- A major drive is underway in the Western and Central Pacific to recover monitoring tags placed on LIVE tuna stocks this year.
In just over 15 years, the Pacific Community has tagged close to half a million Tuna across the region in order to monitor the health of world’s largest tuna fishery.
This years' tagging expedition is currently voyaging the Kiribati EEZ and the Phoenix Islands Marine Protected Area before its scheduled return to Honolulu on 05 October.
In an effort to speed up the analysis process, the SPC is offering up to two hundred and fifty US dollars for one tag.
