Nice one, looks like it does everything you'd want out of it! Well done on the review side too, and update will be cool to see down the line, maybe like 1 week, 1 month, etc?
I just got done watching this and the follow up video on this Jesse and the filter itself looks really nice. I like it’s more of a hang on the back cannister filter. Nice review as well 😁👍
The big issue with this is the way the flow is designed. If you analyze it, the sucked up water first encounters those 2 sponges, which are the thinnest media in the canister. Theres even a layer of floss too. Then you have bio media, and then the big black coarse sponge. In terms of mechanical filtration, this is completely the opposite way to go about it. Coarse to fine, otherwise filter can clog up way faster.
I emailed hygger about this, let’s see if they can re design the filters to get them in the correct order! Will it be ok to give you a shout out for catching this in an upcoming video?
Disconnecting the skimmer from the stem on a similar filter, and clogging that hole with filter floss seemed to work perfectly for me for years without being messed with once in that time! Hope that helps some!
This is a nice little package. I am more of a canister person i the last few weeks i replaced in 3, 29gal quarantine/ breeding/ treatment set up . Sponge filters for hygger hob If i would have known the had this would have used these. May replace down the lines and put them away🤷🏼♂️
I love Hygger products, but I have to say they’ve over engineered a product here mind Jesse You have to remove the whole unit totally to undo the clips and after a few cleans the pump struggles to fill the canister to work efficiently Imagine being a old fail person trying to haul that from the back of a tank each time They should of tried to improve a seachem or a fluval design and kept it simple Great video though and I think it will suit a load of people’s needs

You are right! The flow of the water is not the issues it’s the order of the media, appreciate you bringin this to my attention!

@ definitely considering it
Ok for real question, do you know or can you find out how much more space you save with this filter over a hob of equal power/size ? Appreciate ya 👍🏼
@nathanhoveyaquatics probably the same , however with canister u get more internal room
@TheSalient1 I was going to say looks same same but yes it's what's inside that counts. I like it 👍🏼👍🏼
