue strong!

Rune factory 3 has always been my favorite out of the others Rune factory 4 is a close second but 3 will always be most favorite one. Raven was my all time favorite bachelorette.
Okay I know all the comments are talking about how good RF3 is, and yes, I am super excited too. But what makes me more happy is that this is basically paving the way for RF2S and RF1S. RF2 is my second favorite right before RF4. I'm praying with all my heart for the success of these games.
Rune Factory 3 was my very first introduction to the series so i am SO excited to replay it on the switch. Its so aesthetically looking too! The art is so beautiful!
Pay attention to the wording. It says "New Series in Development". If it would be RF6 they would probably say something along the lines of "Next Entry in the Series" or "Brand new Game". But they, very specifically, say New Series. Which implies that not only a new Game is in the making but also a new Game that will be the start of a whole new RF-Series consisting of several Games all tied together. I would think along the lines of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Same brand name, similar concepts but each their own thing. With RF1-4 they've cycled through the 4 Main-Elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Wind) and the Empire was defeated. With RF5 they tackled the Elements Light & Shadow and introduced a One-Time-Enemy. Maybe they want to conclude their Norad-Dragons & Earthmates-Arc and want to start fresh. Maybe another Continent on the same Planet. Or a brand new World with a brand new setting and rules. Or maybe they're making a RF Sub-Series that'll be more akin to Fantasy Life with more diverse professions. I for one am super curious what they're brewing up over there! ♥

I was introduced to the Rune Factory series when my Grandma gave me Rune Factory Frontier for Christmas. I never finished it, but always had it in my mind. Years later during college, I looked up the series as saw that Rune Factory 4 special was coming out. Feeling bad that I never finished Frontier, I got it the day it came out. I instantly fell in love with the world, gameplay and characters. While I've yet to get Rune Factory 5, I plan on doing so soon. And I'm definitely getting Rune Factory 3 Special when it comes out!
I always looked into the rune factory series to play, what makes 3 a better start to the series to get into the series than all the others? There's only one video on the games and where to start but the creator just ended up reccomending five and I don't know which is or would be more budget friendly and would help newer players get into the games.

I always felt she should have the main girl of the game. Her story I felt was the strongest out of all the girls, and she is just like the main character who hides the same secret he has. Plus they seemed to have more chemistry together than Micah did with Shara. Then again that's just my opinion.
Rune Factory 3 had the best cast in the series by far. I remember picking it up when I bought a DSI because it was 20 bucks. At the end of the DS life cycle it was the game I sunk the most hours into. If you're new to the game or series you're in for a real treat.
Thank the heavens RF5 was good enough to keep the series alive. 🙏 So happy to see 3 getting a "Special" port like 4 did. Let's hope RF6 or whatever this next game is learns from what 5 did/didn't do and makes it a great game

I'm glad the series is continuing, RF5 was lacking after post game. I never got the chance to play RF3 this special edition is second chance for me. Farming Sim with rpg elements such a perfect mix.

Ah yes, my first Rune Factory that my friend introduced to me way back in high school. Can't wait to experience this all over again and inevitably fall in love with Karina even more while waiting for the new Rune Factory which still I am so grateful for cause I really never thought this series would come back after Neverland filed for bankruptcy.
It would be nice to get a Rune Factory 2 Special, or maybe some other spin-off, someday. I want to watch Aria and Kyle grow up too. RF2 and RF3 are my favorites in the series, though I adored RF and RF4's protagonists a lot. RF5 is great too, just a bit lackluster since past games set the bar too high.
Finally we don't have to spend a fortune anymore to be able to play this game. RF3 is one of the best games I've ever played and I love it to death. But please, please, please include the original opening song Happiness, that song makes me instantly cry like nothing else. I NEED IT IN HD. this announcement brought me happy tears! I used to play this particular Rune Factory game all the time with my little sister especially since it had a very fun multiplayer system! It’s a very charming game, I can’t recommend this one enough!
I thought i was dreaming! Rune Factory 3 is my first and most favorite Rune Factory game! And the only game where I have a hard time deciding on a spouse! Every character is very memorable, the MC is quite savage, the storyline is fun (although short sadly), and it doesnt have those random events like in RF4. I replayed it many times and not getting bored of it! I Can't wait to get this one :' And the new RF game! I am so happy this series is alive!!

I hecking love RF3. To the people that started with RF4, this entry is way more anime in the way it handles its characters with each one having a very strong personality quirk. So do keep that in mind when going into this with how muted most of the characters are in 4!
Got Rune Factory 4 on switch about 2 years ago. I was so hesitant cause I wasn't sure I would like it's take on the farming/sim/rpg type of game. Oh boy did I fall in love with it from the moment I fell from the ship 😂😂 I'm so excited to see what 3 has to offer :)
I'm actually stoked at all these farming games coming out for the Switch, the games I grew up playing and enjoyed the most. RF was unique because not only was it a farming game but it had a whole battle system with it.
I was not expecting this at all but I'm so happy. Rune Factory is such a great series. I love it so much. Super pumped for this and the new game they teased at the end
I looooved Rune Factory 2 the most and will pay anything for that one in particular to also be added to the Nintendo switch! It was cool how depending on your partner, your child would look different and there’s also the chance of having twins! Plus the witch who changed the weather was really cool, alongside the sound track 😂❤

YESSSS! I can finally get to play this game legitimately! I bought a copy of the original game about a year ago, only to find out that it wouldn't work past the tutorial for some reason. Whenever I just spoke to someone or triggered a introduction cutscene the game would just freeze, the music would still play but the game just stops and refuses to continue working. But gladly this is going to make my rune factory journey much easier, as I have currently made it my mission to play all of the games.
This was the first rune factory game I played n I still have the game on my 3 ds and it’s still a favorite of mine I loved the aesthetic of the game and the characters none of them were boring and the soundtrack was just on point so yeah I’m ready for some nostalgia pleaser 💖🖤
I think people who aren't in the rune factory community don't realise how big this is. The fact that they're announcing a spin off literally right after 5 shows how well 5 did. It feels so good to be a RF fan now because years ago we didn't even know if the series would be alive after the developers shut down.
One of the best Rune factories!!! I hope they bring back the online dungeon mode so I can play with my friends. The new spin off series most definitely like Tides of Destiny or Frontier. Both were great so I’m looking forward to it!
After Rune Factory 3 was never released in Germany, and international Copies are few and a far in between and if available super expensive, I'm so incredible happy for this out of the blue announcement! Especially since RF3 is almost as highly praised as RF4 and is the 2nd most beloved RF Game out there. This is even more exciting because of the fact that RF5 just didn't do it for me, it felt lackluster in almost every aspect. But with RF3 I can buy it without thinking twice, since we all already know that it is a good Game! It'll also expand on my RF Game Collection on my Switch and it'll be nice to add another entry to my library and see them all sitting next to each other, cuddling and being a happy RF Family! ♥ I'm also super exited for this brand new Series they've announced and I wonder what this might be about! I'm very curious on thoughts on this because it seems interesting series but don't know which game of the series is best to begin for the series to get into and why.

@@MetalAcrean, I was looking into 4 specials and it's still a possibility, but I am curious about where would be a good start and why because 5 is the double price of 4 and has too many glitches it seems. There's only one video on the games and where to start but the creator just ended up reccomending five and I don't know which is or would be more budget friendly and would help newer players get into the games.

I didn’t think 3 would get a special version too! This is so amazing! I only wish they added a female protagonist too. But I’m happy with it. Rf3 was an amazing game. The opening song is my favourite

I always felt she should have the main girl of the game. Her story I felt was the strongest out of all the girls, and she is just like the main character who hides the same secret he has. Plus they seemed to have more chemistry together than Micah did with Shara. Then again that's just my opinion.

I never got to play the DS games and my country didn't get the ToD Wii version. I really hope they do.

Rune Factory 3 had the best cast in the series by far. I remember picking it up when I bought a DSI because it was 20 bucks. At the end of the DS life cycle it was the game I sunk the most hours into. If you're new to the game or series you're in for a real treat.

I'm glad the series is continuing, RF5 was lacking after post game. I never got the chance to play RF3 this special edition is second chance for me. Farming Sim with rpg elements such a perfect mix.

As someone who got introduced to the series with 5 and sunk over 200 hours into it, I’m pretty hyped for this.
This gives me hope that someday we will get Rune Factory Frontier Special.

It would be nice to get a Rune Factory 2 Special, or maybe some other spin-off, someday. I want to watch Aria and Kyle grow up too. RF2 and RF3 are my favorites in the series, though I adored RF and RF4's protagonists a lot. RF5 is great too, just a bit lackluster since past games set the bar too high.
Finally we don't have to spend a fortune anymore to be able to play this game. RF3 is one of the best games I've ever played and I love it to death. But please, please, please include the original opening song Happiness, that song makes me instantly cry like nothing else. I NEED IT IN HD. I don't care how it's included, it just needs to be there..
this announcement brought me happy tears! I used to play this particular Rune Factory game all the time with my little sister especially since it had a very fun multiplayer system! It’s a very charming game, I can’t recommend this one enough!
I thought i was dreaming! Rune Factory 3 is my first and most favorite Rune Factory game! And the only game where I have a hard time deciding on a spouse!
Every character is very memorable, the MC is quite savage, the storyline is fun (although short sadly), and it doesnt have those random events like in RF4.
I replayed it many times and not getting bored of it!

To the people that started with RF4, this entry is way more anime in the way it handles its characters with each one having a very strong personality quirk. So do keep that in mind when going into this with how muted most of the characters are in 4!

Got Rune Factory 4 on switch about 2 years ago. I was so hesitant cause I wasn't sure I would like it's take on the farming/sim/rpg type of game. Oh boy did I fall in love with it from the moment I fell from the ship 😂😂 I'm so excited to see what 3 has to offer :)

I'm actually stoked at all these farming games coming out for the Switch, the games I grew up playing and enjoyed the most. RF was unique because not only was it a farming game but it had a whole battle system with it.

I looooved Rune Factory 2 the most and will pay anything for that one in particular to also be added to the Nintendo switch! It was cool how depending on your partner, your child would look different and there’s also the chance of having twins!

YESSSS! I can finally get to play this game legitimately!
I bought a copy of the original game about a year ago, only to find out that it wouldn't work past the tutorial for some reason. Whenever I just spoke to someone or triggered a introduction cutscene the game would just freeze, the music would still play but the game just stops and refuses to continue working.
But gladly this is going to make my rune factory journey much easier, as I have currently made it my mission to play all of the games.
This was the first rune factory game I played n I still have the game on my 3 ds and it’s still a favorite of mine I loved the aesthetic of the game and the characters none of them were boring and the soundtrack was just on point so yeah I’m ready for some nostalgia pleaser 💖🖤

I think people who aren't in the rune factory community don't realise how big this is. The fact that they're announcing a spin off literally right after 5 shows how well 5 did. It feels so good to be a RF fan now because years ago we didn't even know if the series would be alive after the developers shut down.
500,000 copies shipped does not mean good.
5 was a disappointment. I hope they learned something from it.

After Rune Factory 3 was never released in Germany, and international Copies are few and a far in between and if available super expensive, I'm so incredible happy for this out of the blue announcement! Especially since RF3 is almost as highly praised as RF4 and is the 2nd most beloved RF Game out there. This is even more exciting because of the fact that RF5 just didn't do it for me, it felt lackluster in almost every aspect. But with RF3 I can buy it without thinking twice, since we all already know that it is a good Game! It'll also expand on my RF Game Collection on my Switch and it'll be nice to add another entry to my library and see them all sitting next to each other, cuddling and being a happy RF Family! ♥
I'm also super exited for this brand new Series they've announced and I wonder what this might be about!
With RF1-4 they've pretty much cycled through the 4 Main-Elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Wind) and the Empire was defeated.
With RF5 they tackled the Elements Light & Shadow and introduced a One-Time-Enemy but at least for me this Story didn't work all to well.
Maybe they now want to conclude their Norad-Dragons & Earthmates-Arc and want to start fresh. Maybe another Continent on the same Planet (with RF5 they've now pointed at the existence of at least one God, so maybe Gods will be the next topic?). Or a brand new World with a brand new setting and rules. Or maybe they're making a RF Sub-Series that'll be more akin to Fantasy Life with more diverse professions.
I for one am super curious what they're brewing up over there! ♥

I had tons of fun playing RF4 special. It had great characters and the combat was good at balancing difficulty. People say this game is good to, so I’m excited!
To me, while RF4 has better gameplay, 3 has better NPCs and comedic antics as well as the relationships
I really hope that the new rune factory project will be along the lines of rune factory frontier, my absolute favourite game of ALL TIME 😭
