I just want to get this out there, that according to the stories involving wendigos. wendigos can control any creature with animal grade intelligence every animal and can change the weather around them for example from a sunny day to a thunderstorm within moments, and when it goes almost famous for their speed strength and stealth that's what a wendigo can do. Also I just had the idea that the wendigo listener will end up losing their amulet in the middle of combat and go berserk.
I can't help but wonder how much of their life as a human Wendy remembers.
Wendigo’s are such underrated creatures so I adore this particular series 🖤

Theirs one that your turned into one by it biting you/killing you
Another by eating it's dead flesh if you kill it
And a third where your just cursed to be one

Maybe spirit metal can harm wraiths, metal forged using spirit magic, like the Excalibur, many believe the king's sword is a holy weapon due to this property, but its only spirit metal, metal forged using the same kind of magic wraiths and spirits have, the knowledge of this craftsmanship is very rare and few are able to learned it.

aghhh i love this series! i can never tell if these two are just good friends or if there’s something deeper than that 🤔 either way, the chemistry is, pun absolutely intentional, supernatural 🫶
seriously though i’ve listened to this series so many times over, and i just adore Tess and the voice you used for her, it feels so comfy even with the underlying horror aspect of these two‘s…everything!

I’m a wendigo⁉️ lesgoooo
He’d been far from thrilled over the idea of bookwork, especially after the wraith pursuit. Even weeks later, he found absolutely nothing worthwhile in running like that. Yes, Tess said these things weren’t to be trifle with, however there was a problem: he’d no reason to believe that. Aside from him, she’d never really faced anything that could be called an apex predator. Vampires weren’t at the top of the food chain so her being afraid wasn’t a huge surprise.
A vampire, for all its loveliness, was little more than a human leech. At least the Aboriginal Yara-Mha-Yha-Who could be called an ambush predator given it actually waited for its prey and could handle not drinking blood. Hell, the damn thing used blood to reproduce, not to sustain itself. Vampires had agility and longevity on their side, however they were parasitic in nature, making the idea of viral vampirism so appealing in human pop culture.
Nature didn’t pick favorites, despite the inclination that it did. Even across worlds, there were chinks in armour. Wendigos were savage, manipulation of them wasn’t hard, despite their raw might and endurance. Wicca were magically inclined humans, meaning they had to compensate for their natural shortcomings to survive. Vampires were susceptible to sunlight and, while definitely resilient, weren’t such hot shit at the end of the day. Shifters were weak in human form yet incredibly specialized in Bestial form, human intellect or no.
Wraiths weren’t any different, they just had to find their shortcoming. Hence their presence here. A quick ask at the desk for where to learn about the history of that building from earlier, as well as details on Hellion, had gotten him strange looks-hence why it looked like they’d never seen a Wendigo before. They’d never seen someone interested in Hellion and city history at once, who was a Wendigo.
There’d been no need for threats yet there definitely was a case to be made over how annoying the looks were becoming. Dingetjie could feel their eyes on his back, driving him to feel oh so very on edge. Despite Tess’s efforts to calm him down was he all sorts of annoyed.
Whatever Ghostie was keeping inside, it was important. They needed clues to keep Ghostie safe, though, and Wraiths weren’t something he could brute force his way into beating. He could outsmart hybrids. He could rip and tear his way through them. Wraiths were different.
“…” Tess’s words made him fall silent, just trying to understand what in the hell she was trying to tell him. Yes, a void happened to be where Wraiths came from-cool. That explained why they wanted to invade. They could possess and supercharge a body-great. “…What if we use magic to trap them?” He asked curiously.
Was he inspired by Pokémon? Maybe. It was probably one of the best games he’d ever encountered in his long life, even if it was incredibly weird. If they could contain Wraiths with amulets like his controlled his hunger, they could have literal Haunters on their side! Just from a paper-view was that an awesome idea. Honestly, he much preferred Cubone and Marowak, but if this was to be his real-world Pokemon Tower…he’d accept a bunch of Haunters. Given the surplus of appliance stores in this city, he could get Linking Cords and evolve the Haunters into a bunch of Gengar…
Was his old man brain confusing video game logic with the real world? Absolutely. Would he care? No. Did he want this to work? Very much so! The idea of a Gengar army was super fucking cool! Too bad that wouldn’t work!! At least the idea of magic to contain them would be enough of a jumping-off point.
Much as the Pen might’ve preferred the other forms of magic be more thoroughly researched and respected, there was the fact that Wicca had its limits. African magics were well within the general wheelhouse of Wicca too! If the Pen actually tried its hands with what scared it, then there’d be fewer accidents, instead of this wannabe Men in Black routine. Ugh, he was showing his bias in this line or thinking, and yet that same bias wasn’t wrong.
In mythology, Mwindo had been taken apart and reforged into someone stronger than a man could possibly be! If someone old was reforged into looking strong yet actually a total weakling, riddled with frailties, then bound with a special amulet when possessed by a Wraith…It would solve several problems! So many old people in the world were assholes who were slowly becoming vegetables, why not use them? Wouldn’t be the worst thing people have done in history.
Hell, it could help reach the Wraiths. An invasive species of intelligent creatures could be reasoned with. If there was no helping them, just binding them to amulets would be enough to handle them. Hell, using old white people as a-Crap…he was being racist. He’d never shaken his hate of the white men, it seems. And here he’d thought that part of himself dead.
