The New Morning lineup: Bob Dylan (vocal, guitar, harmonica & piano), Charlie E Daniels (bass), David Bromberg (guitar, dobro), Ron Cornelius (guitar), Al Kooper (organ), Russ Kunkel (drums), unidentified background vocalists.
I'm almost freaking out right now,I can't believe that's it's actual rare footage of the great BOB DYLAN circa 1970(or somewhat around that time)recording the song "the man in me"this is unbelievable.Tha man at work singing the man in me.Bless you Bob.
My Mum bought me the New Morning album as a peace offering after a falling out. I wouldn't say it's the best Dylan album but it's in the top one! Man In Me is super, great to see this footage and thank you for posting! X
This was one of the songs that was played at my daughter's wedding. Bob doesn't know how utterly charming he is as he sings la la la, as if he is totally oblivious of any trouble whatsoever. Priceless!
No way you could be in that room, in that moment and not feel that this was the take and it was going to be a classic. What a pocket. What a perfect moment. Awesome.
I love Bob Dylan so much. I just got to see him live with my girlfriend this last Saturday, I can’t believe after all these years of me listening to him I finally got to see him in real time. That will be the first and last time I’ll ever get to see him I bet.
Wow! Lost precious footage! And great to see the man that is Dylan expel some of his creative tension at the end of the recording and laying down the track, also the smile of confidence, "yes we got it"!
Oh wow ! You also realise just what a perfect take that was, everything right in one go,everyone feeling the right notes and Dylan completely there giving off... Some serious dude energy ! Dylan abides. Amazing, I didn't think any trace of this existed and how and where this resurfaced - I have no idea. Anyway, I've added it to my favourites.
The credits rolled on my last show of my first weekend of phish shows, and this song played as we took our chairs back to the booth and wondered out of the OG site of woodstock. Thinking of the big lebowski. It was surreal
All Dylan songs are one take. He may do a few takes, usually no more than three, as he says the feeling get lost after too many attempts. But 99% of Dylan’s songs are too to bottom. He also wasn’t a fan of editing takes together. He was old school and wanted a performance captured.
I love this! I also got a kick in seeing him doing his 'nod' to the band at the 2 minute mark that he has and still does to this day letting them know something is good or about to happen. I'm not a musician nor fully up on the meaning but I am sure that nod means quite a lot to them from an instruction standpoint.
He's cueing the band so they know a different section of the song is coming up. The first nod is for the bridge ("But oh ..."), the second is for the ending loop ("La la la ..."). You're right, any instruction from Dylan would be helpful as he's known for not giving much!
This is very obviously the finished album version dubbed over the film of another take. Watch Russ Kunkel; his fills don't match what you're hearing. Also, where is David Bromberg playing the acoustic guitar? We hear an acoustic guitar but we only see Ron Cornelius and his Gretsch. How about the fact that during the "la la la" section, Dylan isn't visibly singing but we hear the vocals persist. Lastly, the fade out. Not saying it's not cool as hell to see this, but it's not what a lot of you think it is.
This is my favorite of his voices.
Yes, he has got many voices... He is only one
This and on his version of Blue Moon.
Me too
in this song and in blood on the tracks his voice is just perfect
Yep I direct anyone who says he can't sing to this era , especially the song sign on a window
Merci for posting, when friends and idiots don't get Bob, I play it louder!
There you go!!!
This actually seems like the footage of the take they actually used. Have chills all over right now
@@wizsupercoach it's real, from a museum
The new Dylan museum in Oklahoma?
I think this take differs from that on the album. Love this video. Dylan stretching out after the song ended, with a look of satisfaction.
especially at 2:04, the way his voice pans looks exactly like what he's doing
Words can’t express how much I love this song. I think this might be the best song he’s ever made man
New Morning is a wonderful, though often overlooked, album.
... always has been overlooked... Dylan allegedly said his voice was affected by a cold or flu...
@RobHolanderMusic Yes criminally underrated.
A fav of mine.
Not my favorite, but I love to sing The Man In Me. It’s certainly a save after self portrait a couple months before
Totally agree! My favourite. Not a dud song on it.
Unbelievable! I feel like I'm hallucinating this. My favourite album come to life. Just wow!
It sure is great 👍
freakin' nailed it with that comment!
You think you seen a ghost
That is tremendous. It's great to get a real inside view of what these recording sessions were like. Thanks for sharing!
Yes!!!! Amazing
Fuck it Dude, let's go bowling
Unbelievable this exists. Love his "whew!" and smile at the end. What a take, completely live.
I love the way he smiles and exhales at the end.
As amazing as it is to visually see this - I’m still blown away by the song. Tremendous.
Dear God ~ thank you for Bob Dylan
Big Lebowski. Great tune. Only he could do this song. A cover would be a challenge, but time to go searching. That's the beauty of Dylan.
Google “Emma Swift” - she does a nice job with this song and several others.
@@AnEarfulTV thanks, I will take a look
And Joe Cocker, on his album Stingray@@TimHetherman
Johnny Hickman of Cracker does a great job with it in their live shows.
Surprised Jerry didn't do it to my knowledge, seems perfect

unknown bg vocals ?! that's a shame !
they beautiful ❤
Thanks for that! When I first saw this…was wondering who the session players were.
Hilda Harris, Albertine Robinson, Maeretha Stewart** -- Background Vocals
It sounded like the other vocalists were in the same room
Dang I didn't know Kunkel was in this! That's killer
This video is like witnessing a real miracle.

This song really ties the room together
This made me cry. Beautiful.
Outstanding to have video from this less-represented period- love that ending shot too.

New Morning is up there with the best Dylan albums.
Incredible footage

Tremendous indeed....absolutely fabulour piece of singing and that smile told us he enjoyed it too. Thanks for sharing.
Love when that piano pounds in on Big Lebowski. Saw several times in theater. Such a cool experience.
A real historical treasure ❤❤!!
Wow, I wonder how many of these clip exists and are still to be recovered. Thanks for sharing it ❤
Freaking amazing! Just when I thought I’d seen everything Dylan. What an awesome song and and peek inside the studio. Thank you Numbers!

One of a kind artist ❤❤❤
Thank god somebody had the sense to film this.
I love Bob Dylan so much. I just got to see him live with my girlfriend this last Saturday, I can’t believe after all these years of me listening to him I finally got to see him in real time. That will be the first and last time I’ll ever get to see him I bet.
I saw him live in Pennsylvania too. Great show. Willie was great too.
I can’t believe after all these years you didn’t know bob even better than that…sweet story
Wow! Lost precious footage! And great to see the man that is Dylan expel some of his creative tension at the end of the recording and laying down the track, also the smile of confidence, "yes we got it"!
Just incredible. Watch the ending of the movie ‘The Mauritanian’, it will leave you in tears. A magnificent song.
Fantastico, grazie per aver condiviso questo video, un' emozione unica!!
This is fantastic
È per questo che resterai nella storia grande Bob Dilan 👏👏♥️
Did 54 years go by that fast? When I hear this I can almost smell the rooms I was in at the time. Magic!
The Master at work.
I call him the master too 🙏
This footage is absolutely incredible.
Adore Bobby! Thanks for posting this!
Just another day, another masterpiece.
Thanks to Sara Dylan also for the inspiration.❤
Thank you so much for this gem! One of my favorites.
Hey dudes!…this bob virtuoso performance tied the album (New Morning) AND the movie (The Big Lebowski) together
this is exactly how i imagined he looked while recording this
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤ new morning one of my favourite albums of Bobby
What a Wonderful feeling to see and hear this marvellous song.
Many thanks man🎉
What a gem!
Wow, just wow… like finding a lost Shakespeare manuscript……or a missing Picasso….

It's like my dream while awake. Never thought I'd actually see the studio footage of this great song. Thank you HN
A GREAT FIND ! Love to know if there is more of this in theVaults !! THANKS !
LOVE
This is the best Dylan footage Ive ever seen . Thanks so much
This perfectly conveys visually the laid-back vibe of this song and, indeed, of the entire New Morning sessions. A gem!
This is awesome!!!
Charlie Daniels played bass on this song. You can see him around 2:50
Thanks ! This is excellent ! Love from far east !
Love this. Fantastic post, thank you.
I keep playing this.
Lost footage - and here it is? 😂
Fantastic. Always love that song!!
Magnificent - makes ya wonder what other gems are out there.
Had no idea footage like this existed! Dylan is a prize that keeps going on forever. What a reward for being a fan. What will we find next?
I just discovered his Theme Time Radio Hour here on TH-cam, what a gift!
So awesome to see this!
So glad to have found this rare footage of Dylan's New Morning sessions
Não canso de ouvir.

Awesome happy times for him
This is everything
And Dylan was still only 29 when recording this, already a big star.
This is one take! Hollyyyyyy

@@mumbles215 The way it should be for this type of music.
Not even remotely true, but it's probably fun to sound informed.
Great vocals ✌️☮️
Turned out way better than expected
I guess Ive not seen this live ... it's amazing .again ... So unusual .. This whole voice performance song everything is ..really sonething
As usual, what a great band.
GREAT! FIND MORE LIKE THIS!!!

I dunno I think he's just getting deep into the beat and taking a breath to get ready to LA LA LA LA LA
He's cueing the band so they know a different section of the song is coming up. The first nod is for the bridge ("But oh ..."), the second is for the ending loop ("La la la ..."). You're right, any instruction from Dylan would be helpful as he's known for not giving much!
The cheeky smile at the end where he just knows that was the take
Fantastic clip!
and ppl say, "his singing lacks", not for me...txs for sharing
