I was born and raised in one of the most , if not the only religiously diverse country in the world. Let me give you a hint. It's in the Balkans. We had Jews, Muslims, Christian Catholics and Orthodox living in peace for generations and still continue to today. I have no religious bias at all. I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Arabic influence in the Balkan music, which came via the Ottoman 'Empire is an absolute beauty. It also influenced Spanish music as well, it's called Flamenco. It gave Spanish music a soul. There are sounds in the eastern world that the western world can never comprehend. The emotion in this guy's voice is like a message from the distant past. it is the eternal human condition of being lost and yarning for purpose in this world. Rumi believed that the Nay was the instrument which God used to communicate subliminal messages to humans to make them feel and make them humbled. The sound coming out of this guys mouth is nothing short of Devine intervention. Victor Hugo said: 'Music is that which cannot remain silent and cannot be expressed by words".

You can’t recognize the vocalist from the clarinet. Both perform exceptional. This is by far the best clarinet I’ve ever heard. Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷
IS that a conventional clarinet? I guess that’s just some kind of pickup sticking out near the mouthpiece, but just HOW does he bend the notes as widely as he does?! I haven’t played that instrument since I was a kid.
Today I discovered Dhafer Youssef and his music is magic. This song in particular made me cry, never ever I felt this way before. Like all the comments below, you are magician. Peace and Love
Absolutely magical and transcendent. Amazing is that moment at 5:41 when Dhafer tries to get closer to the clarinet player, realises his lead is too short, grimaces at 5:45 in slight frustration, then accepts it as part of the here and now, and goes straight back into the 'zone.'

Quelle transcendance... Quelles sensations.. Quelle beauté.. Quelle bonté.. Amour et paix pour chacun. Infinie gratitude. Such a song and music are a kind of link for hearts worldwide. No borders,no languages can stop the feelings, sensations of souls.
Just discovered this today, not many words to describe, other than beautiful. If I had to describe this to a friend I would call it transcendental middle eastern jazz blues, emphasis on the "transcendental" part. Truly healing music

There are just a few people on this planet who have this talent to touch your soul directly
With music coming straight from our earth
No matter where you come from, or where you go,

im just resting my soul here, an inaccessible music..
Why does that show keep hitting me right in the feels, scratching my soul again and again?
Thank you for existing Dhafer Youssef. This song is heavenly, so pure, full of true emotions. The way it starts sad, praying for the eternal truthfully. Then the deliverance, the catharsis, the joy at the end. Thank you again for all the musicians.
I am Christian and would say, “Divine!”. Beautiful, Soulful, stirring!
قشعريرة لان هذا الرجل يضرب نفس النغمة والايقاع مع الرجل الفرحان المحظوظ جيد ورائع❤❤❤ 0:31

Wow man Dafer you are a magician. How he blend his voice with the flute
Absolutely beautiful. Plays his voice like an instrument, incredible talent, I've never heard such a clean high crisp note from a male singer (and most female singers too)
Proud❤🇹🇳 what a masterpiece
Grazie alla Tunisia per aver dato a tutto il mondo questo grande musicista, patrimonio dell'umanità
Libero Libero Ci sono altri come lui non molto conosciuti...
believe it or not he does not compare to our national treasure Lotfi Bouchnak.
Dhafer is very good, Lotfi is the best.
