I had come back from Vietnam in July of '70 (didn't extend) and was back at Ft. Gordon, Georia (Augusta, Georgia) where I served the final 3+ months (drafted) of my military career. I ended up spending that time sharing a 3 bedroom house with 4 other guys at 1931 Tubman Home Rd. in Augusta. Just down the road from home was Pedros Tacos and it was there that I played this song in Pedros' small dining area which had a jukebox. On 06 Nov '70 I flew home, alive, to SoCal. Best day of my life.

John Fogerty's voice is better here, at 62, than it was when he was in his early 20's. I think the time off in mid-career was a healthy thing. This whole concert at The Wiltern was magnificent. First class musicianship!

@epicizlil CCR did this song, yes! But CCR broke up in 1972 (rythm guitarist Tom Fogerty left the band in 1971). John Fogerty have a sucessful solo career nowadays. Drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford and bassist Stu Cook are playing in the band: Creedence Clearwater Revisited (1995 - present).
Man what an awesome song. I actually like the live version better than the recording. This concert was on comcast HD the other day and I DO recommend it!
@happy04346 I have the 6 cd box set, The story is all in there. Every time one of them wanted to sing lead on a song or use a song tey wrote John would say "Why mess with success?" and that was that. Tom left to pursue a solo career ( he was the original vocalist). He later died from teburculosis. The band later split up. When they were inducted in the HOF in '93, they went on stage seperately.
