Based on what I can tell in the video I believe this is the parts and Cut list. 5 - 2"x4"x8' 8 - 1/2" - 4" Bolts & Nuts 2 - 1/2"x 4" Eye Bolts and Nuts 3" Wood Screws - Several for joining wood. Cut List: 2 - 2"x4" x 5'6" 2 - 2"x4" x 5' 2 1/2" 2 - 2"x4" x 2' 6" - BASE 2 - 2"x4" x 2' 1/4" - BASE Brace with ends cut at 45 degree angle 1 - 2"x4" x 8' - TOP 2 - 2"x4" x 2' 4" - TOP Brace with ends cut at 45 degree angle
Just bulit this today. Three things - First: AWESOME idea. Love it. Was looking for a "cheap" way to be able to use my hammock without trees in my back yard, and now I am good to go. Thank you! Second: I used a 10' center pole instead of 8'. I cut off about a foot so the center pole ended up being 9' which works with my ENO hammock. Not sure 8' would have worked for the way I like it to hang. Third: Use a longer bottom base piece. Mine almost fell over when I first got in since I only used 2.5' for those. Should have used a piece 3.5' which would have been a bit more stable...but 2.5 works as long as you are aware of it when you get it the hammock.
why did you not brace from the underside of the top beam to the inside of the right or left tall beams. and make a triangle there . then you would be bracing the top against the left or right beam and that would make it stronger would it not. Your way you just attached it to them but you are not doing a brace? Great video though thanks for sharing great idea. The same idea for the bottom brace as well? Just wondered.
Hey man great video. Looks good design. And the drone views are breath taking. But how can you show us all that and build something so beautiful and not show us if it's durable or not. Yeah right. If you sit in it, I'll build it.
Just what I was looking for! Thanks. Also, you definitely live in Houston area, right? Lol I m a native and can always tell by the houses, sky and trees or lack of in newer subdivisions.
I actually don't remember what size my hammock was. And I moved across the country so I didn't bring the stands with me, so I can't test it out again. Sorry!
Just found some info on : secure.img1-fg.wfcdn.com/docresources/7794/21/212024.pdf So... I think that with a 15 foot hammock, you need at least 15 X 0,66667 = 10 foot minimum between the two hooks ! Distance for hammocks without spreader bars: the hanging distance is much more flexible. Hammocks without spreader bars will also have an overall length, determined by the hanging point to hanging point distance of the hammock. However, the minimum hanging distance for hammocks without spreader bars will be less than the overall length of the hammock because hammocks without spreader bars are designed to hang with a "dip" in them, and will not be taut when no one is lying in the hammock. In general, the minimum hanging distance for hammocks without spreader bars is two thirds of the overall length of the hammock. Therefore if your hammock is 180 inches / 457cm from hanging point to hanging point, the minimum hanging distance is going to be 120 inches / 305cm. For the maximum hanging distance, you would simply add two feet to the minimum hanging distance. These distances are only recommendations, and can be adjusted to fit your particular circumstances. Hammocks without spreader bars are flexible in how they can be hung in this way: the closer together you place the hanging points, the higher off of the ground you must go, while the farther apart you place the hanging points, the closer to the ground you can hang the hammock.
Hi. I want a summer project with my son, and I think we could make this. Could you maybe put in the description the sizes of wood for each cut and supplies needed. I am not handy at all. And to have things spelled out would be so helpful.
Just found some info on : secure.img1-fg.wfcdn.com/docresources/7794/21/212024.pdf so yes... 8 foots seems to be ok for a 12' hammock. But... I think I will go for 10 foots wide !!!!!!!! Pretty cool little video cheap and easy but effective your neighborhood has awkward sidewalk configurations what's with that little alley next to your yard
I don't think so, unless you do some more engineering. The force pushing on that center beam is pretty high. You would have to use supports in another way.
Made one of these, solid design and easy to build. I’m 6 ft tall so used a 10’ 2 x 4 for the top rail and it’s perfect, thanks for the video
Do you still use it? I'm the same height and wondering how far down the hammock is / how comfortable it is
Based on what I can tell in the video I believe this is the parts and Cut list.
5 - 2"x4"x8'
8 - 1/2" - 4" Bolts & Nuts
2 - 1/2"x 4" Eye Bolts and Nuts
3" Wood Screws - Several for joining wood.
Cut List:
2 - 2"x4" x 5'6"
2 - 2"x4" x 5' 2 1/2"
2 - 2"x4" x 2' 6" - BASE
2 - 2"x4" x 2' 1/4" - BASE Brace with ends cut at 45 degree angle
1 - 2"x4" x 8' - TOP
2 - 2"x4" x 2' 4" - TOP Brace with ends cut at 45 degree angle
don't forget the screws that are 3 inches long
@@tjdelpriore4413 Thanks I added those to the parts list.
Love the design, brother. I made one for my game room. Looks great indoors too.
First time watcher....you did great
This is amazing. Gonna make two of them. Thanks
I made one just like and it works great. I followed step by step. thanks

How long is you hammock (overall lenght from both attachment loop) mine is near 12 foot. Maybe I should you use 10' center pole and not cut it ;)
Job done... I use a 10' center pole. Everything ok ! :)

"Great video" yet you tell him he did it wrong and them told him how to do it correctly. Nice
Any chance you have a video of you sitting in it showing it being tested? Also any chance you could list all the lengths of the 2x4s?

Can't beat the price! Nice job.
Very nice. Maybe one day if Im feeling ambitious I'll try it out. 😀
Just what I was looking for! Thanks. Also, you definitely live in Houston area, right? Lol I m a native and can always tell by the houses, sky and trees or lack of in newer subdivisions.
This was actually filmed in OKC!
I know is not a swing, but I was just wondering, your project looks nice!
How long end to end did you make it ? Im suspecting you used an 8 foot 2 x4 across the top? Thx
Yes, mine was 8 feet long.
The eye bolt holding the hammock goes between the two pieces of wood? How has this held up over time ?
Was thinking the same... think I will use 4x4’s for the two pieces...
I just build it... with 4X4 because I tought the same...
Thanks for sharing! Question: For what size of hammock is this? I have a 15 so I want to make sure it’s long enough.
I actually don't remember what size my hammock was. And I moved across the country so I didn't bring the stands with me, so I can't test it out again. Sorry!

Just finished mine thanks

So I did 10ft long and 5ft 6 inches tall. Just make sure you get a piece that is 10 ft. Then you'll need another 40 ft of 2x4 to finish the rest.
How can I get in Maryland
notice how here never got into the hammock! lol
nice work
Main side piece 😂 stand up guy
How long is your hammock that you have that those stands are built for? I have a 12' hammock and those don't look no where near long enough...
Yeah, the ones I used were only 8 ft long, that definitely would not work for a 12 ft.
Just found some info on : secure.img1-fg.wfcdn.com/docresources/7794/21/212024.pdf

Haha that's a water way for when it floods
How much wait will it hold?
Not sure, It held me at about 230lbs. But never tested with more.
Love it
You reckon you can make two strong standing poles without the middle bit?
I don't think so, unless you do some more engineering. The force pushing on that center beam is pretty high. You would have to use supports in another way.
Whereabouts do you live? Looks just like where we are (Sarnia, ON)
I wanted to see someone get in and out of it.
Do you have any issues with angle bracket when swinging?
3olemrac I have not, but if you get swinging really high, it might tip over...
No, but I don't really swing a whole lot, only when I'm using the hammock with tress would I swing. A little swing is totally fine.
nice
How much weight could this hold if you were to estimate?
I wouldn't even know what to guess, I weighed about 220 at the time and it was fine with me in there even swinging a little.
Those houses are huge!
Where is it
Weight Limit? Seems like it would either hold a lot or barely any no in-between with this build. lol
😎
MSState Grad?
Thumbs up from me.?
It doesn't look long enough...
nice design, but under biden it's a $500 hammock stand
There are even more ways to hang a hammock:

you live in Alabama, don't you? characteristic red staining around the base of your house.
What state is this
Victor Gonzales Oklahoma.
not the best design ever...
Um. Aaaah. Ummm. Video is shiitt. I didn't make it to 5 minutes. Ummm. Aaah. Ummm.
