    I usually wear Carhartt ripstop pants even during heavy rain. I used to work in WA and Oregon, so I am used to the same weather. My friends and co-workers put on waterproof pants when it rains hard. All it does is slow them down because they're cumbersome. If it's off and on rain, I don't even get saturated in ripstop pants. If you don't stop moving, you won't get cold even if wet. But once you're done moving, get inside or you'll get sick. I wear a Arbortech breathflex jacket, t's the best I've ever used for outdoor work. I've tried everything. lol

    Your videos are well made and you have a talent for editing. I think that, in general, you have the right circumstances to make good use of your sawmill, having access to the equipment and being in area where timber is plentiful. It's not a situation most people have.

      Thank you, Robb403! My line of work and location definitely help make things easier. I applaud the guys I see that don’t have it as easy.

    Wish I could fling 4x6 around like that. I thought that was hemlock until you said fir at the end.

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They call it silver fir. I think it’s pretty much Hemlock. Those green timbers were HEAVY! Probably explains my rain gear issues😬

      No doubt. It was 24 here and I literally stripped down to a tee shirt to cut a big white pine down.

      Josaljo Won that was a nice looking log! Did you film it?

    • @josaljo1
      @josaljo1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took the camera with me but I was so excited to finally be cutting trees that I forgot to get it out of the truck. So the short answer is no.

    It looks like white fir or hemlock.. In Wa state In lumber stores here call it hemfir .I think white and silver fir is the same? I like your videos.

    I enjoy watching your videos...I bought a LT35 two years ago...noticed on this video you don't have the John Deere 4044...did you change tractors, and if so what do you like about the Case?

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! This is an old video. I had the Case before the John Deere.

      Very well, thank you! I’m going to make a video on Saturday where I cut down a cedar, mill it and build a raised garden planter box all in one day. We’ll see if I can execute the Wood-Mizer motto in the same day. “From forest to final form”

    Hello - Great video, very well done. I would love to know your set up. I am in the market for my first mill. Is this the gas LT35? Anything you can say to help a first-time buyer? thanks

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the gas powered lt-35. It also has a de-barker. It has been a great mill. You won’t be disappointed.

      @@NorthwestSawyer Thank you for taking the time to respond. You are milling way more than I will so if it is working for you it will work for me. thanks again.

    I am looking for my next saw mill I have a Hudson HFE 21 no complaint just need to be able to do larger Logs. Your videos are really great, I was pricing out the LT 35 Hydraulic have you found the Debarked to be with the money.

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Pat. If I was buying my mill again I would definitely get the debarker. Every time it kicked out a rock, it saves my blade. That adds up fast.

      @@NorthwestSawyer Thanks for the reply I am going to pick up my new LT 35 With a debarked. And looking forward to doing lots of cutting we have 15 large Cotton wood logs in the yard and more battle kill Alaska spruce at the 160 Acres of timber at the Homestead. hoping to cut into the winter months. If there ism anything you can think of that was a suprise about the LT 35 it would be nice to get your feed back. Question do you cover your power head when not in use to keep the Electrtial from getting wet??
      Pat

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No surprises, Pat. Just get yourself a box of blades. Wood-Mizer will get you what you need for the wood you’re cutting. Currently I just use a tarp to cover my sawmill when I need to leave it out. Otherwise I have a lean-to next to my shop that I park it under.

    I thought you were supposed to do rough cuts to the nominal size of 4" by 6" and then have 1/2" of material to remove with planeing and sending to get to the dimensional size?

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically. But I’m not planing this.

  • @almonjacob3496

    Do you primarily mill green wood? Do you have a dedicated place to dry the wood?

    • @NorthwestSawyer
      @NorthwestSawyer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly. I do some re-claimed sawing that’s definitely seasoned. I have a couple out buildings that I store my lumber in.

      You'd probably laugh pretty hard if I showed it to you. I film with an iPhone X thats clamped to a piece of wood that's being held up by a telescope tripod from Toys-R-us

    I live in Serbia,a very poor country compared with USA or Canada,but those mirror frames you made at the end ,looks so incredibly cheap,and nobody in Serbia would hang something like that on the wall.
    I must say ,that i'm in woodworking business my whole life and that i made several hundred types of frames in my life and every each one of them looks much ,much better and more professionally done.
    I was in USA,few years ago,and i was amazed how you live in cheap houses by our standards.
    Our houses are made of hard materials,with lots of re bar and iron and they could withstand any kind of wind that blows in USA,unlike your montage houses.
    We have houses like yours in Serbia,but they are very cheap an very bad.You can buy house around 100 m2 for 20 000 euros,brand new.

    Instead of burning the branches in the back why not use it as mulch.
