    That drop model is more stable for sure . I had the taller agrifab tow behind broadcast spreader , and it would easily tip over on hills and bumps.

    I used this model to spread bermudagrass seed. Talk about small seeds! Mix with sand and you can open it up more and it gives you a visual cue of where you've been and how evenly it's spreading! Give it a shot!

    Great video I am looking at this to tow behind my UTV just not 100% sure how to hook it to the UTV I guess I need some sort of hitch attachment

      It's been years since I used this thing but from what I remember if you have a hitch with no ball on it in just a hole you can put the pin through that.

    Have you ever used this model for spreading salt or sand?

    Can you spread sand with this? I need to sand my steep driveway in the winter. I have an ATV I can pull it with. Not sure if the tube sand I buy will flow through.

    I am looking at the 100lb agri fab aereator/spreader. Do you think it would seed rye good or no?...looking for a unit between 30"-40" that would seed various cover crops. Thanks

    Would this work for the spreading of compost or would you use a peat moss spreader?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably not the best for that, unless very dry and fine compost

    Don't buy the narrower models that pull behind a mower. My new orchard is bumpy and I kept spilling it.

      @@Deathbybunjie unfortunately that’s what I was thinking, I literally can’t find an “affordable” drop spreader for powdered lime anywhere that can be humanly pushed or pulled behind an ATV

    Hi
    I am interested in this spreader but I have a question. once spreader level is set does fertilizer start dropping even when spreader is not moving or does it only drop when wheels are turning? Say I am spreading fertilizer & stop to move a branch on the ground does spreader the continue to drop so I end up with a pile of fertilizer? Thank you
    Nick

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Nick Romano good question! Most of the time it only comes out when you are moving. And it comes out evenly. However, every once in awhile when I stop it still coming out. I don't know what the difference is. If it is open too far I think it will pour out whether it is moving or not. But if you have the spreader set to a reasonable setting, it works pretty seamlessly.

    Can you do a video on how to use for first time owners of the spreader please?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really wish I could but with all I have going on right now I don't think I can, or at least not right now. The best advice I can give you is to start with a smaller opening and work up to a larger opening. Feel free to stop and look at how much you're spreading and adjust as needed. I was fortunate enough to have my daughter looking over the tailgate most of the time LOL. Sorry if I can't be of more help.

      What’s the normal setting for Scott’s fertilizers? Tighten up the bolts on the handle that will make it not so loose that it floats. First two times I applied too much. My setting now is at 1 for next time

    Can you use ag lime in this or must it be pelletized?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Thomsen it might do ag lime ok. Ag lime is very corrosive and if it gets wet it will stick right in there and the wheels won't turn. I don't know for sure. Ag lime is a lot harder to spread than pelletized and believe it or not pelletized works faster but just doesnt last as long. For smaller pot plots I really like the pelletized lime. Good luck!

  • @deepmarsh
    @deepmarsh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know much about it, but I don't understand why you don't seed with it?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +deepmarsh a very good question. I mostly seed small seems like Clover and radishes and turnips. Those small seeds don't go through a spreader like this because it doesn't close the gap down far enough really. You would have to be very careful with it. It's just easier to use a shoulder spreader and control it with your thumb and the rate of the spinning. If I planted seeds like sunflowers or soy beans, this tow behind spreader would probably work just right.

  • @nickromano8851
    @nickromano8851 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    i have this spreader & each wheel controls half the agitator & one half empties faster than the other half screwing up even application! I don't recommend

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nick Romano wow that is a pain...not sure why if both sprockets are same size. You only turning one way? (That would make one wheel turn more times but not "faster")
