and me thanks for the research feel for the people trying to buy it before hope it gets better in blackpool. Can i ask how you get the screen so clear app do you use ???
Thanks for the very informative videos on the great fire of Hackets. Full of info and most enjoyable watching them knock it down. Feel really sorry for the owner such a shame
hate to joke about it, but, with you mentioning about St Chads being demolished, we know now that the New Hacketts won that particular race. but that's true of a lot of places - things get demolished and things get built. we've got a fair amount of that sort of thing going on here in Stockport (new bus station and several other buildings - with a ton of sacrificial buildings in the not-so-comforting arms of a demolition team) and whilst it's sad to see old familiarity disappear it's also good to see what's going to be demolished in the future (so that some of us can yell at the 'young 'uns' "we saw that being built - and the building before it!") and it's just good to see new things now and then - keeps everything fresh (in a way.) sometimes if you stand still for long enough, you see all the changes happening around you and it's like being on a journey with it.
Hi Jane thank you for another great video as always you are fantastic you are doing so great with the updates absolutely brilliant that has come down quick i wouldn't like to clean all of that have a lovely day xx
Thank you Jane for the update and information you seem like a lovely person to do this for us followers . You are not a nerd there are people that are nerds but you aren’t one
Thanks so much for your review, have ,tried to keep up with your blogs...you are doing a super impressed job..(respect 👏)....no water backlash, its all good.
Thank you Jane I've been watching and commenting for the last week. I started with Walk ok the Wild Side many years ago. A family member from Blackpool told me to check your vlog. Yours has been far the best footage of the dimices of the Not so New Hacketts Hotel. So thank you again Jane and your tea boy in training.
I used to live in the hotel that has just burnt down. When I lived in it. It was called White Lodge and I was there just after the war till 1948. The hotel was very successful with visitors returning every year. I remember Christmas as being particularly joyful my sister was very friendly with the daughter of the cliffs Hotel next door and they both paid a visit to field Marshal Montgomery in his room. He gave them sweets but Cynthia couldn’t resist pulling up her skirt as she left, she was only eight years old, I feel so sad that this. Hotel has met such a disaster
They soon crack on with work in Blackpool at a pace. Bet next weekend it will be clear. Thank you for the info always interesting and you have to feel for the owner terrible responsibility to have
Thanks for the update, they are doing a great job, and got alot done quickly. By the way you have not covered young farmers weekend !! Sure you would have loved that !! Only joking lol !! Went into blackpool sat afternoon, that was bad enough, didnt know it was happening !!
a lot of those hotels started out as individual large houses and were joined together and extended over the years ... hence why they have seperate front door entrances .... would have been nice large homes back in the day .......
I wonder if Mr Nick Moore the historian has a photograph on his gallery of the Hacketts as built to compare the main entrance in the original front elevation with the remains today?
“Power screen” is the TH-cam search you want for everything left :o) all that bust up smokey rubble goes in one end and sorted rubble comes out of many conveyor belts. Cool machine.
I can find nothing about the history of the hotel particularly the date it was built. When I first viewed your footage the other day I thought it was built about 1915, but since then, seeing all the innards, and the rear of it, it’s pretty obvious it was built, as you said, in the late 1800’s. The numerous facelifts it’s had over the years misled me. It was certainly one of the cheaper hotels at the time it was built, compared to the Cliffs Hotel next to it you can see the difference! Blackpool is a shell of its former glory, made worse by the growing number of benefit claimants moving into the what were the original back street guest houses. They are, unfortunately, the new holidays makers. They lead a life of leisure - 365 days a year, and get paid for it..
I wouldn't agree that Hacketts (the former) York House hotel was one of 'the cheaper ones' when it was built; it was certainly a good deal more luxurious than the standard guest houses the other side of Gynn Square towards the Tower. I would have dsted it about 1905. By contrast, the Cliffs Hotel was not a standard hotel by any means; it was particularly well-appointed in that it was constructed almost as a luxury hotel , in about 1920 if I remember rightly. It is sad that a quite impressive terrace has now been lost.
I expect the site will be redeveloped as luxury flats for the rich as that is what happens down here in Bournemouth, it's all they think about, how to make money and force the original people out!

@Visit Fylde Coast I was there not long back. I thought it was a dump, plus all the back streets are full of rubbish mattresses, etc. I hope Blackpool gets a lot spent on it. It was a family favourite growing up .
The next one is st chads i have stayed there they will build a new one that normal people carnt afored and it is the people like me that keep blackpool going
wtf is it with these youtube people begging people to subscribe or even asking if we like your channel we will subscribe telling people to do something is the most of putting thing about your video as soon as i hear that i turn it off let people enjoy your videos enought that they want to subscribe them selves i bet all i have that it will end up with a better sunscription per view than asking people to do it every video
At least you don't have to pay to suscribe unlike the forced BBC license which I'm sure you are happy paying although you don't even have to be watching the BBC.
Quick question. Was this hotel formerly called The Ruskin Arms Hotel before New Hacketts? The reason I’m asking is because the building looks exactly the same and as I went back to view my Stag weekend footage back in 2016 and it was on the exact location on the exact corner on the same street?
@@visitfyldecoast I never knew it closed down but after watching the footage back our the stag weekend it looks EXACTLY the same hotel, exact the same drive and it’s in exactly the same location. Somebody did an urban explore and he walked in to the room we stayed in and the ceiling tiles were the same to. And the restaurant area. Even back when we went trade wasn’t doing great there so it doesn’t surprise me that it’s bought out and renamed under new management as it was 8 years ago now. Sad end.

Rumour has it that the fire was caused by an explosion from a chronically constipated man farting 😳
You have done a fantastic covering of everything that has been happening x

Excellent coverage of this tragedy, well done Jane 👍
Is tragedy a good word. No one killed, or even hurt. One old derelict building destroyed. Don’t think Ukrainians would call it a tragedy.
I’m sure it’s a tragedy for the owner
I found your channel through this Jane, But I shall not be leaving I have watched quite a few of your other video's now, and am loving them.

Unfortunately lots of hotels in Blackpool same condition

It would be great to get to the first origins 🤞🤞🤞
As for the water and steam yeh I’ll go along with that But there must have been drains in the cellars to help take some of the water away 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

If there was any justice in this world the people who caused the fire should get the bill for clearing up the aftermath.
