    I've worked alongside Sikhs for most of my life, and become good friends with a couple. I have always known that they were their own religion, unrelated to Islam or Hinduism. But never known anything specific about their faith or traditions. Having a small peek into their community from these videos, I can better appreciate the folks I have worked with. Upon reflection, I can see some of the tenets of faith discussed here, manifested in their daily lives (not the beards and turbans). The strength of family and community, acts of service, and use of mealtime as a way to build community. I can now look back at these, not simply as the behavior of decent individuals, but as a community that practices very effectively their own principles in daily life.
    Thank you for that.

      Well...he changed his name to osho. His actual name was Rajneesh and he was a cult leader who fled India,
      settling in the state of Oregon on a ranch. The rajneeshi followers eventually ended up poisoning a town, trying to take over the political arena of the town then state, and was guilty of the biggest immigration fraud case in the country. He wasn’t Hindu or Sikh, he led his own vaguely eastern cult. He changed his name after the cult collapsed when his assistant left him, and now for some reason people don’t realize he’s the same person.

      nice hate speech lets make this clear for ones and for all, Khalsa is here to protect and provide for everyone.
      A Sikh according to the scripture is someone who follows the Guru Granth Sahib, and i think you ment Guru Gobind Singh ji instead of Guru Granth Singh. Guru Gobind Singh Ji's father is Guru Tegh Bahadur(a Guru of the Sikh), Guru Tegh Bahadur's father is Guru Hargobind(a Guru of the Sikh), so Guru Gobind Singh ji was never a HINDU, and now you will say "why do they have hindu names", having a certain name doesn't imply to what religion you belong to.

    After watching such a beautiful video, I came here to read the comments hoping something good coming out of it. But I was wrong, people from all sorts of religions are abusing each other, trying to prove other religions as inferior and what not! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!! Can't you guys take even one lesson from here and live peacefully? God is one, you can worship it in whichever form you want and leave other people on their own. Why can't you understand such a simple thing.

    • @jazzk1419
      @jazzk1419 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zafarnama Humanity is just a way to live. As they say, nothing is perfect , but we can make the world a beautiful place by kindness and love- which is the meaning of humanity for me. But some people here are too busy in making others feel inferior to understand this.

      That's one side effects of religion.
      Everyone feels theirs is the best.
      So,no matter how hard one try, there will always be religious tensions.
      That's a fact.

      +amrit raj Yeah, a sad one! But to be more precise, that's a part of human nature , more than a religion. I agree with your point though!

      I feel proud that my country has a very holy place of worship for a religion. I hope Sikhs stand up fight for independence. India should also feel what's it like to have disunity between the people.

      Talvinder Singh No this is not the case. Sikhism is not the same as "Jattism". Because "Jattism" and high caste and low caste are apart of PUNJABI CULTURE. They are NOT apart of sikhism. Punjabi culture and sikshim are not the same. For example, in punjabi culture they promote drinking alcohol and stuff like that but sikhsim is against alcohol. Sikhism is also against the cast system, so how could sikhism support caste system when it clearly is against it??? This is punjabi culture not sikhism.

    • @jojames6621
      @jojames6621 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Talvinde Singh In the RELIGION of sikhism there is no caste system that is just in the culture of Punjabi people. In the RELIGION of sikhism everyone is considered equal. For example, every sikh temple in the world has Langar (Free food) and everyone is allowed to come there and eat regardless of religion, CASTE, or skin colour. Secondly, in sikh temples everyone must sit on the floor to eat Lanagr (free food in sikh temples) ! The reason for this is because it represents equality and that no one is high or low, but rather everyone is equal at the same level which is why you must sit on the floor with everyone else. This is why you must sit on the floor at the same level at every sikh temple when eating cause it represents EQUALITY NO HIGH CASTE NO LOW CASTE ONLY EQUALITY. This is the sikh RELIGION! Yes for sure, there might be sikh PEOPLE who beleive in a caste system but thats just people you know! Not the religion. The Lanagr (free food in sikh temples) is the biggest example that the RELIGION of sikhism is AGAINST caste system. Read the links I provide below! It will give more insight!

    SIKHISM is the real thinking and teachings of GURUS there is nothing before these teachings for a Gursikh(one who only follows the teachings of Gurus ) so Hindusim,Islam,Christianity etc are Religions but Sikhism is much more than a religion SIKHISM has its own unique identity,one must not relate SIKHISM with any other religion..real spirituality lies only in SIKHISM.....waheguru ji ka khalsa sri waheguru ji ki fateh.

    Heyyyy.... what is the picture of Osho Rajneesh doing in this video (check at 4.39 mins through the video). Rajneesh is neither a Sikh Guru nor has anything to do with the Sikh religion. It's not only incorrectly depicted, but may also tantamount to being sacrilegious to show him in this video. Please change it immediately.

      Zafarnama its same with other clans of Sikhs... Khatris, Ramgarhias, Aroras, rajput are all clans who can be Sikhs n hindus..Btw.... Sikhism COMPLETELY OPPOSE evil system if CASTEISM... So Real Sikhs i. e GURSIKHS don't use any so called castes except they all use Singh, kaur and khalsa.
