Have subscribed to sharpen my moves, no bum wiggling or needless hybrid mutant Lindy-Hop to dilute the experience! This is a great guide!!!!

i am SOOOO happy i found this , im going to VLV and i wanna be ready to hit the floor this yr with my partner . this is by far the best vid i have seen
@kategreen15 It's Rockabilly Jiving...not to be confused with Ballroom International Standard Jive. Rockabilly Jiving was done by "Teddy Boys", teens in England who were rock n' roll fans in the 1950's. The International Standard Jive is a ballroom dance that's done (ironically enough) to re-recordings of '50's rock n' roll songs that have been timed (hence the re-recordings) for ballroom dance competitions. Both styles are English takes on American swing dancing.
There is no set 'specific' footwork in freestyle rockabilly 50s jive around the world. It is really good that you show people that men really MUST move their feet, to look good and 'feel' the rhythm. I see some really boring looking men that just stand glued to the floor like a statue from the waist down, They whirl the girls around the dance floor using only their hands. There are many dance schools in England wrongly claiming to teach rock & roll jive, when it is really ballroom jive.
While you are correct that there aren't any real specific steps in Jive I've found it imperative to have both partners moving to a count so that they stay in rhythm hence an accounted step for each beat. I can stand in place and Jive the hell outta my partner. It just looks so much more exciting when you're both in-step.

yep it is, rockabilly jive. much more fun than ballroom, goes great with buddy holly and music from the 50's.
