never use dish soap. Leaves a film that will build up and restrict air flow in time. Use a clean paint brush while rinsing to get between groves, not a wire brush.
Because it night allow the air blown by the fan to come through the filter faster. At least that's the idea. Filter just as well but allow more air flow to better heat or cool your house
I got a spare wheel brush I use to clean mine. Wet it lightly and spray moderate amount cleaner. Use brush to agitate/loosen dirt. Use another LIGHT pass of cleaner and rinse. Done and done.
You need a flat spray on that. It'd drive the dirt better

Yes. You only hose in one direction to try to get the dirt out rather than embed farther

Are you sure the HVAC uses less energy? Most are higher MERV than throwaways, so in theory would use more.
If it uses more, it's negligible. My bills haven't climbed. I'll take the extra filtering. K&n hopefully has it figured out
I think what it means by "low pressure water", is don't be using a pressure washer.
even just dribbling out the end of the hose without an attachment.
Why would that air filter lower your energy bills...it's cleaning the air , not insolating your home .

I've mostly just been using my finger down each pleat to clear the dust balls. I mostly clean twice a year. Before summer and before winter
