Y aquí tenemos de nuevo a la Alba brasileira. Ya he comentado muchas veces mi asombro de que una catalana que nunca ha estado en Brasil y sin raíces con ese país (que se sepa) pueda cantar así temas brasileños. Lo del estilo y el ritmo bossero-sambero no sé de donde lo ha sacado, pero la casi perfecta pronunciación del portugués que se gastan Alba y otras chavalas de la banda parece ser que tiene una explicación: precisamente Marçal, apellidado Perramón Moreira. Aten cabos ... Son varias las versiones que tiene Alba de este tema, quizá esta sea la menos marchosa, posiblemente porque el arreglo estaba hecho más para el saxo que para la voz (es del disco "Joan Chamorro presenta Marçal Perramón"). Aun así Alba no para quieta ni un segundo, se le va solo el cuerpo. Marçal, como siempre, ha llegado a una madurez con el instrumento realmente portentosa. No se debe poner límites a su futuro. Ah, el solo de Traver, de lujo.

Originalmente, "Tristeza" tinha 18 versos. No entanto, por sugestão de Haroldo Lobo, o samba foi reduzido para apenas 8 versos, tornando-se sucesso absoluto. O privilégio do lançamento coube a Ary Cordovil, mas esse samba viria a se tornar um dos grandes clássicos do repertório de Jair Rodrigues que, com uma interpretação contagiante, tomou a música para si.

I was hoping this was going to be the first official selection for the "Alba Armengou sings Brazil" CD, but I guess we're not there yet. Anyhow, I enjoyed this piece a lot, both Alba's singing and the great solo by Marçal, who keeps getting better and better. The Neumann mic does a great job on the vocals, but that puppy is big, and blocks part of Alba's face. I would vote for lowering it a couple of inches (with maybe a slight tilt), and I bet the sound would be just as good.
