I actually really like how they didn't just use the movies as the only source. The writers of the dialogue are at least familiar with the comics, bases on the mentions of Knull, Klyntar, and Venom's syntax and lexicon. Super glad, because I don't dislike the movies, but I would have been upset if they'd only looked at the movies, because those aren't accurate interpretations of the character.

On the same issue that established Knull's origin, it was established that after Knull was weakened and trapped within Klyntar, the symbiotes tried to rewrite their own history through the backstory we saw back in Flash's Guardian of the Galaxy days. So now, it was not retconned, since as opposite as these interpretations are, they still complement each other. They acted that way then because Knull was still dormant and the symbiotes were still trying to cover up that monstrous past of theirs.

The best Steve Blum's sounded as Venom yet tbh. Dude's come a long way since Ultimate Alliance 1. This voice sounds snarly and deep, but not too filtered like Ultimate Alliance 3 was Only complaint is that this isn't Eddie talking through the symbiote as he should, it's just the symbiote speaking for him

I like that they used more modern elements from the comics, such as Eddie being more friendly with other heroes, as well as the existence of Klyntar & Knull. As for the voice & performance, it's a bit too monsterous for me, I always saw Venom having a more casual speech pattern, something akin to Daran Norris's or Bradley Jame's performance
I missed Steve Blum's gravelly deep monster voice. It's always fun to hear it like in Killer Croc from Arkham City or Anub'arak in Warcraft 3. Must be rough on the vocal cords though

I know there's a lot of cynicism related to Peni because she is "copying" Dva, but it's the classic example of cyclical storytelling, Peni was created first, her story is a giant tragedy (like every other Spiderman) and she is kinda depressed... this Peni from Rivals is a different take of the character, her personality resembles Dva a little more, I guess the tragedy did not fully impacted her yet (the Parker luck)

I genuinely love his voice, honestly Tony Todd was wasted but so good, this is a more gutteral and monstrous voice.
I like that they used more modern elements from the comics, such as Eddie being more friendly with other heroes, as well as the existence of Klyntar & Knull. As for the voice & performance, it's a bit too monsterous for me, I always saw Venom having a more casual speech pattern, something akin to Daran Norris's or Bradley Jame's performance
I missed Steve Blum's gravelly deep monster voice. It's always fun to hear it like in Killer Croc from Arkham City or Anub'arak in Warcraft 3. Must be rough on the vocal cords though

Interesting how this Peni Parker, while taking more cues from the original designwise, isn't directly that one, as in her story, she has her own Venom
You can tell she definitely hasn't met THAT venom yet; she's too happy
I know there's a lot of cynicism related to Peni because she is "copying" Dva, but it's the classic example of cyclical storytelling, Peni was created first, her story is a giant tragedy (like every other Spiderman) and she is kinda depressed... this Peni from Rivals is a different take of the character, her personality resembles Dva a little more, I guess the tragedy did not fully impacted her yet (the Parker luck)
