Lol.. thought i had the longest commute. 2,049 miles. I live in Illinois and work in California on a per diem situation. I work 3 weeks on west coast and go home for one week then do it all over again.
    Enjoy Europe.

the commute is long but definitely worth it for some! :) how lucky are we to have so many options as health care workers?!

How do you arrange for your cost of living to not exceed the pay ? I tried to do something similar and it seemed like I ended up making less to take home after paying for hotels or Airbnb

This is so awesome. Thanks for sharing. I want to get a few per diem jobs to maximize the pay I get but actually stay in California. How can you be sure you’ll actually get enough hours with the hospital? Also how many days for the week did you actually work and hours?

What’s the best credit card to do this with? Like as far as points and rewards?

I’m curious to know how you were able to structure working only once a month with the facility? I’m an FTE and looking to work once a month in California. Any tips would be great. ❤

What was your experience as a travel nurse? What were your pros and cons? This Per Diem nursing commute sounds interesting

So how does one find these one weekend per month jobs? What kind of title am I searching for? I'm so interested but having a hard time finding them.

I explained a bit more at 9:15 in the video, but basically you can look for "per diem" or "PRN" roles with different hospital systems. You can also start off as a travel nurse and get your foot in the door to some of these hospitals in CA :)

Does the hospital know that the nurses live in another state or do the nurses that work this way use the address of where they stay when they are in town? When you were hired on, did the hospital know that you lived across state lines?
Have you ever done 8 days in a row then got 2 months off?

My facility knew I lived in another state because I used my home address (out of state) for payroll purposes. From my experience, it didn't matter to my employer where my address was because I showed up for scheduled shifts and was available to pick up extra when needed, that's what they care about. Usually not able to do 8 in a row with 2 months off because of weekend requirements.

Are you considered a resident of California? I'm curious because of tax purposes. I am a Florida resident but took a full time job in CA. But I plan to switch to per diem if possible in a few months bc of CA tax laws.

      No, I'm taxed as a non-resident :)

@@CourtneyElRefai So you typically work for one week in CA and then fly back home?
