Bought this last year for a 4 day kayak trip and it worked beautifully. Used it all summer and fought the kids when we went camping on who was sleeping in it over the trailer.
I have been so excited to see this ever since the kickstarted. It looks like a great design, and you did a really good job explaining the pack, bag, hammock and tent. Thank you!
I have several hammocks, 2 Hennessys, a Crua, and a self built bridge hammock. I am waiting on the big brown truck as I type this with my sky blue XL. Good video, thanks for your efforts!
Love my haven tent, especially for winter camping. I did have to return the mattress, it had a slow seam leak but they were prompt in resolving the issue 👍
Hi mate! Love the review and the channel. Have a question. How flat is flat? I'm 110kg and usually sleep on my side so I'm wondering if I'll get a side bend using this system. You look flat in the video but I think your probably a lot lighter than I am.
Great video and review once again my friend. I agree the camo fly and green hammock is my preferred combination too. This system looks really good. A hammock / tent combo system. You did a great job explaining the system. Actually the video is done so well it's like a class as well as a review. I notice you do this on most of your reviews. Love this style. Well done buddy! Keep it up and carry on! Btw hot tent season is right around the corner already! ⛺ 🔥 🌳
Awesome set up, I am very interested in utilizing a hammock for camping .... I do have a fat bike set up for touring and a can am Ryker set up for touring also.... Hopefully I will get into the touring \ camping life later this year!!!
How does it feel laying on your stomach and sides? I’m a big stomach side sleeper, it’s the only reason why I’m looking at this hammock… I NEED it to be decently comfortable though… please let me know!
Awesome review brotha. As an active 64 year old, who loves the outdoors, this is perfect. Definitely gonna purchase this one for my go to shelters ...thanks for the content 😎👍
So in the tent mode you'd still need to guy out the end walls with something. It would have been great if they had designed it to use trekking poles in the tent mode to hold the end walls up. I'm in the southwest region and while we have trees cacti and such some areas can be featureless just rock and sand.
nice review,so i return my XL for 2 big problem : sreen bug don't have 2 way zipper, biggest problem is xl inflated pad fold in middle before inflated and when you sleed inflated.check for 2,0 version on future
I’ve had the Lawson Blueridge hammock tent and I absolutely love it. It has a ton flat space inside. Its much wider than the haven and the Crua hybrid.
ohh I'd be so interested to hear from you on the matter! I'm hesitating between the two! One of the things that I feared about the blueridge is that the archs seem pretty low. Are you comfortable sitting in it? How about the balance ? I've heard that some people flipped over during the night (probably because it was not set up properly but still, your experience would be appreciated). Also, what about tent mode ? Is it satisfying? thank you very much for your time if you ever see this, and to anyone that could help me with this tough choice. ps. amazing video @Lonewolf 902 !
@@benjaminaucuit3595 I've been looking at the Blueridge too, before I discovered the Haven. The Blueridge is much wider inside, but one got more the 'banana shape' laying in it. which is no problem to many folks. I like more to sleep on the side, so I got the idea that the standard Haven at 26 inch wide will feel more comfy. I've not tested any of them, but seems like I'm going for the Haven for my part
That's a sweet Hammock. was looking at a Warbonnet XLC for my fish/camp channel and this may very well be my best option. Great video and an honest review! Thanks Lonewolf!
Great video! Thanks for the demonstration! Very well done! The hammock is a great system however the Amok Dramur XL 5.0 is a superior piece of kit in my opinion! It has way more storage and is far more adjustable with a chair mode and is much more adjustable with head or feet up or down! The Haven Hammock is probably less costly and is great that you can use it as a tent on the ground as well which makes it more versatile if you are not sure about using the trees! I like the idea of using it as a tent but where I live and camp trees are everywhere so I probably would never use it as a tent! If I thought that where I was going might not have any suitable trees then I would probably bring my tent instead! I absolutely am glad I purchased the Amok Dramur as opposed to the Haven! You should grab one and demonstrate it for us and compare the two to each other! I am sure there are many plus and minuses with each and your comparison would be very interesting to say the least however enjoy the Haven as it looks like a great item! I wonder how long each one will last without repair! Thanks for the video!!!
The one thing I did notice, when in the Hammock mode, when you laid down, your upper end was lower than your feet. Other than that it looks pretty neat.
Hi I'm going to spend the rest of the summer camping/fishing from the Oregon coast to the BC - Wyoming Rockies. My usual gear for this kind of mission is my single wall mountaineering tent and my 30 year old Kelty Wind River 3 season dome tent. I've been intrigued by the sleep qualities of a lay flat hammock but haven't seen the value in changing over. Next winter I'll be in Guatemala and Mexico. What would be necessary to make the Haven mattress usable in hot weather?
I want one but at 144kg I'm too heavy. Yet, there is a video of it holding up 1,000lbs, 453kg! The Haven Safari holds my weight officially but is too heavy to backpack at nearly 6kg. Such a pity. Should I risk it? I love the concept of using it as a hammock and a tent/bivy.
Does "water treated" mean DWR? DWR fails in short order. Have you ever tried the storm set-up after the tarp was wet with rain? It appears that water could run off and go down inside the tent body and pool-up (depending on what "water treated means". It would be neat of the spreader bars could be replaced with trekking poles. Does the inside walls of the hammock have any issues with condensate and do the walls ice-up in cold weather?
Great video! I am planning a 2 month kayak trip to British Columbia next summer and likely will be using my shelter more as a tent than a hammock. In the video it appears your head is taller than the ridgeline when the Haven is set up on the ground. Can you sit up without bowing your head when the Haven is set up using trecking pole (with no trees)? Thanks for any insights you can give me!
Ohhh this set up looks very comfy and I would like to have one 👌😍😍 love, that you can sleep flat in it 👌 👌 thanks for showing us and greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 🤗
Great video, buddy. Im a bigger guy about 6'4" and about 270. Do you think this would fit me better than the amok. I haven't watched your Amok video yet. Maybe that will answer my question.
Does the fly work well in driving rain from the side? I haven't decided on which tree tent will work best for me. Tentsile's fly looks the best for driving rain, Haven's fly also seem a little larger than the Amok. The Canadian Aerial A1 is intriguing, but the pricing of the Amok is up there when compared to the others. Would love to see a video of all four where you pick one over the others. Good work on your content!!
Great video, really nailed all of the important points. One thing I'm curious about, because I really hate air pads (I've had enough slow leaks over the years to write them off entirely), have you tried laying in it without a pad? Would it work with a closed cell foam pad instead of the inflatable pad? I'm sure it sags a bit however it seems like it really depends on the spreader poles to stay flat. Hard to tell without trying it out lol.
@@Lonewolfwildcamping Thanks for reply. I was curious about this also. I hope they would made ultralight 4s pad as option. It is impossible to change pad to different brad as size differences.
I really like it great review wounder how it would do with a 6'5" 265# man .I like the versibilality . It's something to keep in my mind for day hikes if I ever get to the 4 corners ride I hope to do . One question is how hard is it to button down the rain fly from inside the hammit?
that was a really solid video brotha, funny because we just ordered one of these this past week, my brothers been into these for a while, where im still more of a tent guy. I think hes trying to convert me LOL. be safe bro
Cool 👍 I would go with the XL because I like the width of 30" and only 2" longer than the regular. I wish for the $335. Price tag it came with a pad cover. But I guess it's not too bad considering the pay off of sleeping flat. 😴👍 By the way , how does it feel for side sleepers ? If I missed it , I'm sorry. Thank you
Two drawbacks to the Haven tent- it only has a one way zipper which can be troublesome when trying to close it if you lay with your head at the wrong end. - putting the toggles through the grommets on the tarp is a real chore when laying inside the tent. I have one question, what do you recommend for adding some insulation for winter camping? I have the insulated mattress that has an R value of 4 but it's just not quite enough in the coldest Temps. I have added an additional pad of an R value that is 1.5 to 2 on top of the havens mat but was considering a mylar sheet under the mattress as well. What's your thoughts on this?
I used a thermarest ZLite foam pad with the insulated pad when it was 10F and was good. Tested a foam car window shade that has reflective exterior and that works as well but a bit smaller. I side sleep so that worked for me.
Good review! So I am waiting for a longer (at least 2.10m) lightweight version (max. 1.5Kg for the whole setup) made of high quality materials. If this comes one day, I am the first one to buy it! Greetings from Germany.
From what I recall the pump is useful because it prevents you from getting saliva into whatever needs to be blown up. If you use your sleeping pad during winter you run the risk of saliva freezing inside and possibly tearing your sleeping pad.
I am really struggling between the standard and the xl, the xl seems nice and big but i have seen videos ware people get tacoed on their side. I am only about 5'6" but i am around 200 lbs. The standard is lighter as well so I am really torn. I want to be comfortable either hiking or sleeping.
I am 6' and 200 lbs and went with the standard. I sleep on my side so the width is not a concern for me and it suits me just fine. If you sleep on your back the width is 25" on the standard and 30" on the XL.
