I used to have this on Gamecube back in the day. Found it at a used game store the other day and have been playing it like crazy. I never had as much fun with other Nascar games as I did with this one.
Ahh memories, I remember playing the heck out of this game during my primary school days. Btw on the first race withRyan Newman, there's a strange glitch, if you block him and push him in the wrong way, his car will disappear and the split time will display +999.99.
Man the hours I put in the career mode on this game working my way up from the modifieds on legend difficulty doing 50% race lengths at 14 years old, what a blast that was. I do think the skill points thing was way too easy to accomplish, and the AI were too easy even on legend difficulty, but every other aspect about this game was amazing. Its unreal how bad Nascar games slowly went downhill after this game in my opinion, such a shame, could you imagine if we had this same game with modern graphics, but the AI were tougher than Nascar heat 4 and 5? Would be a hell of a game for sure.

Yea... this would never happen. If u live in mooresville nc where all the drivers live u see them quite a bit. If u make eye contact with them at the grocery store or something they just scurry away like scared cats.
Question: How did you make this run on PCSX2 with all the correct textures? If I play this game, all the cars have no liveries, they all Look black/Invisible and I can't tell who is who. How can I fix this?
Use a GS plugin that has OpenGL, and make sure it's hardware mode, because software mode will make it lag like crazy. Next, set interlacing to blend tff, or the screen will flicker incessantly. Finally, set internal resolution to x8 for a clear picture. This setup works for me in NASCAR 06 (in the latest dev build, at least), so it should work for NASCAR 2005. But I haven't tried it, since I play NASCAR 2005 on Dolphin (therefore, the Gamecube version lacking the tutorials and the filmed portions before the Lightning Challenges because Gamecube disks were too small for all that).

NASCAR 2005 is the third last great EA NASCAR game before it went severely downhill in NASCAR 08.
I tried wall riding in this game after yesterday's legendary move disappointed a didn't get a star power up and passed the whole field

What is the difference between the Gamecube and PS2 versions?
I tried the GameCube version on the Dolphin Emulator and that version runs at 60fps. Occasional stutter, but very playable overall
The PS2 version kinda heavy (CPU)(GPU) coz my PC gt so f***ing hot ... LOL
How hot is hot? On my laptop, the CPU (Core i7 6700HQ) and GPU (GTX 1060) usually top out at about 60-65°C while gaming (mostly BeamNG.drive).
This is the only game that make my GPU reach +70c. lol
Settings? Can't get it to run as smoothly as you do. Would love to play through career mode in this with a wheel.
