How to Free Up Space on Your Phone Using Google Photos

- Is your phone's storage always getting full? Tired of having to delete stuff all the time to make room for the new stuff? Watch this video to learn how to free up storage space on your iOS or Android smartphone using Google Photos.

Once you’ve installed Google Photos, open the app and log in to your Google Account, or sign up if you don’t have one yet. When you log in for the first time, you’ll be prompted with the “Back Up & Sync” feature. Tap Back Up as [your name] to enable this feature. Then, select the quality you’d like to have your photos uploaded in. We’d recommend sticking to High Quality. Tap Confirm. Your photos and videos will then start being backed up to Google Photos. The amount of time this takes will vary depending on how many images you have to upload.
Once the process is complete, your images will be stored in Google Photos and you can go ahead and delete your photos and videos from your device’s camera roll. If you’d like Google Photos to delete images from your device’s storage once they’ve been uploaded, tap the menu icon in the top left corner. Then select Free Up Space. To confirm, tap Delete.

I use the Backup feature on Google Photos and it says Backup Complete. I go to Free Up Space, but it says I cannot delete files from my device until I do a Backup. What can I do?

Guys, this will only work of your using your gmail on a phone but if your gmaik is connected to your computer and phone you need to go the your laptop and do the same process because id you do it in your phone it won't work unless your gmail is only connected to your phone but if your gmail is connected to your laptop and phone then you must go to your laptop google photos and put on high quality in the settings after that everythin is all good, idk you guys will undertsand but whatever.

@@ecahariraya2986 you have to be on the same google account that you put your photos on. Then with that account you open Google Photos and all the pictures you put should all be there

Yes once you add them to Google Photos you can delete them from your device's storage

If u already gave access to backup then those will not get deleted when u free up space. But it can be removed from ur phone gallery. But not permanently
