I missed the 70's, but I remember that in the 80's. One radio station playing AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Madonna, the Oak Ridge Boys, Def Leppard, Isley Brothers, Prince, Pink Floyd, Run DMC, The Eagles, Dolly Parton, and so much more. Perhaps that is why I listen to almost everything.

We had a great time with this at my graduation party 20 years ago.
I put it on at a party last year and the next generation of teen where right there with us, learning the moves.

OMG this song! It's from 1975. KC was a Black guy in a white body because he was just so funky and soulful. This song filled dance floors. This song was a monster hit! I think KC was underappreciated as an artist because his songs were so fun but, he really was a great artist and he really shined in "Please Don't Go".

That's GREAT list. I think back now how I didn't care for disco that much back then, although, I wasn't as bad as those people who protested Disco Music and burned their albums at stadiums. Now I see it, respect it and like it as great classic music that blows away most of today's music.
I was around during that time as well & just could NOT understand why I was supposed to dislike disco. I had Hendrix, Zep, Bowie, The Who, etc, in my record collection, but if I wanted to get out of my chair I didn't see anything wrong with some ABBA, Bee Gees, or some KC, as well. Can't we like it all??? I also have jazz, classical, & even some alternative music on my iPod. That whole "disco sucks" thing was, and always will be confusing to me.

I'm your Boogie Man was also a jam. The group had a large African American presence so he was much appreciated in my neighborhood. KC was the man.

The only difference I could see is that the dances were either as a couple or huge line dances with 90% women, all groomed to the max. They were a great disco band. My favorites are "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" and "Keep It Comin' Love." Those are a MUST. Just add them to your to do list. You won't be disappointed!!! 🙂
They weren't disco. Notice the lack of the constant thump-thump-thump beat; it's syncopated....and nobody is doing any disco-type dance moves. They're more R&B/Soul music.
This is one of my all time favorite bands! The cheerleaders in high school years ago used this as a cheer😂

I had the same haircut in 1974 when I was 11. My mother was kind of hip. I remember her pulling me out of a barber chair because the barber kept insisting my hair should be cut shorter.
Music was fun back then. We totally enjoyed ourselves. We partied till we sweat!

The crazy thing about kids from back then til today is this video says 1974. i was born in 1972 so I was 2 when this came out and yet I remember it. you got kids today who was born 10 years after a song came out and they don't know the artist. i guess you can say my upbringing was the old school "play music while you clean up on Saturday morning." this generation prob doesn't do that cause there is no way a 2 yr old should have memories of this song.
Same here... born in 1972, yet I remember this song being part of my childhood... this song was big on the radio when I was 7-8-9... They used to play everything that was poppin' on one station, so you know we had a diverse musical education... We were more soup back then, now we're more TV dinner.
Well, that song was being played throughout the mid-70's, so it's not surprising you'd know it. It was on the radio a LOT.

When this song came out (I was a teen), I was dating a guy and we went into a record store to buy some records. I saw him scanning through records for quite some time and I figured he couldn't find what he was looking for. I went to assist him. lol I asked, "Who are you looking for?" He answered, "KC and the Sunshine Band". I asked, "Why are you looking in the C's?" He answered, "Because KC starts with C." lol He thought the band's name was, Casey and the Sunshine Band. lol For some reason shortly after that, we broke up. One of the best concerts I've been to! KC came out right on time and played for the entire 1-1/2 hour show straight through! Everybody was just a dancin! I danced for the entire show and hurt for days afterwards, because of it! ! LOL The man puts on an AWESOME show! ❤️ me some KC and the Sunshine Band!

I was 14 when this came out! Disco was in and Soul Train was awesome! We danced! We loved and watched what is was like to be sooo Cool. One of my Favorite Bands of the 70’s! You are a child of the 70’s at heart! Love ya for that! 🌞🌞🌞🌞
This band was always high energy and fun to dance to.
I saw them at the local Six Flags back then. The arena was packed. All the seats, all the standing space. The first choreographed horn section i’d ever seen. Fantastic group. 💜💜💜

They worked a lot with a disco guy named George McCrae. He had a number of iconic songs that shaped the direction that disco took, like "Rock Your Baby".

Oooff... These bands were all over in 1973-ish. We had a similar band local that played summers in amusement parks. They dressed alike, looked alike and sounded alike. It’s an R&B/Disco thing. KC stood out for song writing and got the record company’s attention. Good nostalgic sound! Dance club stuff in 70s. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
