What a wonderfully refreshing movie! I think younger people may think it’s weird but when you’re older you realize life is too short and you need to take true on love and respect no matter who is older. From the beginning she was no more than 8 to 10 years his senior. Those years disappear when both people are mature adults. He was always mature for his age and knew what he was about. Would it be any different if the man was 10 years older. My aunt and uncle were 20 years apart and had a long happy marriage. You can tell by the comments who has experienced life and those who are stuck in their ways. I’m 71 and am still a student of life. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I think Glen Powell should be proud he was in this one! Thank you for uploading.

The reason this film was so good is because besides the rare, excellent acting of the two main characters, the story of true love shines through every moment with their genuine emotions. I am a big fan of Glen Powell after seeing him in Hidden Figures and also Top Gun:Maverick what a brilliant actor absolutely loved him in this movie very heart-felt and a script that was written well

I researched the book that this story was based on, a novella called Francois the Waif by a 19th century French female writer, George Sand. The film adheres to the original theme of the story closely, although the setting and period are very different. True love is so rare nowadays that it is heart-warming to watch such a pure relationship play out, and the acting is superb. And for anyone to find fault with such a relationship, in this case it is not the parent who encourages it, but the young man. The original story set in mid nineteenth century France this would not have been unusual, just as in classical English literature of the same period, many people married their cousins. I am just glad that this wonderful film is available for us to watch and enjoy.

It crossed boundaries, healthy boundaries that families, including adoptive families, are supposed to have. People here are saying that it's "wonderful" for an adult to seek romance with a grown child that they raised as their own? That's emotional incest. There's nothing wonderful or pure about it; it's sick.
@@rodgertyler The grace of God does *not commit emotional incest nor does it ever teach that. It sounds like you have confused lawlessness and corruption that does damage, with Creator's gift of repentance, His grace/empowerment to repent (turn back from rebellion). Most people don't know what the purpose of God's grace is: it's the divine power to turn back to the Truth as He defines it. The purpose of grace is *not to give way to corruption or to turn a blind eye to corruption, but to turn back to the Truth in one's life, on a genuine, daily, total level. Trespassing healthy boundaries does damage, and grace and love don't do that.

The orphan boy finds a lady like a tree shadow in hot desert. He grew up in a small dream world which is created by him. The lady turns everything for him. He wants to live with her forever. It is Love . He can't see tears in her eyes.he don't want to see her sad and alone. Love is mad.whatever people think and talk about it. Finally he gets his love and life again. We the viewers are happy in the end. Bye ....

What a lovely comment I love that the end where you just say bye. I really hated to say bye to this movie it touched me in so many ways mainly soulwise. I don't think a movie has ever touched me in the ways that this movie did. I have a difficult time watching the way he was so how shall I say it redneck I'll probably watch this movie many times I'll just speed up to get through the hard parts mainly Luke Perry's parts and his mother. Francis made an absolutely stellar and I really truly mean stellar appearance and acting in this movie was magnificent. Don't know what else could have played the part he played with any more emotion even though he didn't show a lot of emotion his acting did!!!!!! Oh yeah and I fell in love with the female lead although I forgot what her name is. You remind me so much of Angelina Jolie. She had so much more presence.

Love *_does_* have boundaries: there are many things that true love doesn't do because it would harm the one they love. Love upholds what is in the best, long-range interest of the one they love. They don't cross certain lines because of it, and familial boundaries are one of them. To breach adoptive parent-child roles does damage to the mind and heart: it's emotional incest. They are teaching viewers unhealthy things here that are not loving.
Some people think their relationship is immoral because it has changed from that of a mother/son to a woman/man To me she was just a caring person who wanted to provide stability At the age of 23, she met her future husband when he was 9 years old That's just what's special

The direction is impeccable..I can not imagine anything better. The length of the dialogues and pace are just appropriate. The sports with water slinging on the lawn are absolutely normal.Mirth,sorrows,laughter,bickering, suspeense and finally healing and reconciliation have been juxtaposed immaculately I wonder how all these gifted performes gathered together under one umbrella.However the character who was young enough to be embraced in the fold of Maddie becoming the lover and husband was a little surprising.None the less,this film is relete with innumerable gems,gold aand diamond pieces Human emotio,empathy and love are transboundary and the same the world over. IThe take away of wattcing this exceptionally brilliant work of art was atotal cathersis. How many awards,tropies,citations and prizes should this state of the art work should it bag?

Wow. The connection between them throughout was palpable. I was glad when the old nasty mother in law died, and her horrible husband.. It unfolded the way I wanted it too and when the young girl knew she liked him I found myself saying to the TV "your hearts gonna be broken" So when he wasn't interested in other women throwing themselves at him I just knew his heart was for Maddy. When he finally stood up for their love and told her his feelings I had tears in my eyes too! Its the best movie I've seen here. Thankyou. ❤️

Damn glad I discovered this movie, its magnificent. Overall the acting and writing is superb. But the ending scene is pure perfection: Fantastic acting, not overdone, really believable. The music is beautiful, the writing on point. I love it. Already watched it about 10 times.

My all time favorite. Such great acting and the love itself is beautiful. A complex bond that most can't understand but love and chemistry knows no bounds. If you are lucky to find love, hold it tight and don't let the world's perspective or anyone destroy it. I let go of opportunities because of age difference and now I am mature enough to understand love doesn't come by often. You gotta be brave to take it. Who cares what others think?

This is EXACTLY how the movie industry introduces and teaches/emotionally seduces the public into adopting immorality, by making a scene look "sweet," "loving," "respectful," when in actuality it is immoral, unethical, as it portrays the breaching of familial boundaries between a foster parent and a grown foster child, which introduces emotional incest to that scene. Reading the comments on this page, of viewers saying the movie is "beautiful, respectful, loving, pure," is such sorrow, that they don't even recognize the harm of that trespass being taught to viewers! These commenters show that America's moral compass is gone, that they have lost their moral bearings, that they don't even recognize the healthy boundaries that need to be honored by those in familial relationships/roles, regardless of their age.

A good movie with such a good heart-warming story of how a woman gave everything to help and take care of a younger distressed and desolate man who in turn recognized her true unselfishness caring, sharing and loving ways. After being driven away by this lady's crazy husband, he was able to find work and find himself. And this made him realized she who saved him from desperation is a one in a life time woman that he can't just let go away. He came back and married her, even though she is older. That's what life and love is all about.

True love *_does_* have boundaries: there are many things that true love doesn't do because it would harm the one they love. Love upholds what is in the best, long-range interest of the one they love. They don't cross certain lines because of it, and familial boundaries are one of them. To breach adoptive parent-child roles does damage to the mind and heart: it's emotional incest. They are teaching viewers unhealthy things here that are not loving.

What a wonderfully refreshing movie! I think younger people may think it’s weird but when you’re older you realize life is too short and you need to take true on love and respect no matter who is older. From the beginning she was no more than 8 to 10 years his senior. Those years disappear when both people are mature adults. He was always mature for his age and knew what he was about. Would it be any different if the man was 10 years older. My aunt and uncle were 20 years apart and had a long happy marriage. You can tell by the comments who has experienced life and those who are stuck in their ways. I’m 71 and am still a student of life. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I think Glen Powell should be proud he was in this one! Thank you for uploading.

Aged has nothing to do w/it. She raised this boy like a son. Not a neighbor, student, family friend...her son ! That's the disgusting part.
The reason this film was so good is because besides the rare, excellent acting of the two main characters, the story of true love shines through every moment with their genuine emotions. I can envisage watching it again and again as it restores your faith in human nature and confirms that true love does exist. Most enjoyable and thank you for posting.

I researched the book that this story was based on, a novella called Francois the Waif by a 19th century French female writer, George Sand. The film adheres to the original theme of the story closely, although the setting and period are very different. True love is so rare nowadays that it is heart-warming to watch such a pure relationship play out, and the acting is superb. And for anyone to find fault with such a relationship, in this case it is not the parent who encourages it, but the young man. The original story set in mid nineteenth century France this would not have been unusual, just as in classical English literature of the same period, many people married their cousins. I am just glad that this wonderful film is available for us to watch and enjoy.

It sounds like you have confused lawlessness and corruption that does damage, with Creator's gift of repentance, His grace/empowerment to repent (turn back from rebellion). Most people don't know what the purpose of God's grace is: it's the divine power to turn back to the Truth as He defines it. The purpose of grace is *not to give way to corruption or to turn a blind eye to corruption, but to turn back to the Truth in one's life, on a genuine, daily, total level. Trespassing healthy boundaries does damage, and grace and love don't do that.

What a lovely comment I love that the end where you just say bye. I really hated to say bye to this movie it touched me in so many ways mainly soulwise. I don't think a movie has ever touched me in the ways that this movie did. I have a difficult time watching the way he was so how shall I say it redneck I'll probably watch this movie many times I'll just speed up to get through the hard parts mainly Luke Perry's parts and his mother. Francis made an absolutely stellar and I really truly mean stellar appearance and acting in this movie was magnificent. Don't know what else could have played the part he played with any more emotion even though he didn't show a lot of emotion his acting did!!!!!!
Oh yeah and I fell in love with the female lead although I forgot what her name is. You remind me so much of Angelina Jolie. She had so much more presence.

Love *_does_* have boundaries: there are many things that true love doesn't do because it would harm the one they love. Love upholds what is in the best, long-range interest of the one they love. The direction is impeccable..I can not imagine anything better. The length of the dialogues and pace are just appropriate. Wow. The connection between them throughout was palpable. I was glad when the old nasty mother in law died, and her horrible husband.. It unfolded the way I wanted it too and when the young girl knew she liked him I found myself saying to the TV "your hearts gonna be broken" So when he wasn't interested in other women throwing themselves at him I just knew his heart was for Maddy. When he finally stood up for their love and told her his feelings I had tears in my eyes too! Its the best movie I've seen here. Thankyou. ❤️

The power of love is the most powerful 'force' on our Dear LORDS Mother Earth . The whole film had us on tender hooks , if they had parted, we would have been in floods of tears ... the ending was amazing . If you watched Brief Encounters , that parting was painful .. if you watched Wuthering Heights Laurence Olivier. When she died, Heathcliffe was mortified . then in 'Blind justice' Amande Assante portrayed a 'man with a mission' Elizebeth Shue watched him 'ride away' on horseback as she stood there, broken hearted .. This is EXACTLY how the movie industry introduces and teaches/emotionally seduces the public into adopting immorality, by making a scene look "sweet," "loving," "respectful," when in actuality it is immoral, unethical, as it portrays the breaching of familial boundaries between a foster parent and a grown foster child, which introduces emotional incest to that scene. Reading the comments on this page, of viewers saying the movie is "beautiful, respectful, loving, pure," is such sorrow, that they don't even recognize the harm of that trespass being taught to viewers! These commenters show that America's moral compass is gone, that they have lost their moral bearings, that they don't even recognize the healthy boundaries that need to be honored by those in familial relationships/roles, regardless of their age.

Confusion is destructive, and this movie introduces to viewers' that if the foster child is grown, then romance is "okay" between them and the foster parent. Forget about religion: this movie trespasses the healthy boundaries of family roles. Once those parent-child roles have been taken, to trespass those familial boundaries creates the confusion of emotional incest. Movies are used to introduce such damage to the minds of viewers: it's called "social engineering."

A good movie with such a good heart-warming story of how a woman gave everything to help and take care of a younger distressed and desolate man who in turn recognized her true unselfishness caring, sharing and loving ways. After being driven away by this lady's crazy husband, he was able to find work and find himself. And this made him realized she who saved him from desperation is a one in a life time woman that he can't just let go away. He came back and married her, even though she is older. That's what life and love is all about.

Nice movie. No matter the age gap for love. I think most people see this connection very weirdly because She the mother who did care of that little boy and felt love with each other. It's unusual happening but it they are happy for the decision, its all matter s.I really enjoyed the film. Happy ending. The actors are very good.
