    Before watching the video: this problem is extended to all jets from 8.3 and above. Wt needs clearly, isolated tiers of game for jets depending on their generation first of all, with br adjustments coming later. In no way a harrier should face a mig17, just to make an example.

    • @majo3488
      @majo3488 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      No, just look at the Harrier 2 with 9Ls that faced A-4 Skyhawks at the Falklands.
      That happend and could happen.
      And era doesn't mean performance.

      @@majo3488 You have no idea about aviation. The reason the Harrier had those missiles is because there was no other naval aircraft for air defense that was a pure interceptor at the time, so the Sea Harrier was used for air-to-air, but it was an exception. HMS Ark Royal had F4 Phantom but was decommissioned in 1979 so she did not participate in the war.

    I bought my way into top tier years ago when I got the F11 to avoid the seal clubbers. I did poorly in jets, but I was much better in jets than in props. The issue is that the majority of the player base plays top tier, so the people playing low tier are those trying to grind up or those who have settled on a prop plane and have no desire to continue on. Those good prop players served as major gatekeepers that greatly slow progress for new players.
    What sucks most about this game is that building the skill and experience to actually beat those prop players doesn't really help you in the long run. Jets play so differently that you are pretty much playing a different game. The most efficient way to progress is to just buy a top tier tank or plan and learn how to play that. You'll do terrible at first, but you will actually learn the skills relevant to top tier, which is what you're probably shooting for anyways. You'll get the hang of it after a few weeks or months and really start to have fun.

    Part of the problem is that even at BR 1 or 2, it's filled with level 100 players. I see 6-10 100s even at low tier. It's almost impossible to learn when you just die and not even know where it's from.

    • @dierare
      @dierare 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      that is precisely because the newer players don't play BR 1 and 2 anymore. if this trend of buying yourself up didn't start in the first place, bottom tier would be mostly new players and few veterans.
      Also since even level 100 players are limited by the tanks' capabilities in BR 1-2, you have a better chance at knowing what mistake you made than at BR 9.0-9.7, where you can get sniped from across the map very accurately within seconds. deviation and slow shell velocity make that very unlikely in low tier, if you didn't sit in the open for a prolonged time.

    I grinded up to 9.0 Japan with some premium along the way and I still have some difficulties with jet planes. The reason why it is especially hard for new players is that plane basic controls are horrendous and everyone needs to keybind and adapt what's better for them. That processes take hundreds of hours of adaptation. However, I do think Gaijin could have done a better job on the keybind controls. I do think that a game that needs manual keybind to be playable is simply poorly designed.

  • @cavalryscout9519
    @cavalryscout9519 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've been noticing this a lot lately. My go-to, relaxation plane is the F-8E, which should be facing brutal matchmaking and is a very difficult plane to fly (without breaking it). I face tons of A-10 earlies, F-5Cs, A-5Cs, etc. I'm not great, but I'm great in that plane (if you ignore how often I break my own wings), and it's really just because I understand how things work. I never got an Ace til I got into top tier, because suddenly so many people just don't understand the strengths and weaknesses.
    I've also been playing rank 2 Air RB a lot lately, and that's actually way more competitive. Part of that is that there as some really wide gaps in capability (particularly climb rate) which aren't very well reflected in the BRs, so there are a lot of good seal clubbing planes in that tier. I've been flying the P-40C down there, which I consider a good plane, but it doesn't have any ridiculous advantages, and it can be a tough BR bracket because there are a lot of people flying their favorite planes down there, and they've been flying the same plane for years now. People in tier 2 actually know their manual engine controls, their perfect climb speeds, optimum altitude's etc. I mean, I know that my P-40C can match or exceed the maneuverability of a Bf 109 at 12,000 feet and 250 mph IAS, but there are a lot of players who know they can choke my engine out at 15,000 feet, or that I'll lose my agility advantage below 9,000. Many players in tier 2 know exactly which parts to aim for, and they can aim confidently with stealth rounds.
    Ironically, my BR 2.3 experience is a lot more competitive, because there are so many more really veteran players down there.

It took me about 150 games(about what you said) in the x-m1 to really get a feel for top tier but in my experience it was worth the struggle because I have a blast in the 9.0-11.0 br range now that I really know what I’m doing. The whole "high level players shouldn't play low tier" thing is BS. For me personally the game stops being fun when you get to the tiers where thermals and laser range finders become common, so why would I waste my time playing in those tiers when I could actually enjoy myself playing lower to mid tiers.
    Also there's the fact that you might be grinding out a new tree or vehicle you haven't spaded. Or in my case often my ground tree is much higher than my air tree because I only fly out in GRB, and it's pointless taking out a 2.7 fighter into a 5.7 match where you will get shredded. So You make a 2.7 ground line up so that your aircraft is actually competitive while you spade it.

    This is 100% a very real problem. Far too often am I in a match where either I can't kill anything or I am in a 1v4 within 4 minutes of match start because one team had experienced players and one team had inexperienced players.
    Inexperienced players rarely have a solid grasp on any of the following items (Applying to Air-RB).
    -Energy management
    -How to use altitude
    -Weapons employment
    -Countermeasures employment
    -Knowledge of radar systems
    -Defensive flying
    -Positioning
    -Baiting & Teamplay
    -Fuel management
    -Ammo conservation & gunnery
    -Knowledge of your opponents and ally's aircraft & systems
    Every one of the items listed above plays an important part in someone's success as a pilot. Many think that TT Jets is purely RNG, yet make many more mistakes than those who they are facing. But they don't know they're making those mistakes. So players become angry and protest to gaijin to "fix" the game. Unfortunately, since this group of people tend to be the most vocal, those "fixes" end up being implemented, at the cost of requisite skill. It is in this sense the duty of the experienced players to inform and teach the inexperienced players. If nothing is taught, nothing good will come...

    It is much easier to learn to play top tier that it is to grind it, Top tier tank RB has more in common with 1 BR AB than with 7.3BR RB, (because Lasers, Thermal, Darts and speed), the biggest thing they are missing is map knowledge, but the spots also change from BR to BR.
    I have seen people in all kinds of planes and tanks do stupid thing, like people in F-4J not launching any flares, when they had full load of them, but I have also seen people who were "just" level 20 who had only top tier matches (thanks to premium aircraft), and they were doing well,
    while I agree that it can lead to people quiting the game for good, I do thing it is necessary evil, because not everyone is interested in props (at least I was not, grinding through that was only pain for me) and if they buy jet and they have will to learn, they will be good top tier player long before anyone who will be grinding through the tree. Also some people quit because of the grind and this can help againts that.

      To be fair, air grind is alot easier than ground grind. just surviving long enough in air battles and your team winning while you farm some ground targets can get you some good XP, while in ground battles, if you do badly and don't cap, you won't get much, even in a win. especially since you don't have NPC targets to get a few xp and SL from. and getting a cheap premium at rank 3 or 4 can speed up the grind between late props and early jets alot without out-buying your skill level. while that's also true for ground, for good progress you really need more than one tank, with lineups the grind is definitely faster. but there often aren't several premiums at the same BR level for ground, so a single prem doesn't accelerate the grind as much, since your other tanks will earn regularly.

    @jojomaster7675 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Honestly, I'd disagree about ground.
    Cause, while I'm not exactly a noob, I'm not a great player either, only having up to 5.7 br researched in ground vehicles. Yet after getting the BMP-2M (with squadron points, not GE), even with an incredibly scuffed lineup, I manage to do ok. Especially when squadded up with friends. Honestly, I'd say that top tier ground takes less skill than mid tier.

    As a player, new to the game for a second time( Downloaded it, got frustrated, deleted it),I can say without a doubt, the lower tiers are also full of seal clubbers. I mean this game has a brutal enough learning curve without having to get past the gatekeepers who delight in making "noobs" suffer like they did. The worst is the spawn campers since they dont even allow a chance at getting good since you are hosed upon entering the game. I am gonna give it another week or two but I honestly think the clubbers are going to get the better of me and once again it will be regulated to the dust bin, which is a shame since the game itself is so much more than WoT.

    So heres a thought. Yes people can tell who is newer or not by the planes they use but the big issue for me is that you can check other players profiles mid game. Kinda lame the good players can look and go "oh look that guy is new with that plane or he doesnt have a good winrate so im going to run him down first". It is a problem. But I think a missed part is that a lot of folks just have no interest in WW2 props. There have been lots of games with a playstyle very close to war thunder with props. Some people just want to fly jets/drive MBTs. The amount of grind needed means those players can either burn out on the game from playing stuff they don't like.. or pay and burn out from the seal clubbing.

I was shocked at how bad many newb a-10 players were, but it made the matches funny because I knew how to play top tier matches and most people didnt expect the a-10 early to not be a seal. @@waavycookie7243 by all means buy the 2PL Mr. Cookie, its a great tank, in fact to get familiar with it play in PVE Assault mode, but here is where everyone who buys a premium vehicle or high tier vehicle with out a BR appropriate line up make the mistake, you don't play high tier vehicles like low tier vehicles, unlike low tier vehicles who have crappy low caliber or who use armor piercing ballistic cap rounds, top tier vehicles utilize APFSDS(Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) which have a shorter flight time so longer range and more accurate shots are possible. At low tiers you can sit out in the open and fire at someone and the game will be pretty forgiving b/c of the ballistic characteristics of shell deviation currently in game, that shell deviation disappears at high tier b/c of the larger caliber guns and APFSDS characteristics, so you cannot sit in the open as much at high tier and must seek cover either behind a hill, rock, or building while peek out momentarily to fire and retreat to cover. Now you shouldn't abandon the capture points however, a typical playstyle for smart experienced team starts as a few people 3-4 attack the capture points, while everyone else gets into a position to stop the enemy advance or flanks the enemy trying to come out of their spawn effectively cutting the flow of reinforcements off. By doing this you are not only taking people out of the game but also diverting attention from the capture points which can allow your team to capture them and move up to support your flank from the front.

      @@IceMarsoc77 the sitting in the open stuff is more that in top tier, almost everyone has thermals to spot you immediately and everyone has laser rangefinders for accurate shots at any distance. especially if you just sit around. at low tier rangefinding takes a while, many people don't even do it and guess the distance, which might result in a miss that warns you of being targeted if it drops to the ground near you.

    I’ve been playing since February 17 of 2020. The first premium tank I bought was the XM1 GM, and this was after I got to rank 4 america. People called me stupid for buying it, yet I never regretted it. The purchase of a tank like that helped me understand what I would be seeing in war thunder. It helped me get used to the game and understand it’s mechanics. Around Christmas of 2020, I got my first top tier tank which was the M1A2. From then I just kept playing and advancing my knowledge and skills of this game that I seemingly fell in love with. I saw everything added, I played alongside these new vehicles premium and squadrons, I fought them and I noticed they are not so bad. In my eyes, squadron vehicles server their purpose. They give free to play players a chance to earn something that they worked for. Does it take time? Yes, is it worth it, well, yeah. I feel like premium and squadron vehicles will help new players learn how to play this game, and then too will be in the position as all of us. They will become smart and learn the game, they will understand what this game has to offer. I never saw a real issue with these premium vehicles. And on the bright side, people like me, these vehicles tend to bolster our lineups adding that extra vehicle that will potentially save a battle and earn us more XP and points. That’s my opinion however, but I understand the frustration of it.

Older tanks have low magnification and it’s hard to see enemies hiding or using bushes (in RB/SB modes). Whereas with top tier tanks you have thermals and crazy zoom levels (not to mention instant laser rangefinders that automatically adjust elevation and controllable ATGMs) and if you play decently smart (don’t run around with your a$$ hanging out) you can have some good games and not have grinded your way to that BR.

      If u can get at least 2 top tier vhiecle in one lineup than u have enough playtime/match to learn the maps and you don't be a huge drawback for your team . Top on that there are some mid tier TT and prem tanks which are completly capabel of killing top tiers from the side. The amount of information that can be carried from bottom-mid tier to top tier is almost negligible. It plays so differently from ww2 to modern planes that I find it hard to use effective tactics that can be used in both tiers. Tanks is way different but only do to the map knowledge. Knowing a ww2 tanks weak spot is not going to help you in top tier. The main difference in both is speed. Higher br is faster in every way. It might be harder and more difficult to learn at a higher speed but if you want to play the game for modern vehicles the only thing you are is a noob learning a game. Just like someone who grinded the whole tree and is now getting destroyed their few first battles of modern.

    After watching this video, I have to admitt Im looking forward to high tier fights now.
    I recently picked up the game again after a 4 year hiatus (you can thank the upcomming Tomcat update for that) and am currently grinding my way up the US techtree, currently derping around at Rank IV in my P-51D-5. Let me tell you, its a pain, nearly everyone and their mother can outfly, outrun or outgun me but Im slowly progressing to where I can actually keep a positive income balance.
    So yeah, being able to make some cheap kills in higher tiers does sound like it could make my life a little easier honestly.
    Im actually going to join your discord in hopes of finding someone to look over my gameplay and give me some pointers on where I could improve. I play mostly Air RB these days.

      Honestly, sticking with the p47d28 is way better for grinding, don’t get into 6.0 because it’s F2G1 vs premium German bomber, best early jet is the f84, get the f86A5 and learn how to roll, than forget all that when you get WEP capable jets, than hope you get 1 kill with the f86F2 in a 10.0 match, honestly it’s not worth it, and with repair costs piling up from each failed attempt to get better and have a functional aircraft is just mind numbing, if you really want top tier experience buy one of the following aircraft: F5C, MIG 21 pfm and F4F early, preferably the F5C because you won’t need to stock grind

    I will say I agree with this, but the only issue with your argument is win rate. Win rate is not equivalent to skill anymore simply BECAUSE of the people buying into top tier, or teams are just incompetent. Yes though, the people that buy into top tier, have no line ups, and no time in ruin it.

    I have played near-exclusively the US Air tree since 1.67, when I started playing.
    I have over 3000 battles in the F-4E. When the F-4F Early hit, it was a field day. No awareness or anything came from them. These are the kinds of players you could reliably hit with an AIM-7E from 15km.

    Ive been playing WT since 2012, when tanks were closed beta, and its always been my "once-twice a week" game, full Free-to-Play. Now that i have some friends who play on high BR's, im investing more and more time. Ive reached my USSR up to 6.3 and Germans up to 5.7, its been hella slow. And i STILL feel like im not skilled enough to buy something higher than 7.0 since it starts getting different in there. AND IM NOT TALKING ABOUT PLANES, cause ive been on Arcade for almost 10 years, and the very first match in RB i did what? Ripped my wings off!
    So yes, thank you for your content, ive learned a lot. Considering just bying premuim on sales and working my way up top. As one said, "There are no shortcuts for becoming a Pirate King" >;D

    It was the same for me with the F5c, when I first bought it the plane was really bad for me, I just didn’t have the skill to use it, but now that I have more experience in the game I get at least 3 kills per match, getting first place in Air RB, it is a insane vehicle when it comes to its turn rate and a money printing machine, you can destroy only one base and you’ll already have profit (with no premium acc)

    So, in War Thunder you do not really grind tanks, YOU GRIND CREWS. So many of the players in high tier will have max level crews. This means they get faster reloads, better maneuvering, better survivability, better detection (This means they see you first so your dead), better gun accuracy. So, if you buy a high tier to grind out low tier, you are going to learn what PAIN is all about. Also, low tier is very forgiving when you ride gets exploded you can still earn some crowns. High tier vehicles lose big coin if you do not do well. SO DO NOT DO IT.

Or playing a different game, for that matter. Just feels so weird to me.

    Unfortunately for console players, there are very limited buttons to use for mechanization, shooting different weapons, and fully controlling aircraft axes (is that the plural of axis? I honestly have no idea). Also, I am experiencing a stupid glitch when I change my controls. When I try to edit a control, the snail looks me in the eyes and says fk you. some days ago I decided to casually play J-7E for a while. To my surprise, US teams were getting absolutely wrecked, and it took me about 13 matches to die once. There’s something about Lv30s playing tomcat, like what the hell is with that. I’m not even a good player and was getting 2-3 kills per match, granted the PL-5Bs are amazing missiles, but the fact that nobody was paying attention to me, or even remotely anyone decided to launch a missile at me was incredibly ridiculous.

    two years later it is the complete opposite. I flew 20 matches at br 4.3 in air rb props and EVERY GAME there was at least two lvl 100s and i lost 12 matches. Those twelve losses were because these lvl 100s were definitely communicating each other via discord or voice chat and those 12 lossses had at least 3 lvl 100s in each of those matches. Almost every game the enemy team had 16 people and 8 were above lvl 40 and at least 4 were under lvl 20 and always there was about 4 lvl 90+ players.
    these people were probably playing at this br for:
    a. grinding the israel tech tree
    b. mercilessly killing low level players
    c. low tier connoisseurs
    only 1 match had anyone with an israeli plane and most lvl 100s had grinded out both air and ground tech trees.
    these guys should not be going against people who are inexperienced expecting to be matched with an enemy team who is close in skill/in game level.

    trying to get into war thunder was horrendous in my case, it was quite the hastle to understand the game and how it worked. After enduring the torture and constantantly being seal clubbed. I just stopped. I knew from the start I won't be able to reach the modern vechs without putting many hours. This was in 2018 when it was easier to grind. But since the new econ changes, I feel bad for the newer people.

  • @mikebauer6917
    @mikebauer6917 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s a hard position for people like me who have zero interest in modern vehicles and don’t want to seal club.
    So yeah, I have over 1000 spawns each in the M4X, T-34X and the PzX, which means that I rarely have to use the gunner view to connect even a long shoot with those. That, coupled with map knowledge etc., does put newer players at a disadvantage.
    However, it’s not as if I have no counters as there are plenty of other experienced players at most BRs and plenty of opportunities for getting killed anyway. Frankly, I wouldn’t still play if I was in god mode.
    Plus, I do other things to reduce the seal clubbing; I never spawn camp in any form, I take out SPAA purely for AA and I repair, rescue and otherwise assist teammates whenever I can. Actually, this keeps things fun for me I don’t need to be #1 on the team, or on a winning team, to have a fun game. Plus, I’m not grinding anything anymore so I don’t need SL really.
    Basically, I see low BR seal clubbing is a choice. And even when someone chooses to seal club, you can take some of their mojo by watching them in replay and learning from them. I still do this.
    As for newbies playing high tier? If it isn’t obvious to them why this makes them a low cal source of SL I doubt they have the grit to grind to top tier anyway (not really a lost player).

    I can happily say I grinded USA for my first nation to top tier with only a premium account it took me many years after playin on and off but I got there, but it was the worst time of my life when I statrted playing for longer periods time super grinding... but I learned a lot, now I have USSR,GER,ISRAEL, and France at top tier. France is the most fun and stomps with their crazy reload speeds. But for people like me it is highly frustrating to get scrubs who have no idea what's going on and it ruins my game due to lack of help and to lack of teammate priorities and situational awareness.
    top tier you need to be fast and reactive as everyone has thermals and can see you even just the slightest

    The community likes to blame the lack of knowledge of people buying top tier which you have actually seen evidence of but I've been fighting trying to grind my way through my first tank tree and have been absolutely slowed to a crawl at BR 7 with spawn camping and spawn camping CAS. I review my replays to see how people play and time and time again I see players who seem lost in a tank jumping into a plane and cleaning up. I have video of one person who angered a whole bunch of enemy with spawn camping and when we came for him he jumped into a bomber and bombed his own tank (and bailed out of the plane before the bombs hit) so he could score the kills of everyone around his now dead tank. A lot are doing things like this which requires limited knowledge of the maps or the tanks. Fun fact: I have video from a BR 1.0 match I fought (out of frustration with all the spawn camping CAS in BR 7) where there were 6 planes over my head just outside the spawn and I had no tanks in my lineup that could even shoot up. A level 100 got 15 kills in that match. You yourself celebrated using CAS to kill tanks, "for Free RP and SL" in your A-6E video. This is another cause of upper tier tank players who can't play tanks and makes perfect sense.

    I bought my way into the russian tree with the turms. I did not do good the first 50 matches or so because i wasn't addapted to this BR. The problem i think is that the players are just one death leavers or teammates who just want to get a kill and don't really play the objective. I have now 800 games with my turms and my win rate is 30% with a 0.9 KD or so because you get clapped from the site or fueltank explode because there are no teammate who gives cover. The biggest problem is that everyone can purchase the premiums. A better way would be that you need a rank 4 tank to actually buy a rank 6 premium. But this is only one problem of 1000 with WT

    The reason this kinda shit happens, its because gaijins fucking ads and promo vids are all about modern jets and tanks and IFVs, so when new players get on and see all the WW2 tanks they think “wtf, they were showing modern tanks” then they buy the high tier prems so they can play the vics that were advertised or to try and grind through the ww2 vics so they can play modern MBTs
