Those curved bust darts are really doing *the most* to make this dress ridiculously flattering 😍✨ what a great technique!! This is such a perfect work Christmas party number 🥳🎄😏 (so that you get to say "thanks, I made it" on repeat hehe)
I’ve been loving the gothic style dresses you’ve been making for the holidays! I probably won’t be making this soon as I’d be self conscious about the bias cut over my hips, but it looks fabulous on you 😊
Thank you Tanya 🥰 You’re right, I suppose my recent makes have been a bit more goth than usual 🤔 ☺️ Bias cuts can be super flattering - I often see bridesmaids in all sizes wearing that same bias cowl neck dress and they all look amazing ~ and there’s always secret helpers like shape wear 😏☺️
Wish my dummy looked that good. The dress is gorgeous. I'm still trying to get my head around those curved darts which sound like a good idea... I'll have to do some homework. Learn something every day. Love the complete outfit. You look fab. I felt for you down on the floor to cut out. I have a lovely big table but back in the day, my mother used to take her fabric to work and cut out on the boardroom table at lunch time!!!!
Thank you so much! Make sure to watch these videos to see how I first got the idea for the curved darts: th-cam.com/video/ai2V0r_vgp4/w-d-xo.html and this one th-cam.com/video/ffEEuwwRBqM/w-d-xo.html It's my dream to have a big cutting table once! I know I'll get there xx
Wow! I don’t think I’d wear it to an office party but it’s sure a gorgeous dress. You make everything look so easy and I’m very impressed with your pattern drafting skills. Subbed 👏
Thank you for your videos. I love them. You've got a great voice and mostly great music choices. It's the perfect company late at night when I can do my sewing. One day I hope to make a m basic bodice piece based on your instructions. Thank you.
you're content is so underated! I love, LOVE this dress so much it came out SO stunning on you!hope more ppl can discover this amaizing channel🥰 wish you all the best
I’m making a Christmas dress right now out of velveteen and even tho the fabric is so gorgeous it’s just so messy and within 5 minutes I and my work area are covered in fluff
You'll have to ask Santa for a little desk top vacuum! Or you could try wrapping a bit of tape (like sellotape) inside out around your fingers and using it to tap up the fluff.
Oh I know it can be messy - I made a dress from silk velvet last year and it was a nightmare, this time around it wasn’t as bad but not sure why. Agree with @RosalieJordan, very happy to have a Dyson now (had another cord-hand-vacuum before) which helps me keep my space clean ☺️
Thank you so much for watching! ☺️ The curved dart is something I discovered at the time which can help with shaping the bust area and make it better fitting. There is a two-part video series where I realised this making a The Vampires Wife inspired dress, you can see it here if you like: th-cam.com/video/ai2V0r_vgp4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ffEEuwwRBqM/w-d-xo.html

Thank you! 🥰 I know, isn’t it the best hack? I’ve applied it to ALL my projects since the Vampires Wife dress, it just works ✨
Omg the fabric 😍 Is so beautiful and the dress 💚 I don't know if someone already did it but those curved darts should have your name 🥺
Haha awwww thank you! I‘m definitely hooked on them - they will be used in many projects to come 🥰
i need to do this, i already know i want a darkviolet and kinda like a bell shaped end in the skirt, very "whimsical goth" style 😻😻😻
That sounds super cool, I bet it will look amazing 🙌

I bet we start seeing those curved darts in a few indie patterns now, they look great, and the lace was perfect.
Thank you so much! Hopefully I can incorporate them in more projects now, let’s see what next year brings 🤞✨

Thanks for the tutorial. Please when creating the curved dart by how many cm did you come down from the burst point and from the sides?
I moved 11cm in starting from the bust apex and widened the dart by about 1.5 cm to create the curve! Hope that helps ☺️
@@ThrillsandStitches thanks
This video is great. I'm a beginner. beginner.. may I ask why the dart of curved and how I can learn to draw curved darts.

Hi! Great dress! I'm assuming you made the armhole bigger on both bodice pieces??
Thank you! The neckline is lowered below the armholes, so yes they are bigger :)
