We were just there this last week. It is a great autumn Halloween trip. We also took a day trip to Cape Cod, Plymouth Rock. I liked it so much more than I thought I would. Great coastal town with little shops and gorgeous waterfront. All together a bucket list trip for sure.
We got lucky while we were there. The crowds were definitely heavy, but our stay was so close that we didn't have to deal with driving/parking. We have heard it can be a nightmare at times to deal with though. Thank you for watching!
Idk how I just came across your channel/video,but I did!Thank you for visiting& showing the beauty of Salem& Boston in such a positive light. When you live here&see these things every day of your entire life, you kinda take it for granted,in a way.I love how much you both thoroughly enjoyed yourselves! Just seeing my home through other ppls eyes&points of view is kinda surreal& refreshing all at once.
Side note.. I was there in Salem the few days you guys were there(we go all the time)I was looking to see if I saw myself or my friends in the background of your video 😂gonna watch again&pay closer attention.Did you guys check out The Hotel Salem? We go there a lot for the rooftop bar, anyways its haunted 😂I actually have a video of 2 different ghosts speaking as we were leaving. We heard nothing in real time, but when I played it bck later on I was like WTH!??😮 We were tlkn about leaving on the rooftop & the elevator was packed so I suggested taking the stairs,as were going dwn the stairs u hear 1 entity or ghost say.. I can't let you out. & another one says LEAVE!! You can hear it clear as day, It's frickin strange man.
To correct you, no witches were on trial, no witches were hung.... no one accused, were on trial, in the jail or hung, were wrongly accused of being witches. It was a lot of hysteria and lying and a land grab - if you confessed you were released, and your land was taken away from you. Not sure if your tour guides mentioned this, the trials involved residents.of Salem town and Salem village. The town section is modern day Salem. The village area renamed itself Danvers. Look for Rebecca Nurse's house in Danvers and walk down to the family cemetary... She was tried 3 times and was hung, and thrown into a ravine. Her sons secretly took her body at night back to their home and she is buried there somewhere. Another victim's body was moved there too... he had been buried at his home too and when the body hadnto be moved, they moved it to the Nurse cemetary.
Thank you so much for sharing your tour of Salam Massachusetts. I absolutely love it. I plan to make it up there and do my own tour eventually. The top does blow off. Max stands at the top of the Stairs and watches as danny is flown away by the witches on the broom sticks.
Recently started watching. Took a camping trip to Navarre, F L and enjoyed some of your recommendations. Would love you listing some of your stops (including eats).
Several stores usually have a set of mugs for the year, I found the mugs to be one of the better souvenirs as you can use them all the time. I still have my 1692 witch city key chain from my 1999 visit. I did cringe at the souvenirs too, thats why I like the mug sets they decide of for any given year. Thank you for the tours. Hopefully you can get to Plymouth Mass, and then go further north of Salem to see Danvers, the Hammond Castle, Glouster, Newburyport and Rockport. Go south of Plymouth and see Cape Cod. I did whale watching from Glouster and Provincetown. Then venture into south New Hamspire and check out the odd America's Stonehenge in Salem, New Hampshire.
You should’ve gone inside the house of seven gables. Secret stairway .. I went to Salem the week of Halloween a few years ago, and if I go again, I’ll go a few weeks earlier. Less crowded... to see more things, we missed , due to the crowds.
When in October did you go?? I was there October 5th through the 10th last year visiting family and happened to stumble upon your video and recognized a lot of what I saw when I went. It is such a great place that gives all the Halloween vibes and I can’t wait to go back!
I (James) got my plaid shirt from a mens shop in Maine. Meg said hers is an old pair from Anthropologie. She said she'll try to find them & link them on our Like to Know It! Thanks for watching! 🧡
I enjoyed your video! I'll be in Salem for my first time October 25th, traveling from Washington State. Also doing the Lizzie Borden house in Fall River.
Hey im doing a first road trip from Burlington to Salem. Any recommendations we don’t know where to start or if we should start in Salem and go upstate.
I would definitely recommend starting in Burlington and then heading towards Salem. If you're going in the fall the leaves will start turning quicker up in Vermont than they will in Salem. Thanks for watching!
@@JamesandMeg you are so welcome! You guys are so positive and fun to watch! Keep making videos and spreading the positive vibes!the world needs more James and Megs in it!
Built in 1668, the Turner Ingersoll house (House of Seven Gables) was Nathaniel Hawthorne's cousin's house. The house where he was born is across from it on the same lot, I think it's red. There is a nighttime tour of the house with The House of Seven Gables characters... spooky when the floorboards are creaking and the gal in the top room starts screaming! 💀. Across the street is the best candy shop - Ye Old Pepper Companie. Fastastic chocolates and salt.water taffy. The house is very interesting so I recommend you see inside at least once in the daytime, or the special night one is good too. Been to Salem in October five or more times. Special note, Nathaniel was the great great grandchild of witch trial judges, John Hathorne (find him buried in the Charter Street Cemetary in Salem as Col John Hathorne Esq). Nathaniel was embarassed of his g g.grandfather's part in the witch trials and added a W to his name to separate himself from John... but most people know theynare related.
Everytime I've visited the Charter Street Cemetary, I can always see and hear.people spitting and cursing John Hathorne grave. The other judge's house is still standing... tours of The Witch House, is Judge Corwin's house. Nathaniel is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetary along with a. number of great literary authors, located in Corcord Mass.
If you both go again the inside tour of house of 7 gables is worth it. There are even hidden passageways. proctors ledge was located in original (Danvers) Salem. yes there were 2. Definitely worth checking out. No the witch house isn't haunted but there are many more places that are including restaurants and bookstores. Tours I recommend added to what you had done is the witch walk, haunted, count Morlocks, historic walk and trolley. yes the trolley is great you'll see why if you go sometimes even locals take it. You missed so much its worth doing again but its best doing some of the research of best places to visit and eat before you go. By the way it feels like Halloween all year long. Summer time is under rated. I like it best. The ferry is awesome too.

Getting to Boston this October 31st, and hanging in salem the next day!
That'll be a fun trip! Salem will still be great even the day after Halloween!
The elderly couple who own ‘Max and Dany’s house’ have the patience of saints.
They really do! IDK if it's more valuable to have a famous movie house or if the hustle and bustle hurts its value. 🧡
