I don't think you need to change either of your gold strands for the Lykke, but I know you see them better in person. I think you've got a good contrast between your two green stands, so the contrast in the stripe will match! Maybe try taking a photo of all 4 skeins in grey scale, just to compare the contrast?❤
It was truly a coincidence that you mentioned making the Purl Soho Classic Ribbed Beanie in the color Red Mulberry because I literally just started it an hour ago for the KAL. Thanks for the podcast and keeping me entertained as I knit the night away 🩷
Love your Alder!! I have yarn for the Rosenlund top/very nervous about the cotton yarn, my hands get achy too. Hope you’re feeling more relaxed/centered about your projects ❤I think we can all feel the pain of over committing and under “performing” it’s nice to remember to give ourselves grace.
Here in Germany you can buy the Sandnes Garn catalogues on several knit shops! Luckily the german patterns are in the same book as the english ones 😉 so that can be an alternative, if you just want the book :)
I was also dufger8ng from testknittitis and i needed to slow down 😂 i am finishing one and on another and that is s it. Your Rosalind top is just stunning and good luck ❤
Oh you could totally use an Isager Alpaca 1 which is lace weight and can be completely subbed in for lace weight mohair. As much as I love a Suri, this is my new fave sub in for when I'm not feeling mohair and don't mind missing out on the halo
I agree with you slowing down on your projects. The rush does take the pure joy of of knitting. I only have one or two projects going at a time. I feel if I had more than, nothing would get completed. Take care of your hands😎
Good luck with all of your test knits! I'd join the Purl Soho hat KAL, but prizes are only eligible in the states, so this Canadian gal is just going to finish up her other WIPs instead.
As always thanks for sharing your process and where you are. We’ve all been there feeling overwhelmed.. I love seeing your process on how to re center. Love watching you and knitting along
Just finished watching the video and I really liked it 😊 thank you for sharing all your wips and patterns that you want to do. Lately I have just been obsessing on knitting one pattern to get it done but I did cast on the hat from purl soho in the yarn you suggested. I really do appreciate when you take the time to tell us about a certain yarn especially the suri compared to the mohair very helpful. You should be getting ready fir Rhinebeck have a wonderful time I look forward to all that you did there 😊
You mentioned a machine that helps you with your hands. Would you be willing to show it and talk more about how it helps? I do stretching exercises and they help but would love to know what you use.
Sari Nordland has become my favorite designer this year. I am obsessed with all her patterns, and I cannot wait for her new book! I hope your hands feel better! It will be so worth once the Rosenlund top is finished. Have fun at Rhinebeck!
Loved the way you looked with your beautiful finished Alder sweater over the striped long shirt. Really admitted your knitting and how much you can accomplish. I can’t way to retired from my full time job so I can have more time to knit . 😂😂
Kaci, I love your sweater and congrats on finishing it! This year is my first year at Rhinebeck so maybe I will see you. The purl soho classic rib hat is on repeat for me and I purchase cashmere bloom when ever it is on sale. It’s probably my favorite yarn to knit with. It’s a. Treat for my hands. Thanks for sharing all your test knit shenanigans makes be feel supported ❤
This was very helpful. I’ve just finished my second sweater and was not happy with the length. I’m going to try changing the length while blocking it. I’m inspired that I can just rip out and make adjustments. I’m developing more confidence with adjustments.
Thank you for a lovely podcast. I love watching you, you seem such a happy lady . And, not knitting related, your choice of music for the podcast is great. Your knitting is wonderful and your choice of colors is exactly my taste. Looking forward to next Thursday! Hugs from The Netherlands.
I had so much fun being a test knit buddy with you for the Alder sweater, I LOVE your 3/4 length sleeves and slightly longer ribbing, it's so cute! And your Lykke sweater is going to look amazing on you. I like the more rusty colored stripe using La Bien Aimee's suri, it's so warm and fall-ish and 70's vibes.
I’m knitting a very basic 2 x 2 ribbed beanie with 2 stripes now for my grandson. That’s what I would do with your merino cashmere blend yarn…they go very well together. Red mulberry with 2 tide pool stripes. Or reverse. I’m going to go to PurlSoho and check out that pattern. Love your videos.
Your test knits are terrific! It is so sad that plant fibres are so hard on the hands as my sensitive skin and body that runs hot does better with those fibres, but my hands and my heart prefer wool too. Sigh! I need to join the hat making as they are such great gifts. Thanks for the reminder. Have a blast at Rhinebeck- FOMO here in BC Canada!
I do a ton of test knits. Many times have 3+ at the same time. In order to finish on time I do not do any of my own stuff. I need to take a break too, I have a giant list of stuff I want to make.
I have many projects going as well. However, I have a very stressful job and it is my me time to unwind and drop the stress from work. I also have undiagnosed ADHD. I have many squirrel moments. Some days I can do something really detailed but then I have projects for the days that I can’t be that focused. I love your podcast because it reminds me of home. I am from the delta in Arkansas now transplanted to Arizona. I am still making wool garments because…on my goodness we only have 2 weeks of winter but indoors the rest of the year is freezing. I am going to have to invest some time in shawls…😂
When you mentioned Uma, all I can think is, "IT'S UMA, JERRY!" You better understand that reference. 🤣 I'm working on a crochet shawl, and may also finish the blanket I started far too long ago and stashed because it made me mad. 🤣 I also need to finish my Christmas quilt. It's been a long term sewing project, but I think I'd like to finish it this year. We'll see if that happens. I'm a person who loves to make stuff, BUT I have to be in the mood. I go through phases of needing to stitch something (crochet, knit, or sewing), daily and then I go through months where I don't want to touch anything.
I would love to hear more about how you fit for the bust - I still struggle with that! I'll check your other videos to see if you have addressed that before!! I LOVE three quarter sleeves myself!
You literally read my mind with the vision for the Lykke! I think that color is going to just be gorgeous!!! Especially with your hands, it can get done when it gets done! I hope things smooth themselves out soon 💛
I was wondering if Rebecca was going to make the Alder as a cardigan too. I have my own furnace in my body so i can't wear pullovers, i need cardigans that i can take off quickly and put on easily when needed.
Hi Kaci! You propably know this but just in case ... Titicaca from Holst Garn is a wonderful alternative to silk mohair. The thickness is pretty similar, I think.
Oh I do LOVE the way you edit your podcasts, they are so funny! I think you’re being very sensible in trying to limit your cast-ons and test-knits ; I’m very impurlsive myself amd easily overwhelm myself. Yes, take a step back! Good luck with your various deadlines!
I like the cashmere merino bloom yarn you picked out for the KAL. I would do the three colorblocks version of the hat and use both the colors together! I plan on making one for my husband and one for me during the KAL. I'm usually a monogamous knitter, and I already have a sweater on the needles, but hey if Kaci can have all those WIPs at once, I can do a hat at the same time as the sweater! :P
Thanks Kaci for another inspirational and enjoyable podcast. I’ve been watching the progress on your Alder Sweater and wasn’t really sure it was a pattern I wanted to knit, BUT, with the close-up shot I could see just how beautiful it is. Now I’m off to Ravelry to add that to my queue. It’s soo gorgeous. I’m on a sweater knitting kick since your last few videos. Enjoy your knitting and Rhinebeck when you get there.
What is the name of the machine you use for your hands. I have so much arthritis that sometimes I just can’t knit or spin at all. I do have exercises that the PT gave me which are only a little helpful.
The tide pool looks very nice on you! Love the Creabea Sweater and that looks fabulous on you. It fits you magnificently! Music at the close of the podcast?
Your knits are beautiful. I enjoyed hearing about your progress, although I did get a little tense when you were talking about the Lyyke Pullover! 😂 For the stripes, why don’t you knit a swatch of the Knitting for Olive and the Kumo? The two together might just work. I love that green, by the way. Good luck!
With your dark green test knit, you’re not gonna like this, and it’s probably too late : but to me the solution is obvious - just use one yarn, don’t hold anything with it , yes the Suri will always be too thick and you can’t wear mohair. I’d use something like LITLG Hinterland which has Gotland wool in it so has a lovely halo, is non superwash and drapes beautifully. Good luck whatever you choose but don’t fall into the trap of thinking you always have to hold two yarns together as that seems to cause you a lot of stress( not to mention expense)!!
Hi Kaci! This might sound crazy, but I live just outside Rhinebeck. Would you like to get tea while you’re here or stay in our guest house if you still need housing? ❤ Jeni
Why do u specifically love Sonder yarn. I just visited their site and I noticed they had halo type yarn that looked like roving. How do u use this type of yarn. Maybe after Reinback u could explain how u use Sonder yarn. Also, is there a diff between BFL and merino yarn. Thanks for sharing.
I've used Sonder Sunday Morning multiple times - in both DK and fingering bases. It is not roving / unspun wool. It's a 2-ply made of masham and BFL yarn and it knits beautifully. It's very airy, like a woolen spun yarn, but I suspect it's woolen prepped fibre and worsted spun, based on how it knits. It is not prickly or itchy, nor is it soft like merino. It stands up excellently to wear with few pills. The colour palette is amongst the best out there (and there are lots of yarns being milled in this yarn combo these days). It's in my top 5 yarns for sure - and I started buying it the instant it became available - even before Sonder was Sonder. (Initially it was produced by Espace Tricot when Melissa, current Sonder owner, co-owned that yarn shop.) Sonder also produces many hand-dyed yarns on very high-quality bases - and I've also tried most of them. Those yarns are mainly solid colours with lots of depth, with occasional tonality, but only very slightly. The palette is the best (in my opinion) of any hand-dye yarn company I've come across. I've not used a Sonder yarn that I wouldn't recommend.

I always laugh when you say you are tall, 5 foot eight. That’s the same height as me, and I always wish I was tall. I consider myself completely average in height!
@YoungfolkKnits as someone who is also 5'8", I consider myself not quite average, but not quite tall either - maybe slightly above average? I've had several female friends who were taller than 6' and to them I was the shorty of the group 😂 height is so relative. Like someone else said, to me tall is 6' and above, maybe 5'10" but you are right that the average height for women is 5'4" so we are technically tall!
It's a comparative term, so depends on your frame of reference. But if patterns are normally drafted assuming women are 5'5" or 5'6", then 5'8" in this context is tall. Taller than the assumption made by the pattern. I don't think the comparison group is professional basketball's here.

This code dis not work for me. (I tried it one day after you posted your video.) Is it US only? 😢 Thank you for your amazing videos!!
I always have multiple WIPs in knitting and quilting. I get bored with just one thing. You DO YOU!!
the Alder thrown over the shoulders does give subtle 90s rom com vibes
“The pattern is beautiful, I’m just complicated.” If that doesn’t describe me as a maker… 😅
Good luck with all your fabulous WIPs! See you at NY Wool & Sheep Festival! 😃
A striped hat with both colors would be pretty!

Oh my gawwwsh you’re making me blush!! ☺️ and your Alder looks awesome!!

Think 3/4 sleeves on Alder is clever. Enjoy wearing.

I'm sorry your hands are hurting, but selfishly I can't wait to see your Rosenlund top finished!! It's going to be beautiful!!!
Your Alder sweater is lovely!! I think it looks great around your shoulders and tied in front. Perfect for Rhineback!!
Beautiful yarns , beautiful knitted garments and I love your musical choices! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
When you wear the Chevron sweater you'll have to model it in front of your green plants/terra cotta pots for the perfect camo!!!

New to your channel and love your accent! I’m from North Alabama 😊
The music! What was that beautiful song? ❤ and of course, your knitting, too. 😊
It’s called “pull me close, baby love” by big girl ❤
Wow you have knitted so much. Hope you are enjoying the process along with planning for Rhinebeck.

The color combo for your Lykke Sweater test knit is stunning!
Oh thank you!
As always, you and your knits are stunning!!! ❤ and yes, we gotta chill and just knit what we want to 😂
Yes we do!
I see test calls and think I want to but then I look at the knitting I already have…..😂
Hi Kaci! 😃👏🏼👋🏽🥰 got my cup of coffee and looking forward to watching g! 😃👏🏼🧶🧶🧶 I love that you did sleeves 👍🏼👌🏽
Good morning!
Love all your knits! I also thought I’d mention that the blueish cashmere merino bloom crown looks stunning on you!
Oh thank you!
I would love to hear more about how you fit for the bust - I still struggle with that! I'll check your other videos to see if you have addressed that before!! I LOVE three quarter sleeves myself!
As a fellow Arkansan, I so agree. I guess that’s why I gravitate to cardigans. I can take off my cozy knit once I get inside 😂 Love your Alder!
You literally read my mind with the vision for the Lykke! I think that color is going to just be gorgeous!!! Especially with your hands, it can get done when it gets done! I hope things smooth themselves out soon 💛
Thank you so much!! Yes I’m thinking I’m not going to hit that deadline but hopefully she Will understand
Loved this episode as usual, but especially the song at the end! Could you share who it was please? 🙏🏻🎶
Thanks for another great podcast! Congratulations on finishing your beautiful sweater!
Thank you so much!
Fantastic job on the alder sweater!! It looks amazing on you!! ❤

Lovely video, thank you. Wondering about your thoughts on Lantern Moon needles compared to Lykke needles.
What is the name of the machine you use for your hands. I have so much arthritis that sometimes I just can’t knit or spin at all. I do have exercises that the PT gave me which are only a little helpful.
I need an armchair for yarn winding! ❤ p.s. your alder sweater is beautiful! I hope the rheinbeck weather is perfect sweater weather.
Thank you! 😊
Kaci, I wonder if you’ve shown your stash and crafting area? Might be fun!! ❤
Not yet!
The tide pool looks very nice on you! Love the Creabea Sweater and that looks fabulous on you. It fits you magnificently! Music at the close of the podcast?
“Pull me close, baby love” by Big Girl ❤️
Your knits are beautiful. I enjoyed hearing about your progress, although I did get a little tense when you were talking about the Lyyke Pullover! 😂 For the stripes, why don’t you knit a swatch of the Knitting for Olive and the Kumo? The two together might just work. I love that green, by the way. Good luck!
thank you! And yes I’m tense too 😂
You mentioned a hand massager, which one do you use? Thanks!! :)

Hi Kaci! This might sound crazy, but I live just outside Rhinebeck. Would you like to get tea while you’re here or stay in our guest house if you still need housing? ❤ Jeni
That’s so sweet!!! We do actually have housing! But I will look for you at the festivals!
LOL!!! You did it!!!!!! ❤❤❤
I did it!!!
The Wool Needles Hands channel just compared 8 of the most common wools. Not a deep dive but a useful comparative overview.
I think I’m going to finish 6 projects this week. After this, I plan on not having quite as many projects at once.
I will definitely try to chat more about this ❤
I've used Sonder Sunday Morning multiple times - in both DK and fingering bases. I've not used a Sonder yarn that I wouldn't recommend.
@@kristinm3729 Thanks for sharing the info. I did luv the colors. I was confused by the pics. The yarn looked like roving. I'm still learning about yarn fiber. Ur info was very informative. Again, thanks.
I always laugh when you say you are tall, 5 foot eight. That’s the same height as me, and I always wish I was tall. I consider myself completely average in height!
You know- average height is actually 5’4 so we are both technically tall!
Same. Although there is a big Asian population here so in height comparison .. tall is 6 foot plus
@YoungfolkKnits as someone who is also 5'8", I consider myself not quite average, but not quite tall either - maybe slightly above average? MIT Artificial Intelligence award. What exactly is that?
Next year just wear a fun knitting tshirt to rhinebeck haha. Love your wips but if you dont relax a little and give yourself a break ypu are going to burn out and then what will i watch every week????? Lol jk . Seriously take care of yourself

You're right!!
