I think another important thing to mention is he didn't sign on the dotted line until they allocated roughly 60% more salary for assistant/coordinator positions at Virginia Tech. He was able to take one look and see that if Tech wants to ascend from a perennial top-25 program to a perennial top 10~15 program they were going to need a better support structure than what was established under the previous coaching staff. I'm pretty sure we're 2nd in the ACC in money allocated for assistants now just behind Clemson, which is exactly where we need to be if we wanna compete with Dabo for ACC titles.
This guy gets it, he gets Hokie Nation!!!! I cannot wait to see how far he takes our team!! In the first 3 minutes we've seen more emotion and passion from him than we did for 6 years with Fuente and a true acknowledgement of the Hokie fan community!
I played for coach Pry at Vandy ( he was there for the 3 beat years on Vanderbilt history coaching backers. Great coach great man. A players coach. I think he will do a great job Great hire! Rooting for him
It seems to me like Pry kept putting an emphasis on "treating people right" and "building relationships". I have a feeling that stuff was missing with previous staff.
As a Penn State fan, I hate to see him leave Happy Valley. You guys have a phenomenal coach. I wish he was head coach at PSU, but feel good for VA tech. You have the best coach possible.
He appears to be the perfect fit for VT: humble, family man, team first, aggressive, tenacious, and with integrity. Let's hope our future football success bodes as well as this press conference.
This coach is at a great disadvantage by getting started so late. Finding a good OC will be tough. If he can hire a good OC he will be successful. I liked his defenses at Penn St.
Grizzly guy, not clean cut. Doesn’t look like a salesman. I don’t see him being able to out-recruit UVA. He’s already giving scholarships to guys who have no other offers from any school. Or they might have an offer from a school like Old Dominion or Coastal Carolina. Whit Babcock needs to go. You get your first shot at Old Dominion not Virginia Tech.
And yet he made several Great hires to improve the VT athletic programs and raised money to improve the faculties to. Even the Fuente hire was beneficial. 3 seasons of 8 or more wins and Fuente pushed for those faculty improvements. Yeah, we should DEFINITELY get rid of Whit because he's..."lame".. 😒

Your definition of great is off and doesn't take into account the trajectory VT athletics was on vice the trajectory we're on now. Accepting mediocrity is BS friend.

The women Basketball Team is much better. I can seriously keep going and get more into details.. But I have a feeling you only care about 1 thing rather then seeing the whole picture. And I can't tell someone like "go do research".. because they wouldn't know where to start. Pretty lame if you ask me, but ok.
