Hi, I have a problem. When I start everything works fine, but when it starts to resist, the lever bounces and does not hold the pressure. The oil seems to be fine and there are no leaks, but I don't know how to fix it. Can you help me, please?
This is down to air in the system. You'll needs to remove the handle and cap off the oil bag and bleed the air out. This is done by pumping the unit whilst the filler cap is out of the bag. This may need to be done multiple times to get all of the air out.
@@TecniCable Thank you so much for your reply. I have tried this 6 or 7 times, but it hasn't worked for me. Let me explain what I did so you can check if I did something wrong. I remove the screw-on metal handle and the small cap from the black oil bag. With the tool down and the filler neck up, I put the system in the working position and pump until I feel the pressure and also the rebound. Then I put the system in the release position and start again. I have done this 6 or 7 times, but I don't feel any change. Did I do something wrong?
Maybe I'm not explaining the problem well. It's the lever that bounces back strongly. I pump with the lever, it's easy at first, and little by little it starts to offer resistance (that's normal) As soon as it starts to offer resistance the lever returns to the open position, I insist but it always comes back, the lever doesn't hold, and it comes back and doesn't close the clamp with enough force.
I have a yellow 16ton for crimping wire lugs, would the kit in the beginning service mine and where could I get it? Looks the same except for color and the crimp end.
Hi Scott, Thanks for your comment. Although we designed the die sets for these tools for our wire rope applications the actual tools are of Chinese origin. Most of these types of tools are from China and the designs are extremely similar so there is a good probability that the majority of the parts in the service kit will be compatible with your tool. Here is a link to the service kit for our largest crimp tool the YCP 240C www.tecni.uk/YCP-240C-Hydraulic-Swaging-Tool-Spares-Kit-101.500.240 Hope this helps. Best regards, Trevor
Hi Dave. Thanks for your comment. The tool has an auto cut out feature to show when the maximum pressure of the machine has been reached. The best way to check the fitting has been correctly swaged is by checking the after swage diameter which you can obtain from our website www.tecni.uk for the relevant swage fitting. This tool is advertised as a hydraulic crimping tool for steel wire rope and is provided with dies to suit however it is capable for doing electrical cable as long as the correct die and size is used for what you are pressing, this is very important. Some of the presses may be too small for this machine. If the cable size is suitable and providing the after swage matches up with the manufactuer advised dimension you will know that the termination is correct. Thanks
Hi Albert. Thanks for the comment. You can purchase spare parts for this tool from our website - www.tecni.uk/Hydraulic-Tool-Spares-Kit-101.500.120. Here is another link for more detailed information on servicing the tools - www.tecni.uk/servicing-hydraulic-tools. If you have any more questions or require a quote please contact sales@tecni.uk. Thanks!
Hi Kinny. Thanks for the comment. We are not familiar with the tool mentioned so we couldn't guarantee that it would be the same but if the internal mechanism appears to be the same then the service procedure would probably be very similar. Just note the placement and alignment of all internal components during disassembly and photograph parts where necessary to ensure correct reassembly. Hope this helps. Thanks again.
@@TecniCable thanks very much. The tool is an April flange spreader but I think they're all generic products from the same manufacturer, the other name i give you is more known thats why I used it. I was told it needed 75ml of hydraulic oil, but as I found out to my annoyance it was ready for use, and me messing with it was unnecessary. Just hope I havnt damaged it. But thanks
These tools are sold under various brands in the USA and all appear to be from Chinese manufacturing. We have problems with them losing pressure when nearly new after just a few crimps. This is likely from too much force being applied. Which seals tend to blow out on new devices from too much force? The tools include seals for the cylinder and the on/off knob but not for the handle pin. I opened the tool and did not see an obvious failure at the main cylinder seal. If these tools can be improved to be more reliable, that would be a useful video. Are failures common because the handle pin seals are often damaged during manufacturing?
Hi M BO Thanks for the comment. Our Hydraulic YCP tools have a two speed action and is fitted with a safety value which automatically releases when the maximum pressure is reached. Although not impossible issues with pin seals are very rare and not one we see commonly. Unlike similar tools you may find online we provide a 12 month warranty and also offer a high quality service upgrade if required as shown in the video. For any more information please visit www. tecni.uk
I can't get the handle off of mine. I sprayed some WD-40 and the joint, and hopefully I can get it off tomorrow. The was able to take the head off, and there is no problem with those seals. In fact, if I turn it facing down, it works. I am thinking the seal for the handle pin is the problem.
Hi Ernest. Thanks for the comment. TECNI Ltd is based in the UK (however do ship our products worldwide). We also only offer servicing on our own Hydraulic Tool Range. If the tool shares similar internal components than servicing methods would most likely be similar however we would always suggest taking to a specialist. Unfortunately we do not have any contacts based in South Africa and not familiar with the Hydrolok model. Apologies for this.
Hi Michael. Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately we are not familiar/experienced in servicing that tool. The video demonstration only shows how to service our YCP hydraulic crimping tool range. As most tools have a different set up of internal components we wouldn't want to recommend a best practice for that tool as its most likely different. Sorry we couldn't help you further but thanks for taking your time to watch the video.
Hola Héctor, gracias por tu comentario. Disculpas por la demora en responder. Grado recomendado de aceite: aceite hidráulico ISO 32. Saludos cordiales, TECNI Ltd
Hi. Thanks for the comment. The cost for a service of our YCP120C or YCP240C Hydraulic Tool is £65 + VAT. (Please note we only offer servicing for these particular tools) For any more information feel free to contact sales@tecni.uk who can put together a quote for you. Thanks again!
[ POSSIBLE FIX ! ] If anyone has problems with one of these things not working then it could also be because of blocked oil pathway. My tool stopped working after one crimp and after few hours of screwing around I managed to find out that there was a small metal burr inside one of the oil pathways. After getting it out it works again.
