Your ability to convey a story through lyricism is breathtaking. This song is the one of the best post grime songs released in a long time. Keep up the good work, man.
Nikola Mikic He’s talking about the epidemic of violence, murders and crime going on in London; “duck this smoke” refers to dodging meaning that you can’t hide from the beef and you’ll end up getting hurt from it, you can’t hide from the truth of this violence or someday you’ll get caught up in it. Smoke is a warning of a fire and it alerts passerby’s, the fire in this case is London and rather than running away from it or ignoring it Knucks is saying to tackle it head on.
@damian To give you a more analytical, opininated reply, "London's Burning" is an old nursery rhyme from 1580 after the Burning of Edinburgh in 1544. The change of lyrics is mostly known for the 1666 great fire of london when london had a really big fire that crossed miles. A lot of people died and it took a lot of time to rebuild the structure that you see today. "You can't duck this smoke" refers to people shooting and stabbing people in london. Its a tight knit community, (metaphorically similar to the houses back in 1666) all the gangs that are beefing each other live 10 minutes away. Since civilians who are not affiliated with a gang live in close proximity from members of other gangs, we can never truly avoid/"duck" the mayhem/"smoke" around us. He asks you "can't you see london's burning?" because there's a big crisis with gun and knife crime and it's like people can't see the fire when its crossing the nation. You can tell its about gang crime because the next line he says is "Man know about serving, man know bout the pot and stove" which means serving under a gang and cooking crack to sell. I hope that makes the imagery clearer. It is just what I intepreted from it and from the replies, londoners know exactly what he was talking about.

I'm not into it.
@@topsecret5110 Yeah, man mostly eritreans, somalis and gambians. Most countries have black ppl. Life can be pretty tough anywhere. We have a big problem with shootings in Sweden. The drug trade is very extensive and gangs are fighting over markets. Same as in most places... but we have a lot of guns, to easy to get, very sad.
@@mansa3105 Wow, man. I don't Even know what to say. That's wild... It hurts me to hear things like that...the fact that it's the same in a lot of European countries like Germany and France. You just hurt yourself thinking about it. Shit damn near sends me into a depression.
The kicks and snares, the sax, the piano, the delivery, the flow, the chorus, the story, the visuals, the nostalgia... Best video I’ve seen this year WELL DONE 👏🏽🇬🇧
MOM'S SAYIN STUFF ABOUT OPENIN UP BUT THAT'S WHAT THE BRO'S ARE FOR -- and the fact that he closes the song rapping about the missed calls from his mum and sayin "man i should've went home" is actually a pretty accurate description of a pattern you find way too often in our society. the lack of child-parent connection and children opening themselves up to their homies without realizing that this role is reserved for their parents/adult of trust is root of a lot of crimes happening nowadays. You won't find the love and compassion you need to feel some sort of security and intimacy in people that are looking for it themselves/are not yet aware enough of themselves to give it to you in a healthy and mature way. connections like these are as beautiful as they are dangerous because they are instabil and make you dependent on each other. I like how knucks is adressing this pattern in such a subtle manner
the song reminded me of my younger years.. of those countless incidents that could've been easily prevented if I listened to mums and stayed home that night.. rest in peace to all my fallen soldiers, and props to #knucks for this dope track..

this song live is knucks best song no doubt. knucks has an ear for elite beats, that combined with his bars makes him a very very good artist.
Need more of this guy, This reminds me of real Hiphop right here, i hope this guy blows up bigger than any UK artist, and makes even better and more meaningful songs.
I'm from Sweden and most of our rap is exactly like all of your UK drill.
We need more of this. Rap should be reflective not encouraging when it's about negativity. So sad when I hear about brothers killing each other, no matter where it's happening. Thank you Knucks.
Didn't even know Sweden had rap. I didn't even know you had shit like that in Sweden.
I agree with you wholly though. I wish people didn't just follow trends...people in the UK need to break out more with their genres.
@@topsecret5110 yeah bro same story for black ppk everywhere. It's only in africa where they don't make gangster rap haha.
Check this out, I like dig this dude though:

@@mansa3105 SWEDEN HAS BLACK PEOPLE??? WTF? 😂 Learn something new everyday.
I'm really not into gangsta rap tho like...with the exception of Wu-Tang Clan and maybe NWA...well, I guess a lot of the 90s era of US artists: Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Ice Cube, etc.
The fact that other countries have gangsta rap just makes me sad...apart from Russia because that kinda makes sense...but places like Sweden or Germany...come the fuck on.
It's one of those things where it's easier to just not think about. Like the way Euro-Astralians treat the aborigines in Australia. There's nothing you can say or do to make any sense of it.
Know dave and knucks need more uk music if your an addict for uk music pmo some lyrical geniuses
I like how knucks is adressing this pattern in such a subtle manner
pffff true shit brother very well said
Underrated comment
Evolving London rap sound 🔥 finally

the song reminded me of my younger years.. of those countless incidents that could've been easily prevented if I listened to mums and stayed home that night.. rest in peace to all my fallen soldiers, and props to #knucks for this dope track..

Because it will make people think lol
First time hearing him. I'll just say that this is gonna blow up real soon... 🔥🔥🔥
Im not from the UK, but if this guy knew that ”Anna” (short for ”animosity”) is American/Memphis slang for ”Beef”, and used that as a metaphor, instantly makes this song a hundred times better
Doubt he did but good to know
