I won't be planting a vegetable garden this year, for I will be having a tumor removed from my ankle. First I will be going thru 5 weeks of radiation. I git on the ball doing the rest of my Spring clean up,especially leaves that held onto the oak trees. All thar done, went shopping for perrenials, adding so many things that I discovered from watching Laura. I found flowering crabapple trees,so I bought two. Roses I went over board. Still have two to set out. Since I started watching how she takes care of her roses, I have had beautiful roses. I found some Russian sage at a nursery got to get there and buy some, wanting to copy her design around her huge fountain. Mine won't be on such a large scale, but will be pretty. I started a burm,it's where the crabapple trees went plus dogwoods, crepe myrtles, roses, lilac, a row of lavender borders it all. I got time before surgery, two months. So many things still to do. But I will finish it. One who plants a tree knowing they may never sit beneath its shade, understands the meaning of life. Now go plant a tree! Enjoy everyday. ❤
As a viewer of your channel for 4+ years, I FINALLY have a garden of my own and I’m so excited! You are such a wealth of knowledge and I’m so grateful for the all the effort put into this channel from EVERYONE that makes it possible!
@@jessicaf316- Maybe you could try one of the Greenstalk gardens? It does not look hard or expensive. I'm thinking of giving my daughter one for her BD.
@@jessicaf316 oh man! I bet you are dreaming up your future garden space big time! I started with an apartment patio garden. Wish I could show you a picture of how crazy it looked with all the garden pots and veggies. Hopefully you have a few beautiful pots with some roses and some proven winners hanging pots to enjoy? 😊
I'm glad you continue to use those domes even if they are discoloring. We all need to use everything until it can no longer be used in order to save our landfills. You and Samantha look lovely this morning. 🥦🥕🧄
Careful breathing in all that fertilizer. Even moldy mulch can cause Sarcoidosis. Respiratory therapists are like GOLD. One doesn’t realize this until one can’t breathe or suffers an intubation injury.
What looked like Samantha Grace swinging on those super hoops was a little heart stopping at first, but a great testament to how sturdy those thin little wires actually are! What a great little accidental advertisement/endorsement for the brand. 😅
I love when you start to plant your garden... mean mines a month off. We've gotten a blast of cold and snow this week so it was nice seeing some sunshine and green things ❤
Plant tag hack - use a label maker instead of a marker. Make a label and stick it to the plant tag. It never fades, water doesn't affect it, and it clearly peels away so you can reuse the tag again next year.
My spinach and kale that I planted by seed are up! This is the earliest I’ve planted. I also planted sweet peas that are starting to pop out. Have a great day everyone! Donna
Usually potatoes, peas and onions are planted by the Ides of March. We have had continuous hard freezes and windy days. I am so happy that your beds are started. They are lovely.
Russell says “I’m just promoting the Merch mom!” Hey Aaron - I mowed my lawn yesterday. It wasn’t necessarily long but it did help clean some leaves and dry grass up and it looks a whole lot better. I’m sure yours does as well. 😊
I love your expanding bamboo trellis!!! Brilliant! Where can I get some? Your veggie garden is a dream! So elegant, and I love the flowers in containers.❤❤❤
Love seeing Samantha wanting to be your little helper! You have such sweet children! Lucky you getting things in the beds. We in Wisconsin are looking at about 6 inches of snow tomorrow night. Our mild winter has saved it all for the end...lol.
You are so fortunate to be able to get out and plant now. We are getting another snowfall of 6”-12” or more starting this morning and continuing into Friday. Ahhh spring! 😿
Laura, I've had a similar experience with my neighbor's arbs growing into my space in search of water. I am always shocked how much I have to battle their roots when I plant something. I think your hypothesis is spot on.
I'm betting it feels just wonderful to be planting in those raised beds! Can't wait to see how to install the drip tape, as I will be doing the same. Love the background music in this one, by the way!
Katarina cabbage we loved using cut into thin strips as lettuce. We used them on tacos, salads, bbq sandwiches for a sweet crunch with a spicy bbq sauce, etc. they are so crunchy and perfect with everything we have tried! Good luck!
I wish I had room for this kind of garden. I live in a mobile home park and our yards are as thin as a single wide home. When I was a child our next door neighbor had a huge garden on the side of his house and grew all sorts of vegetables. My parents had two big gardens.
Oh, that's more than enough to do something with, especially if you have protection from wind and too much sun! You could make a lovely cottage garden with edibles for you, and flowers for the birds and pollinators! I'd give you seeds and plants to encourage you!!! Get some perennial milkweeds at least! 🦋🦋🦋🤗
I have such a problem with the neighbor’s tree roots in my bed. Just dug up a raised bed and laid down weed fabric so hopefully things will do better this year.
Ditto and good luck! My neighbor has Burning Bush on the other side of the fence. And the roots are so invasive, it's just like a fine mesh that runs through my soil on my side, smothers and consumes anything I plant it's very frustrating because this is a pretty big section I can't plant. In the 20 years I've been here been here, I've probably tried 20 different things!
This was such a satisfying video. All those will be fun to eat when they are ripe. Samatha is so cute and you encourage her so nicely. Have a blessed day everyone.
When you set up your raised beds, what did you fill them with? I'm trying to make sure I do it well from the start, but consider my budget as well... Also, how often do you add soil/compost/etc. and what do you add? Thanks for all the help and inspiration!
Living my gardening through you this year!! Loved this video. Can’t beat hands in the dirt. Planted garden with my mom as I grew up-now treasured memories!❤
I love this time of the year. I love when you can plant. I love when things are starting to wake up. Thanks for sharing. I did so much in my garden beds this last couple of weeks I am taking a short break. I hope to start planting veggies soon. I am so excited to get my hands dirty and watch the plants grow. My favorite time of the year. Thanks for sharing your experience with us all. I love how Samantha was helping in the garden. It’s good to teach them young. The little one's imaginative experience of the garden was a joy to watch. That garden bed looked like it needed just a little compaction anyways... Hahaha
nice plantings! Maybe try to keep the beds always covered with a cover crop to avoid soil compaction and give the microbes something to eat so that the soil remains a living soil!
ahhh, love seeing little baby crops and seeds going into the spring garden! you had quite a few helpers today, and all of them were very cute! Aaron looks happy getting to mow 'his' grass and yeah, happy he didn't burn it, haha... 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Love the bamboo structures and the container with daffodils in the middle of the vegetable garden. I've never planted vegetables. Everything looks nice and tidy.
Hi Laura, Have you thought of planting trailing/climbing Nasturiums under your black oblisks? Pretty, edible flowers and takes care some certain pests. Also, where did you get the bamboo trellises?
Absolutely loved seeing the worm in the soil at the bottom left corner of the raised bed at about minute 18:45. Such a good sign of a healthy garden. Love from sunny Sydney, Australia and the autumnal equinox.
Very small garden this year. I planted a few onions and hope they will be big enough for me to harvest before I sell my home. If not, then I hope the new owners will enjoy them.
For some reason, you are looking extra pretty in this video! Springtime glow, I guess? My springtime glow is usually a combo of mud and sweat haha! Garden looks great! My mom and I (she’s in ID, I’m in CA) are going to try to make a trip up to check out your parent’s store near the end of May-can’t wait!
Beautiful! It's so fun to see your garden go in. It inspires me to get out and do mine!! Samantha's hair is getting so long. She is such a good little worker.

I’ve never had an interest in vegetable gardening, but the first mention of Beatrix Potter and I’m like 😮🤔 Hmmmm lol

Laura, no judgement here for using old sun damaged domes. I literally save my toilet paper and paper towel rolls for use as bio pot seed starts. 😋
I wish i could be planting. Winter has returned. Snow yesterday and this morning another 2”. Living the dream through Garden Answer💐🇨🇦💝
Me too! 🙋🏻♀️😊
Michigan is miserably cold again. Got up to snow this morning-- went back to bed!

Ahh, to be a little girl again….carefree, running through mama’s garden hoops. She is so cute!!!!
Beautiful spring garden and sweet little daughter helping--that's as perfect as life gets right there ❤

im still covered in a foot of snow. So nice being able to watch others garden

The amber of the domes gives them an old world loveliness and adds to the charm of your very functional vegetable garden. ❤

Ha, I mowed for the first time too a few days ago - start of the season - gotta love it :))
I'm not a vegetable Gardner., but I can appreciate the work. It's nice there's a nice balance between flowers and vegetable gardening in your videos.
Living vicariously through GA as we’ve had 3” of snow overnight with more to come all week. Tonight’s low forecast is 5F (-15C) 🥶🇨🇦

Great video! Hope to be able to start here in Ohio soon.
No shame in reusing stuff that isnt the prettiest - I love it that you show that

Can you share a link to the bamboo trellis you used for your peas? I don’t see it in your description section. Thank you!! Love your videos!
