As someone who understands and plays the minor pentatonic scales well in all positions, this is a great explanation of adding the Dorian mode to my playing. I've found it very difficult play in C, but think of a Bb major scale while playing. It's soo much easier to think minor pentatonic and just adding two notes - the 2nd and the 6th. Great lesson. Just what I needed to get going with the Dorian Santana sound! Sounds awesome (the way you play it Brian). I’m learning so much from you 🙏
Thanks, I am a better player because you make it easy to understand, been playing for 40 years & in a few weeks my playing & under standing has exploded.
try to copy the tone for a week,,,,still Blues Jr? :D forget about the es335 which i cannot afford , i add some kind of delay just like yours ,the pedal has two delay knob to modify the delay type ,quite interesting,,,and what overdrive do you use ?
I'd just call it C Dorian normally, it is technically the same notes as A# but it's focused around the C note so it wouldn't really be in the key of A#.

Words of wisdom to mode beginners. The sound of the half steps, is what gives each mode its unique sound. Focus on those!
This lesson broke down another door. Thank you, Brian
Great lesson. Nailed the Santana vibe in a quick lesson. Love it

Nice video, very helpful
nice thanks
Fun!❤
So would this be in D Dorian? Drew a diagram but am still struggling to know what you would call it.
Would you say you are playing C Dorian in the Key of A #....kinda confused.

You would call this C Dorian
Right, which also happens to be a Bb major scale. I like these videos but instead of saying "that note" why not just name it?
Carlos the great
fantastique
I always think of the 3rd position instead of the 1st position when I play Dorian.
Go Cubbies!!
Let's see what would you call this kind of tune? l don't know, so l just call it good stuff.
The only thing I don't care for is your choice of attire. I'm from NE Ohio!!!!!!;0
Ouch! Sorry John.

Would you have worn a Indians shirt had they won?
Too much talking, not enough playing
