    So sorry about the music being too loud during the voice over. I may even redo this video to fix this issue. It was a crazy night trying to put this together 😳🤪😉💜

    I must commend you for your reply to the person who made the comment about your religious tones through out your videos. You continue and do things just EXACTLY as you are! There is absolutely nothing wrong with you, or anyone else simply because they have a spiritual background! They are not required to share your views to benefit from your videos, and should remember that you are giving of your talent and time freely, and they are benefiting from it, the very LAST thing they should do is criticize how you do it! You GO GIRL!

    This is an excellent example of why just replicating what you see in a photo has a tendency to produce a flat, even lifeless painting...that tree line in your photo really doesn't appear to differ much in value to the eye, but you applied what you know about color and value and how they are affected by distance, and as a result your painting had life and depth and is more realistic -- more believable, really -- than the photo! Such a good lesson here!!

    The thing with music that sounds like "noise" is that the more you listen to it, the more you can hear the hidden harmonies. It's something akin to watching out for colors that are'nt that apparent in a landscape, for example.

      Wendy Simm thanks so much for that genuine and thoughtful comment. It may sound strange, but I’m actually not religious either. I’m a follower of Jesus Christ. He actually hated the religion of his day because of its hypocrisy and attempts to work your way to God. Not much is changed, but I praise him for what he did for me and the peace I have knowing I am free from sin and have eternal life.
      Blessings!!

    Another great video. Thank you! For anyone in the UK that wants to try a dark sanded surface on a budget while practicing, Screwfix do a paper called "Titan Wet and Dry Sanding Paper" they do it in various grits from 120 up to 1200 and it costs only around £3.99 for 10 sheets. It is the only sandpaper not meant for art purposes that I have found the pastels stick to and it is nice to work on. I have only tried the higher grits above 600 so not sure what the lower grits are like.

    LOVE the mood you created in this picture. Talking about a colour freak ... I am so with you in this. I am only just getting back into pastel painting (was after charcoal my very first painting experience), then changed into silk painting (very colourful also), then acrylics ... but I need to go “back home” into what I enjoy so much: dry pastels. At the very beginning in working in arts, I made the experiment of painting a very colourful pastel painting (Greece with its intense colours) and then created the same picture again in black and white (charcoal) to reproduce the exact VALUES. A VERY interesting and revealing experiment! Thanks for your videos. They are motivating for me to take up from where I left so many years ago.

    Please help, I have purchased some pastels and want to begin learning with them. I am probably a mid range on skill level artist with acrylic and oil, but love the brightness of pastel. Some of the pastels I have purchased are soft and waxy like crayons, others, (I didn't know this when I purchased them) are the same consistency as chalk, of course, the two, do not mix. Please tell me what you are using. The dry chalky, or waxy crayon brand? And both of them smear when completed. Do you "varnish' the completed paperwork with anything? Thank you for any and ALL help. These free videos say so much about you and I can't thank you enough!

      @monetcafe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angelina Dupre' ... hi Angelina and those are great questions. I’m sure you’re aware that the quality of materials makes such a difference with most mediums. The soft pastels that I use are not waxy or oily at all. Some of my favorite brands are: unison, Mount vision, Terry Ludwig, and Sennelier. These can get somewhat expensive, but I recommend getting a starter set. Mount vision has a couple of pretty good starter sets that might be good to purchase.
      Have you joined our Facebook group yet? If not, you will get so much helpful information from many pastel artists of every level. You can pretty much ask any question and get so many helpful tips.
